Comparison of effectiveness of Aeration Modes on the Removal of Landfill Gases for Landfill Mining (폐기물매립지 굴착사업을 위한 가스치환시 공기공급방법의 효율성 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate the removal potential of landfill gases during landfill mining project. Air injection mode and landfill gas extraction mode were tested. A mode that air injected at one injection well and landfill gas extracted at another extraction well at the same time was also tested to compare. The flow rates of all modes were the same as 15$\textrm{km}^2$/min. Air injection mode was the most effective in removing $CH_4$. Air injection/extraction mode didn't improve the effectiveness of removing CH$_4$compared with air injection mode. Air injection mode were more advantageous than air injection/extraction mode in respect to energy consumption because that of air injection/extraction mode were doubled.

  • 네팔 지방자치단체의 고형폐기물 관리 부서는 도시계획 및 개발국이나 환경위생 부서 또는 일반 복지 부서에서 담당한다. 네팔에는 폐기물관련법과 기준, 지침이 제정되어 있으며 지방자치단체법에 의해 지방자치단체 여건에 맞게 관련 법률 조항을 개정할 수 있다. 네팔에서 발생하는 가정폐기물의 65%는 유기성 폐기물이나, 폐기물 관리는 아직 체계화되지 않고 있다. 지방 NGOs와 일부 부락이 분리수거와 퇴비화를 실시하고 있으나 병원폐기물과 같은 유해폐기물의 경우 병원이 자체적으로 소각하고 있으며 지방자치단체의 의해 적절히 처리되지 않고 있다. 현재 네팔에서는 폐기물이 비위생 매립 방식에 의해 처리되고 있어서 지방자치단체에서 이를 금지하고 위생매립지를 확대 설치할 계획이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 기술 및 전문인력, 예산의 부족, 민간자본 및 시민들의 참여 부족으로 인해 지방자치단체가 설정한 폐기물관리 목표를 달성하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 네팔 지방자치단체들이 당면한 시급한 과제는 지속가능한 폐기물관리 계획 및 전략의 수립이다. 네팔 지방자치단체의 폐기물관리 계획은 폐기물의 적정 처리를 위한 제도적 측면의 강화는 물론, 폐기물 분리 배출 및 수거에 시민들의 동참을 이끌어내고 이해관계자의 참여 확대, 폐기물 처리 비용, 폐기물 처리를 위한 적정기술의 개발과 같은 내용을 포괄할 수 있어야 한다.

  • The recent increase of the construction business. reflects tile rapid increase of the amounts of construction wastes caused by new buildings and demolitions. This trend brings about a problem of insufficient aggregate in the construction arena because construction wastes from new buildings are usually reclaimed in the land and it causes environmental pollution and a restriction of exploiting a natural aggregate, brought up by environmental organizations as well. Accordingly, researchers suggest recycled aggregate as a countermeasure of the two problems, however, it's not actually been used in the construction fields. By this study, it'll be feasible to expect to solve the problem of insufficient aggregate and to reduce environmental pollution from waste-reclamation.

  • 1990년 이후 생활폐기물보다 사업장 폐기물이 많아지면서 총 폐기물 발생량은 점차 증가하고 있는 상황이다. 날로 증가하는 폐기물을 국내 실정상 매립처리하는 것은 한계가 있으므로, 효율적인 감량화 정책으로 폐기물 발생량을 저감하고, 소각에 의한 처리가 요구된다. 그러나 폐기물 소각처리는 소각 재와 유해가스를 배출하기 때문에 많은 문제점이 있다. 특히 인체에 맹독성인 다이옥신류(polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans:PCDD/Fs)가 배출되면서 현재 사회적 문제로 크게 부각되고 있기 때문에 소각시 다이옥신을 처리할 수 있는 장치의 개발이 필요하다. Tritium Distribution in Leachates from Domestic Solid Waste Landfills (생활폐기물 매립장 침출수의 삼중수소 분포)

  • It is for the purpose of investigating the tritium distribution in the leachates, the raw and treated leachates and the condensates of the methane gas, which have occurred from domestic solid waste landfills. Also it aims to measure the tritium distribution level on the colloid size of the leachates, the raw and treated leachates. It was found that the major inorganic contaminants of the leachates were Na, K, Ca, Mg, $NH{_4}^+$-N and $Cl^-$. The mean tritium level of the raw leachates of the investigated 13 landfill sites for 6 months was 17 ~ 1196 TU. It corresponded to a several scores or hundreds of magnitude higher value than that of the normal environmental sample level except for two landfill sites. Also such a high concentration of the tritium was found in the treated leachates and methane gas condensates as well. Nevertheless it is important to emphasize that the tritium level which was found in this research is about 100 times lower than the tritium limit for the drinking water quality. And most of the tritium existed in the dissolved colloid of the leachate of which the colloid size is below $0.45{\mu}m$. Also, according to the tritium analysis results of the leachates after filtration with $0.45{\mu}m$ membrane filter for some landfills, it is likely that some tritium of the leachate would be distributed in a colloid size over $0.45{\mu}m$. In general the relationship between the tritium and other contaminants in the raw leachate was low, but it was relatively high between the tritium and TOC. However, the tritium content in the leachate had no meaningful relationship with the scale, hydrological characteristics and age of the landfill.

The Evaluation of Geosynthetic Clay Liner as a barrier layer for the Final Cover System in landfill (폐기물 매립지 최종복토 차단층으로서 Geosynthetic Clay Liner 적용성 평가)

  • One of the most important concern in the design of barrier layer in to protect the water through the landfill. The barrier layer consists of a single compacted clay liner(CCL) or a composite liner with high density polyethylene(HDPE). The construction of barrier layer at the edge of cover system usually has some problems because of steep slope in the landfill. In this study the authors evaluate the geosynthetic clay liner(GCL) as a barrier layer at the edge of the final cover system in landfill. The GCLs were simulated the stability of slope, the HELP(Hydrologic Evaluation of Landfill Performance) and the durability of environmental situation. As the results, the GCL has more stable than the CCL. Therefore, the authors suggest that the GCL in good for the barrier layer of the final cover system in the landfill.
