마이크로파 대기압 플라즈마 공진기 제작 및 플라즈마 진단

  • 본 연구에서 개발된 새로운 유형의 마이크로파 대기압 플라즈마 공진기는 전송선로 이론을 기반으로 하여 임피던스 값을 $50{\varphi}$으로 설계함으로써 장비 자체에 구조적인 매칭이 이루어지도록 구성하였다. 안정적인 마이크로파 대기압 플라즈마 발생을 위해 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션(HFSS, High Frequency Structural Simulator)을 이용하여 공진기의 반사계수, 공명주파수, 급전점 그리고 전기장을 계산하였다. 전송선로의 이론에서 구한 급전점과 실제 제작한 마이크로파 대기압 플라즈마 공진기의 급전점 값이 큰 차이가 없음을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 제작한 공진기는 급전점 5.6 mm에서 공명주파수는 0.89 GHz, 반사계수는 -37.5 dB임을 측정하였고 신호가 입사되는 정도는 90 % 이상인 것을 확인하였다. 공진기에서 발생된 플라즈마는 6 W의 정도의 저 전력으로 발생되었으며 기체유량과 인가전력에 따른 플라즈마의 기체온도를 측정하고 광 방출 특성을 고찰하였다. 실제 제작한 마이크로파 대기압 플라즈마 발생장치는 생의학적 응용을 포함한 여러 넓은 분야에서 활용될 전망이다.

  • 자동 요금 징수 시스템인 ETC(Electronic Toll Collection) 시스템에서 차량의 탑재장치와 비컨(Beacon) 간에 마이크로파가 전파되는 경로를 모델화하였으며 다중 경로에 따른 페이딩 효과를 분석하였다. 또한 환경 변화 즉 강우 시 마이크로파 전파도 고려하여 수치분석을 하였다. 분석결과 강우에 의한 반사면의 반사계수가 변하여 페이딩 효과가 크게 증가하였다. 이런 수치해석 결과를 탑재장치에서 수신된 전압의 크기와 비컨과 차량 사이의 거리로 도시하였다.

Study on Non-contact Detection of Surface Cracks of the Metals Using an Open-Ended Coaxial Line Sensor at X-band (마이크로파 X-밴드에서의 종단 개방 동축선 센서를 이용한 금속표면균열의 비접촉 검출 연구)

  • In this paper, a non-contact microwave technique was presented to detect the surface crack of the metals. An open-ended coaxial cable line was used as a sensor at 11 GHz, and the reflection coefficients were measured by scanning along the metal surface including artificial surface cracks. A parameter, the K value which was defined as the difference between maximum and minimum reflection coefficients, was measured and used to estimate the crack depth. A linear relationship between the K value and crack depth was found. This study showed that non-contact detection of the surface cracks of metals is possible using the open-ended coaxial line sensor at X-band.

A Study on Properties of a Near-Field Microwave Microscope Using a Waveguide Resonator (도파관 공진기를 이용한 마이크로파 근접장 현미경의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Near-field scanning microwave microscope (NSMM) has been used to characterize the electromagnetic properties of samples based on a cavity perturbation technique. We used a NSMM using a waveguide cavity to couple a metallic probe tip as a point like evanescent field emitter. We explained the quality of our NSMM system by applying the cavity perturbation theory. First, to make a shape perturbation, we inserted linear and loop probes in the waveguide resonator. To check up electric and magnetic field distribution inside the waveguide resonator by shape perturbation, we confirmed the field distribution by using a HFSS simulation. Second, to make material perturbation, we located a dielectric sample in front of the probe tip and measured reflection coefficient $(S_{11})$. We found that the resonance frequency$(f_r)$ was changed linearly as the dielectric constant of resonator$({\varepsilon}_r)$ increased when ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}\;and\;{\Delta}{\mu}$ were small.

Retrieval of Soil Moisture Using Microwave Reflection at the End of a Coaxial Probe (동축선 끝단에서의 마이크로파 반사를 이용한 토양 수분 함유량 산출 기술)

  • In this paper, an algorithm for retrieving soil moisture from measurement of microwave reflection at the end of a coaxial canble is presented. Because the wave reflection from the boundary between air and soil layers depends on the dielectric constant of the soil layer, the dielectric constant can be obtained from measured reflection coefficient. At first, an equivalent circuit for the coaxial probe contaced on the soil surface was chosen with two unknown circuit elements. Then, the unknown circuit elements are obtained experrmentally by measuring the reflection constants of 20 soil samples, and consequently, an empirical formula for computing the dielectric constant from the reflection coefficient is obtained. The dielectric constant is mainly influenced by the soil moisture, and the soil moisture can be computed from the dielecfic constant using an existing empirical formula. HP Network Analyzer 8510C was used to measure the magnitude and the phase of the reflection coeffcient at 4.65 GHz, and the measured data set were used to obtain an empirical formula for computing the dielectric constant. The empirical formula obtained in this study was proven by other soil samples.

  • 유기발광소자 안에 존재하는 비발광영역(dark spot)의 전압에 대한 영향을 근접장 마이크로파 현미경(near-field scanning microwave microscope)을 이용하여 관찰하였다. 유기발광소자는 glass/indiumtin oxide(ITO)/Cu-Pc/tris-(8-hydroquinoline)aluminum(Alq3)/aluminum(Al) 의 기본구조로 제작하였다. Dark spot은 ITO 기판을 부분적으로 에칭하여서 형성시켰다. Dark spot에 $0{\sim}l5 V$ 까지 전압을 인가시키면서 인가 전압에 따른 전기적 특성을 근접장 마이크로파 현미경 image의 변화와 반사계수인 $S_{11}$ 측정을 통하여 연구하였다.

  • We observed the NaCl concentration of solutions using a near-field microwave microprobe(NFMM). Instead of the usual technique, we take advantage of the noncontact evaluation capabilities of a NFMM. A NFMM with a high Q dielectric resonator allows observation of small variations of the permittivity due to changes in the NaCl concentration. The changes of NaCl concentration due to a change of permittivity of the NaCl solution were investigated by measuring the microwave reflection coefficient $S_{11}$ of the resonator. The NaCl sensor consisted of a dielectric resonator coupled to a probe tip at an operating frequency of about f=4 GHz. The change of the NaCl concentration is directly related to the change of the reflection coefficient due to a near field electromagnetic interaction between the probe tip and the NaCl solution. In order to determine the probe selectivity, we measured a mixture solution of NaCl and glucose.

  • A new design method of lossy matching network for the microwave broadband ampilfier is presented by using seattering parameters instead od modeling of transistor. A lossy matching network is represented as the combination of 2 lossless networks between which lossy serial or parallel immittance is inserted without using specific topology, and so many useful matching cireuits can be realized. Also it is shown that linear transforming relation exists between gain and reflection coefficient of the amplifier, and the transforming equation is derived using scattering parameters. With this equation some constant gain circles can be drawn on reflection coefficient plane to get adequate reflection coefficient and gain. And since the relations between amplifier gain/reflection coefficient and the immittance of passive element are bilinear transformations. constant gain or reflection coefficients circles. Illustrative examples are presented to show the usefulness of proposed method.

  • A design method of lossy interstage networks for broadband microwave amplifiers is presented. A lossy interstage network is assumed as the combination of two lossless networks between which a lossy serial impedance or a lossy parallel admittance is inserted. For the circuit with two transistors and a lossy element, realizable ranges of gain and reflection coefficients are derived. And the relationships between gain and reflection coefficients are derived. Illustrative examples are presented by using the proposed method.
