  • 현재 자동차엔진유를 비롯한 각종윤활유에 마찰마모방지제 및 산화방지제로 사용되고 있는 유용성 몰리부덴계 화합물은 윤활제의 첨가제로서 주목받고 있다. 이와 같은 유용성 몰리부덴계 화합물은 윤활제의 첨가제로서 마찰부분의 고온에 의해 열분해함으 2 유화몰리부덴($MoS_2$)을 생성하기 위해서 합성한 것이다. $MoS_2$는 마찰마모 감소제로서 잘 알려져 있지만 고체이기 때문에 마찰면에 COATING 하거나 윤활유에 분산시켜 사용하고 있다. 그러나 윤활유에 분산시키는 것과 마찰면에 흡착시키는 것과는 계면화학적 반대현상이므로 문제가 발생하게 된다. 그러므로 윤활유중에 안정한 분산계를 만들어 사용시에는 비교적 안정한 COLLOID 계가 파손되지 않아야 한다. 그러나 열가학적으로 불안정한 COLLOID 계를 유지하기는 어려운 문제이다. 그러므로 유용성인 몰리부덴계 화합물을 윤활유에 용해시켜 열적 혹은 TRIBOCHEMICAL 적으로 분해해 줌으로서 마찰표면에 $MoS_2$의 생성이 필요하다. 이와같은 목적으로 개발된 유용성 몰리부덴화합물은 마찰마모감소작용 및 산화방지작용의 메카니즘에 관해서는 불투명한 점이 많다. 본 논문은 유용성 몰리부덴계 화합물중 Molybdenum dialkyl dithiocarbamate (이후 MoDTC로 명함)를 윤활유 첨가제로 사용해 마찰실험을 통하여 마찰감소작용의 메카니즘을 해명하고, 특히 마찰표면에 생성될 $MoS_2$막의 효과에 관해 중점을 두고 분위기의 효과로 부터 MoDTC의 마찰감소작용의 인자에 대한 고찰을 행하였다.

Friction Features of Geosynthetics Through the Pullout Test (인발실험을 통한 토목섬유의 마찰특성 평가)

  • Recently, construction of the reinforced earth structures, which adopts reinforcing materials of geosynthetic, is rapidly increasing due to its good economic advantages, beautiful appearance, and convenient construction. Nonetheless, the most important factor of interpretation and design of the reinforced earth structures, which is assessment ways of friction features between earth and geosynthetic, has not been standardized yet. It has great difference of interpretation and design methods which suggested to the design engineer. This study is to present the way how to assess more reasonably friction features between geogrid and weathered granite soil through the pullout test. Based on a large-scale pullout test of geogrid, the maximum shear stress, interface fricton angle, and friction efficiency are presented with consideration of various test condition.

Vortex Valve의 설계인자 및 성능특성 분석

  • 원자력발전소의 안전성 향상을 목적으로 신형원자로 안전주입계통의 축압기 설계에 적용이 고려되고 있는 피동적 유량조절 장치인 vortex 밸브의 유동장을 해석하여 밸브의 특성에 영향을 미치는 주요 인자들을 도출하고 이 인자들의 영향을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 Vortex 밸브의 성능 특성은 수송유량, 제어유량, chamber의 반경, 입구면적, 마찰계수 등의 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났으며 이들 인자 중 chamber의 반경의 영향이 가장 크고 Reynolds수의 영향은 비교적 작은 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 주어진 유동조건에서 제어유량이 작은 경우 점성손실이 vortex 밸브의 유동특성에 미치는 영향이 증대되는 경향을 보였으며 유량이 증가할수록 Reynolds수의 영향은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

Characteristics of Friction Angles between the Nak-dong River Sand and Construction Materials by Direct Shear Test (낙동강 모래와 건설재료간의 직접전단시험에 의한 마찰각 특성)

  • In this study, a series of direct shear tests were performed to investigate the characteristics of friction angles for sands and interface friction angle between sands and construction materials with respect to different relative density of the Nak-dong River sands and shearing velocity. The result of the test shows that friction angles of sands are always higher than interface friction angle between sands and construction materials. As the shearing velocity get faster, the friction angles of sand became higher. With respect to the density of sand by reducing void ratio, friction angles increase linearly, and relevant equations were proposed to calculate the friction angle by changing void ratio and relative density of sand. The interface roughness of construction materials was also an important factor in interface friction angle.

  • Due to enormous market growing of electric vehicles without combustion engine, reducing unwanted BSR (buzz, squeak, and rattle) noise is highly demanded for vehicle quality and performance. Particularly, innerbelt weatherstrips which not only block wind noise, rain, and dust from outside, but also reduce noise and vibration of door glass and vehicle are required to exhibit high damping properties for improved BSR performance of the vehicle. Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), which can be recycled and have lighter weight than thermoset elastomers, are receiving much attention for weatherstrip material, but TPEs exhibit low material damping and compression set causing frictional noise and vibration between the door glass and the weatherstrip. In this study, high damping EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene monomer)/PP (polypropylene) thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) were investigated by varying EPDM/PP ratio and ENB (ethylidene norbornene) fraction in EPDM. Viscoelastic properties of TPV materials were characterized by assuming that the material damping is directly related to the viscoelasticity. The optimum material damping factor (tanδ peak 0.611) was achieved with low PP ratio (14 wt%) and high ENB fraction (8.9 wt%), which was increased by 140% compared to the reference (tanδ 0.254). The improved damping is believed due to high fraction of flexible EPDM chains and higher interfacial slippage area of EPDM particles generated by increasing ENB fraction in EPDM. The stick-slip test was conducted to characterize frictional noise and vibration of the TPV weatherstrip. With improved TPV material damping, the acceleration peak of frictional vibration decreased by about 57.9%. This finding can not only improve BSR performance of electric vehicles by designing material damping of weatherstrips but also contribute to various structural applications such as urban air mobility or aircrafts, which require lightweight and high damping properties.

  • In this paper, the factors affecting the dynamic characteristics of a polyurethane spring restoring disk bearing are analysed to predict the dynamic behavior of the bearing. The prediction results and the test results are compared. The Young's modulus of the polyurethane spring, which varies according to strain of spring and the friction coefficient, of PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene), which varies according to the velocity and pressure of PTFE, are considered as the factors influencing the dynamic characteristics. W-PTFE virgin products are used and polyurethane springs are produced for the tests. The equation related to changing the friction coefficient and the modulus of elasticity are obtained through an inverse estimation of the test results. The estimation results, considering the factors affecting the dynamic characteristics, simulate the test results more appropriately than the estimation without the consideration of those factors.

  • In the friction-type joints the external applied load is transmitted by frictional force acting on the contact area of the plates fastened by the high strength bolts. This frictional force is proportional to the product of the bolt clamping force and slip coefficient of the faying surface. But the bolt clamping force is dependent on many factors when the turn-of-nut method is used. The preserved thread length and length-to-diameter ratios are one of the major factors governing the bolt clamping force. This paper presents the correct method of high strength bolt tightening through the experiment on the mechanical properties on sets of high strength bolts in accordance with preserved thread length and length-to-diameter ratios.

Comparative study on fretting wear of aerospace, biomedical, and nuclear components (항공, 바이오, 원자력 부품의 프레팅 마모 현상 비교 연구)

  • This paper investigates fretting wear damage in aerospace, biomedical, and nuclear components. Experimental parameters are identified that affect fretting wear damage. The parameters observed in industries are directly compared. The magnitudes of frequency, relative displacement, and normal force are found to differ depending on the contacting components where fretting wear occurs. In addition, recent solutions to minimize fretting wear damage are reviewed. The solutions include depositing of a low-friction coating, surface treatment, selection of substrate material, and optimal design of contact geometries. This comparative study suggests useful methods and solutions for analyzing fretting wear damage and for designing tribo-components.

  • The pull -out test has been used to investigate the friction properties between soil and grid type geosynthetics which is useful to measure the passive bearing resistance as well as the skin friction. In this paper, the friction properties between geogrid and a weathered granite soil are investigated by performing various pull-out tests. From the test results, a rational pull out test equipment and test method is suggested by evaluating the effects of major factors (such as geogrid width, location of soil box facing, vertical loads and pulll -out displacement rate, etc.) on pull -out test results.

  • 기계평면시일의 접촉 운동면에서 유체가 비압축성이고, 점성의 영향을 받는 경우에 대한 체적누설 유동량과 마찰 토오크를 멱급수의 방법을 이용하여 추정하였다. 본 연구에서 고려되고 있는 설계인자로 시일의 경사도, 접촉 운동면에서의 사인파형, 코우닝, 열탄성 변화량, 마모량, 시일의 스프링 강성도에 따른 축방햐의 변화량을 종합적으로 고려하여 해석하였다. 계산된 결과에 의하면 특히 회전속도가 증가되면 열탄성 변화량에 의한 시일의 누설 마찰 토오크가 커다란 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 나타나고 있다.
