  • This study aimed to identify the mediating effect of social support on the relationship between social isolation and depression in nurses. This study was conducted with 135 registered nurses in three COVID-19 specialized hospitals. Data were analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 and using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and mediation analysis. The mediating effect was analyzed using PROCESS macro for SPSS 4.0 program with bootstrapping method. Social isolation directly influenced social support (𝛽=-.62, p<.001) and depression (𝛽=.49, p<.001). Social support directly influenced depression (𝛽=-.19, p=.028). Social support has a mediating effect between social isolation and depression (indirect effect=.12, 95% CI=0.02~0.29). To managed depression, intervention are needed to reduce social isolation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies that enhance social support to relieve depression in nurses perceived social isolation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of academic self-efficacy in the process that nursing students' task value affects class participation. The subjects of this study were 161 second-year students of the Department of Nursing at K University located in G city, and the data collection period was from October 5 to October 14, 2020. The mediating effect of academic self-efficacy in the relationship between task value and class participation was analyzed using Baron and Kenny's 3-step mediating effect verification procedure using simple and multiple regression analysis and the statistical significance of mediating effects was verified by the Sobel test. As a result of this study, task value and academic self-efficacy were major factors influencing class participation, and academic self-efficacy was found to be a significant partial mediating variable in the relationship between task value and class participation. These factors explained 55% of class participation. In order to increase learners' class participation, an integrated approach that can improve task value and academic self-efficacy is needed.

  • This study investigated the mediating effects of depression on the relationship between perceived problem solving ability and suicidal ideation. 548 college students were examined with PSI(Problem Solving Inventory), BDI(Beck Depression Inventory) and SSI(Scale for Suicidal Ideation). To explore the relationship among these variables, correlation analysis was undertaken. Regression analysis was then applied to test the mediating effects of depression. In the results, perceived problem solving ability, depression and suicidal ideation were correlated positively. Depression operated as a factor to mediate between the perceived problem solving ability and suicidal ideation. This mean that perceived problem solving ability impact indirectly, rather than directly, on suicidal ideation. These results suggest the importance of psychological intervention to improve depression and perceived problem solving ability that affect suicidal ideation.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the mediating effects of family function in the relationship between depression and health promotion behavior among university students. Data were collected from December 1 to December 31, 2018 and the participants included 340 university students, who responded to the question regarding health promotion behavior, family function and depression. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Spearman's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, mediation regression analysis of Baron and Kenny using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. As a result, A negative correlation is found between health promotion behavior and depression (r=-.48, p<.001), and positive correlation is among family function (r=33, p<.001), negative correlation is found between depression and family function (r=-.45, p<.001). family function have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between depression and health promotion behavior (Sobel test: -2.53, p<.05). Results of this study suggest that it is important to manage family function to improve health promotion behavior caused by depression.

Methods: A total of 255 college students participated in this study by completing the following questionnaires: Experience in Close Relationship Scale, Subjective Well-being Questionnaire, Decentering Scale, and Self-Compassion Scale. Results: Mediated Regression Analysis was used for the purposes of study. The results are as the following. First, unstable attachment had significant negative correlation with subjective well-being and decentering and self-compassion. Second, decentering had a partial meditational effect on the relation between unstable attachment and subjective well-being. Third, self-compassion had completely meditational effect on the relation between unstable attachment and subjective well-being. Conclusions: These results suggested that it is important to enhance students' level of decentering and self-compassion in order to increase their subjective well-being effectively.

  • This study used a latent growth curve models(LGCM) to examine longitudinal changes in youth's game usage, self-control and the longitudinal mediation effect of adaptive game use in the relationship between game usage and self-control. A four-year longitudinal data of 863 adolescents from the Game User Panel Survey, provided through participation in the 2019 Game User Panel Research Conference hosted by the Korea Creative Contents Agency, was used to verify the longitudinal mediation effect of adaptive game use. SPSS 21 was used to verify the normality of variables from each wave, and to conduct correlation analysis. Mplus 6.12 was used to verify the longitudinal mediation effect. The results are as follows. First, game usage, self-control and adaptive game yielded linear temporal growth. Second, latent growth curve models showed that the direct effect of game usage on self-control was insignificant, but game usage had a significant indirect effect on self-control through adaptive game use. Continuous adaptive gaming increased self-control. Third, sobel test results showed that both the initial value and change rate of adaptive game use had a full-mediation effect, confirming the longitudinal mediation effect. This study verified the longitudinal change of self-control affected by change in game usage and adaptive game use.

  • This study aims to verify the moderated mediating effect of a growth mindset on the effect of academic burnout on academic self-efficacy through study engagement among Chinese college students. Data were collected through a survey targeting 547 college students who were purposively sampled at a junior college in China. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS PC+ Win ver. 25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro ver. 4.2. The applied statistical methods were frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and moderated mediation effect analysis. The study showed that academic burnout had a significant negative correlation with growth mindset, study engagement, and academic self-efficacy. On the other hand, growth mindset, study engagement, and academic self-efficacy showed a significant positive correlation. Second, the moderated mediating effect of a growth mindset was verified in the effect of academic burnout on academic self-efficacy through study engagement. Based on these results, this study proposed a method to protect academic self-efficacy by applying study engagement and growth mindset in situations where academic burnout among college students reduces academic self-efficacy.

  • The purpose of this paper was to verify the mediated effect of grit in the relationship with the effect of youth social support on aggression. To this end, data from the 2018 Children and Youth Panel (KCYPS) survey were used, and 2,590 first-year middle school students were selected and analyzed. As for the analysis method, Baron & Kenny's regression analysis and Sobel Test were performed. As a result of the main analysis, first, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of parental support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Second, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of friend support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Third, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of teacher support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Based on the above research results, various program development and policy alternatives that can reduce youth aggression and improve grit were suggested.
