  • To solve the shortage of radio spectrum and utilize spectrum resource more efficiently, cognitive radio technologies are proposed, and many studies on cognitive radio have been conducted. Multi-hop routing is one of the important technologies to enable the nodes to transmit data further with lower power in ad-hoc cognitive radio networks. In a multi-channel cognitive radio networks, each channel should be allocated to minimize interference to primary users. In the multi-hop routing, channel allocation should consider the inter-channel interference to maximize network throughput. In this paper, we propose multi-channel scheduling scheme which minimizes inter-channel interferences and avoids collision with primary users for the multi-hop multi-channel cognitive radio networks. The proposed scheduling is designed to determine both of routing path and channel selection. The performance of proposed channel allocation scheme is evaluated by the computer simulation in the aspect of capacity and collision rate.

  • For large multihop networks, large time synchronization (TS) errors can accumulate with conventional methods, such as TPSN, RBS, and FTSP, since they need a large number of hops to cover the network. In this paper, a method combining Concurrent Cooperative Transmission (CCT) and Semi- Cooperative Spectrum Fusion (SCSF) is proposed to reduce the number of hops to cover the large network. In CCT, cooperating nodes transmit the same digitally encoded message in orthogonal channels simultaneously, so receivers can benefit from array and diversity gains. SCSF is an analog cooperative transmission method where different cooperators transmit correlated information simultaneously. The two methods are combined to create a new distributed method of network TS, called the Cooperative Analog and Digital (CANDI) TS protocol, which promises significantly lower network TS errors in multi-hop networks. CANDI and TPSN are compared in simulation for a line network.

  • Smart packet agent is an application that is proposed to provide routing protocol and service module in ubiquitous network environment. However, it uses multi-hop broadcast, thus it causes increasing network traffic, low-speed data transmission, and the unnecessary joining nodes. In this paper, a transmit technique that uses unicast-based multi-hop to have lower network traffic and faster transmission time than the multi-hop broadcast technique. In our scheme, u-Zone Master establishes temporary routing paths by calculating moving nodes' hop-counter. Therefore, it reduces smart packet agent's network traffic and retransmission rate. Besides, this paper proposed an UDP transmission that bases on sliding window. Hence, the Stop & Wait transmission speed is improved. The results, which are taken by analyzing performance prove that the proposed scheme has better performance.

  • This paper proposes to increase the node energy effienciecy, which rapidly drops during the transmission of LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierachy), using the method of DL-LEACH (Dual-hop Layered LEACH). By introducing dual-hop method in the data transmission, the proposed single-hop method for short-range transmission and multi-hop transmission method between the cluster heads for remote transmission was introduce. By introducing a partial multi-hop method in the data transmission, a single-hop method for short range transmission method between the cluster heads for remote transmission was introduces. In the proposed DL-LEACH, the energy consumption of cluster head for remote transmission reduces and increases the energy efficiency of sensor node by reducing the transmission distance and simplifying the transmission routine for short-range transmission. As compared the general LEACH, it was adapted to a wider sensor field.

  • We propose a wireless-powered multihop transmission scheme using inter-node cooperation in a linear network topology. The proposed protocol determines the energy transfer time for each node to make the lifetime of the each node be equal in order to maximize the lifetime of the multihop path. To make the lifetime of each node the same, we apply the flocking algorithm which imitates the behavior of a bird flock flying at the same velocity, so that the lifetime of the nodes is averaged locally. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can maximize the lifetime of the multihop path by making all nodes have the same lifetime.

  • In wireless sensor networks, real-time applications have to ensure the timely delivery of real-time data. Recently, OMLRP (On-demand Multi-hop Look-ahead Routing Protocol) has been proposed to improve the timeliness of wireless sensor networks. The protocol needs initialization time to establish multi-hop information based routing path because it performs incremental look-ahead of the information. Consequently, the protocol deteriorates DDSR (Deadline Delivery Success Ratio) as an event moves because it takes little consideration of event mobility. In this paper, we proposed a Real-time Routing for Events Mobility (RREM) which exploits a data redirection in order to improve the DDSR of moving events. Instead of recollecting muti-hop look-ahead information, the RREM redirects the data to a sensor node holding the information collected in a previous round. We verify the timeliness and energy efficiency of RREM using various MatLab simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose VLC(visible light communication) based multi-hop multimedia data transmission system. The main contributions and features of the proposed system are as follows. First, the contribution of this research is to develope the LED communication based multi-hop transmission network system which can transmit multimedia data(audio data, video data) with long distance. Second, the developed system has the following features: In transmitter, audio data and video data are transmitted via multi-hops using two channels. The relay in audio channel receives digital audio signal by using photo diode and then transmits the signal to receiver after error checking and amplifying. The receiver receives the encoded audio data via photo diode and then converts to analog audio signal by using decoding and amplifying. The relay in video channel receives video signal by using photo diode and then amplify the video signal using OP-AMP and then transmits the signal to receiver. The receiver amplifies the received signal from photo diode and then sends it to the monitor. The performance evaluation of the proposed system is conducted in the laboratory with fluorescent light source. The results of the performance evaluation confirm that the system can provide high quality multimedia data transmission from transmiter to receiver via multi-hop relays in a long distance while we can see there are differences in the transmitted multimedia(audio and video) quality according to the used LED colors.

  • For the wireless mesh networks, efficient routing protocol is required to transmit data from source to destination node through multi-hop transmission. Multipath routing enable the stable data transmission even in the case of traffic congestion or unstable link. In this paper, we propose partial multipath routing which does not make a full multipath but partial for some parts of unstable links. This partial multipath routing reduce the number of nodes for routing and minimized the required power.

  • This paper proposes a data gathering method by adapting the mobile sink to prolong the whole operation time of large WSNs. After partitioning a network into several clusters, a mobile sink visits each cluster and collects data from it. An efficient protocol improves the energy efficiency by delivering messages from the mobile sink to the cluster head as well as reduces the data gathering delay, which is the disadvantage of the mobile sink. For the scalability of sensor network, the network architecture should support the multihop transmission in the duster rather than the single hop transmission. The process for the data aggregation linked to the travelling path is proposed to improve the energy consumption of intermediate nodes. The experiment results show that the proposed model is more efficient than legacy methods in the energy consumption and the data gathering time.

  • One of the fundamental limits of Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE) is that the data transmission is available via singlehop connection. In this research, we suggested the stable multihop transmission method to overcome this limitation. In multihop connection situation, multiple singlehop connection should be made and disconnected dynamically. Therefore, we stored the data within the GATT layer and tried to send it dynamically. We divided whole process as 4 states, and let each nodes transfers around each states to make data connection safely. Also, we set the transfer policy between each states during the transmission to make a robust system. From the experiment in real-time environment, we proved that our method showed high rate of packet delivery in a multihop network, which consists of more than 3 nodes.
