Dynamic Generation of SMIL based Multimedia Documents on the Web (웹에서 SMIL 기반 멀티미디어 문서의 동적 생성)

  • In this paper, we suggest a method for dynamic generation of SMIL documents by user profiles on the web. Generated multimedia documents are based on the SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) that are recommended by the W3C. The method generates automatically XSLT documents according to user profiles. SMIL documents are produced on real-time by integration of the XSLT documents and the XML documents that are made already. Most of conventional web-based documents are based on the HTML that is difficult to support reusability of documents are relation among multimedia abject. However, the suggested method is based on the XML, and so it supports reusability of documents and produces efficiently various SMIL-based multimedia documents. Application for the suggested method are as follows; Electronic commerce, tele-lecture, a web-based document editing, etc.

Movement Search in Video Stream Using Shape Sequence (동영상에서 모양 시퀀스를 이용한 동작 검색 방법)

  • Information on movement of objects in videos can be used as an important part in categorizing and separating the contents of a scene. This paper is proposing a shape-based movement-matching algorithm to effectively find the movement of an object in video streams. Information on object movement is extracted from the object boundaries from the input video frames becoming expressed in continuous 2D shape information while individual 2D shape information is converted into a lD shape feature using the shape descriptor. Object movement in video can be found as simply as searching for a word in a text without a separate movement segmentation process using the sequence of the shape descriptor listed according to order. The performance comparison results with the MPEG-7 shape variation descriptor showed that the proposed method can effectively express the movement information of the object and can be applied to movement search and analysis applications.

  • To retrieve complex data such as images, the content-based retrieval method rather than keyword based method is required. In this paper, we implemented a content-based image retrieval system which retrieves object of user query effectively using invariant moments which have invariant properties about linear transformation like position transition, rotation and scaling. To extract the shape feature of objects in an image, we propose a labeling algorithm that extracts objects from an image and apply invariant moments to each object. Hashing method is also applied to reduce a retrieval time and index images effectively. The experimental results demonstrate the high retrieval efficiency i.e precision 85%, recall 23%. Consequently, our retrieval system shows better performance than the conventional system that cannot express the shale of objects exactly.

  • Interaction technique in .3D virtual environment is a decisive factor that affects the immersion and presence felt by users in virtual space. Especially, in fields that require exquisite manipulation of objects such as electronic manuals in desktop environment, interaction technique that supports effective and natural manipulation of object is in demand. In this paper, 3D scene graph can be internally divided and reconstructed to a list defending on the users selection and through moving focus among the selection candidate objects list, the user can select 3D object more accurately Also, by providing various feedbacks for each manipulation stage, more effective manipulation is possible. The proposed technique can be used as 3D user interface in areas that require exquisite object manipulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a new framework for scalable media object to adapt the various QoS requirements in the heterogeneous networking environment. An MPEG-2 video is split into a set of scalable media objects in terms of temporal scaling and fidelity scaling. The portion of the scalable media objects is selectively delivered to adapt the QoS requirement. This framework can satisfy the various QoS requirements on bandwidth, even though the clients share a multipoint channel. By analysis on the rate-distortion characteristics of scalable media object framework, we shows our approach is feasible to support the various QoS requirements.

Extraction of a Central Object in a Color Image Based on Significant Colors (특이 칼라에 기반한 칼라 영상에서의 중심 객체 추출)

  • A method of extracting central objects in color images without any prior-knowledge is proposed in this paper, which uses basically information of significant color distribution. A central object in an image is defined as a set of regions that lie around center of the image and have significant color distribution against the other surround (or background) regions. Significant colors in an image are first defined as the colors that are distributed more densely around center of the image than near borders. Then core object regions (CORs) are selected as the regions a lot of pixels of which have the significant colors. Finally, the adjacent regions to the CORs are iteratively merged if they are similar to the CORs but not to the background regions in color distribution. The merging result is accepted as the central object that may include differently color-characterized regions and/or two or more objects of interest. Usefulness of the significant colors in extracting the central object was verified through experiments on several kinds of test images. We expect that central objects shall be used usefully in image retrieval applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a loitering detection using trajectory probability distribution and local direction descriptor for intelligent surveillance system. We use a background modeling method for detecting moving object and extract the motion features from each moving object for making feature vectors. After that, we detect the loitering behavior person using K-Nearest Neighbor classifier. We test the proposed method in real world environment and it can achieve real time and robust detection results.

  • 컴퓨터와 통신기술이 결합된 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에서 새로운 패러다임인 이동 에이전트는 통신망 점유와 과부하를 효율적으로 감소시켜 분산 시스템의 문제점들을 해결하고 있다. 그러나 이동 에이전트의 이동성 강조에 따른 지능성 결여와 다수의 이동 에이전트 시스템들로 이주시 발생하는 지연시간 문제, 및 호스트의 결점이나 장애 등으로 인하여 이동 에이전트가 무한 대기상태나 고아상태에 빠져 쓰레기로 처리될 수 있는 문제점들을 해결하기 위한 새로운 대안이 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이동 에이전트 객체를 다중 복제하여 복제된 다수의 에이전트 객체를 여러 이동 에이전트 시스템으로 분산시킴으로써 이주시 발생하는 지연시간을 제거하고, 쓰레기로 처리될 수 있는 이동 에이전트들의 수를 줄임으로써 사용자에게 보다 빠르고 정확한 정보를 서비스할 수 있게 한다.

  • 웹 기반 3차원 가상환경에서 내부 객체들간의 다양한 상호작용 기능은 가상환경이 제시하는 현실세계와의 유사성 및 참여자의 몰입감 정도를 판단하는 기준으로서 현재 좀 더 많은 연구가 필요한 분야이다. 특히 사용자를 대신하는 아바타의 다양한 행위표현과 관련하여 얼마나 이를 실세계의 개념에 가깝고 자연스럽게 지원하는지의 여부는 가상환경이 제공하는 사실감에 절대적인 영향을 데치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 아바타를 포함한 가상환경 내의 다양한 객체들을 그 특징에 따라 분류하고 이들간의 상호작용 및 행위의 유형물 정의한다. 또한 본 논문의 개념에 기반 한 가상환경시스템을 실제 구축하여 제안하는 상호작용모델에 대한 타당성을 검증한다.
