This paper shows mechanical Properties and behaviors of macrostructures for specimens welded by F.S.W according to welding conditions and tool dimensions with $6.35mm_t$ aluminum 7075-T651 alloy plate. It apparently results in defect-free weld zone in case transition speed was changed to 15mm/min 61mm/min and 124mm/min under conditions of tool rotation speed such as 800rpm. 1250rpm and 1600rpm respectively with tool's Pin diameter 40mm and 60mm. The optimum mechanical property, ultimate stress,${\sigma}_Y=470Mpa$ is obtained at the condition of 124mm/min of travel speed with 800rpm of tool rotation speed using full screw type pin. shoulder dia. $20{\phi}mm$ pin dia. $6{\phi}mm$ and pin length 6mm. The full-screw type and the half-screw type pin shows the similar behaviors of weldability. It is found that the size of nugget is depended on tool transition speed and tool dimension by macrostructures of the cross section of weld zone.

The full-screw type and the half-screw type pin showed the similar behaviors of weldability. The present study examined the mechanical properties of the friction welding zone of solid and hollow shafts made with SM20C according to the depth of the notch. Friction welding was conducted at welding conditions of 2,000 rpm, friction pressure of 60MPa, friction time of 1.4 seconds, upset pressure of 100MPa, and upset time of 2.0 seconds. In the tensile strength test, the tensile strength decreased as the depth of the notch increased. Tensile strength was moderately high when the depth of the notch was 2mm. The tensile strength of the welding zone increased as the friction revolution radius increased, because the latter led to the generation of adequate friction heat. According to the hardness test, hardness likewise increased as e friction revolution radius increased. In the bending test, the bend strength of the solid shaft decreased when the depth of the notch was 0-2mm but increased when the latter was 3-5mm. With regard to the hollow shaft, the bend strength drastically decreased when the depth of the notch was 3-4mm. Upon examination it was found that the microstructure became finer when the friction revolution radius increased.
The cause of corrosion failure found in structures or various components operating in severe corrosive environment has been attributed to stress corrosion cracking(SCC) which is resulting from the combined effects of corrosive environments and static tensile stress. Cathodic protection is an electrochemical method of corrosion control that is widely used in marine environment and primarily on carbon steel. A number of criteria are used to determine whether or not a structure is cathodically protected. In practice, -0.8V versus Ag/AgCl is the most commonly used for marine structures. This paper showed the combined effects of cathodic potential and slow, monotonic straining on the tensile ductility and fracture morphology of parents and friction welded joints for SM45C, SCM440 and SM20C steels in syntheic sea water(S.S.W.,pH:8.2). For the parent materials in cathodic potentials, the higher tensile strength is, the more susceptible SCC is. And the welded HAZ is more susceptible than the parent materials.
Dissimilar friction welding were produced using 15(mm) diameter solid bar in chrome molybedenum steel(KS SCM440) to carbon steel(KS S45C) to investigate their mechanical properties. The main friction welding parameters were selected to endure good quality welds on the basis of visual examination, tensile tests, Vickers hardness surveys of the bond of area and H.A.Z and microstructure investigations. The specimens were tested as-welded and post-weld heat treated(PWHT). The tensile strength of the friction welded steel bars was increased up to 100% of the S45C base metal under the condition of all heating time. Optimal welding conditions were n=2,000(rpm), $P_1=60(MPa),\;P_2=100(MPa),\;t_1=4(s),\;t_2=5(s)$ when the total upset length is 5.4 and 5.7(mm), respectively. The peak of hardness distribution of the friction welded joints can be eliminated by PWHT. Two different kinds of materials are strongly mixed to show a well-combined structure of macro-particles without any molten material and particle growth or any defects.
In this paper, joints of Cu-1Cr-0.1Zr alloy to STS316L were performed by friction welding method. Particularly, Cu-1Cr-0.1Zr alloy is attractive candidate as nuclear power plant material and exibit the best combination of high strength and good electrical and thermal conductivity of any copper alloy examined. The stainless steel is a structural material while copper alloy acts as a heat sink material for the surface heat flux in the first wall. So, in this paper, not only the development of optimizing of friction welding with more reliability and more applicability but also the development of in-process real-time weld quality (such as strength and toughness) evaluation technique by acoustic emission for friction welding of such nuclear reactor component of Cu-1Cr-0.1Zr alloy to STS316L steel sere performed.
