The wetland in the city could be mainly divided into the deep water type and the abandoned paddy type, so this study was conducted to analyze characteristics between the two types of the wetland. The former sample site was located near the Olympic village in Songpa-gu of Seoul, and the latter sample site was in front of the Mt. Bukhan fortress in Eunpyeong-gu of Seoul. The actual vegetation, vascular plants, and avian fauna were researched. In the actual vegetation, the deep water type had the broad surface of water and the emerged plant as Phragmites communis have grown widely, but the abandoned paddy type had the narrow sur-face of water and hydrophyte as Persicaria thunbergii have grown widely. It might be judged because the water depth of the abandoned paddy type were shallow wholly. And the floating-leaved plants and the free-floating planktonic plants were not observed such as Nymphaea tetragona var. angusta, Lemna paucicostata in the abandoned paddy type wetland. The wild birds were mainly observed at the edge of the wetland(at the edge of woodland) in the abandoned paddy type, but were observed equally in the deep water type. 28 families 433 species were observed at the former site and 32 families 365 species were observed at latter site. It was judged that the various topographical structure(habitat diversity) might make all items various.
Ethanol extracts from 46 plants were tested for their fungicidal activity against six plant diseases consisting of Maynaporthe grisea, Rhizoctonia solani, Botrytis cinerea, Phytophthora infestans, Puccinia recondita, and Erysiphe graminis in the greenhouse studies. Strong activity at 5 and 10 mg/pot was produced from the extracts of Helianthus annuus flowers and Zea mays leaves against P. grisea. In a test with B. cineara, extracts of H. annuus leaves, H. annuus flowers, Chrysanthmum coronarium var. spatiosum, Cucurbita moschata seeds, Lycopersicon esculentum, Z. mays, and Z. mays leaves had strong activities at 5 mg/pot. In a test with P. recondita, strong activity was obtained from the extracts of Capsicum frutescens, C. moschata seeds, H. annuus seeds, L. esculentum, and Malva veticillata at 5 mg/pot. Against E. graminis, extracts of Cucumis sativus, H. annuus seeds, Salanum tuberosum, Z. mays, and Z. mays leaves produced strong activities at 10 mg/pot. All the extracts were ineffective against P. infestans and R. solani. Among seven extracts tested, the extracts of H. annuus leaves and flowers were highly effective against all the strains of B. cinerea resistant to carbendazim, procymidone, and diethofencarb. Furthermore, potent fungicidal activity was produced from the extracts of C. coronarium var. spatiosum and C. moschata seeds against the SSR, SRR, and RSR strains of B. cinerea, and Z. mays and Z. mays leaves against SSR and RSR. Extract of L. esculentum showed very strong activity only against RRS of B. cinerea.
Methanol extracts from 25 leguminous seeds were tested for their fungicidal activities toward six phytopathogenic fungi, using whole plant test in a greenhouse. The efficacy varied with both the plant pathogen and legume species used. At 5 mg/pot, potent fungicidal activities were produced from extracts of Cassia obtusifolia, Glycine max var. solitae, G. max var. yagkong, G. max var. hooktae, Phaseolus multiflorus, P. radiatus var. aurea, and Vigna sinensis against Botrytis cinerea, Puccinia recondita, and Erysiphe graminis. These seed extracts were highly effective against three B. cinerea strains resistant to carbendazim, procymidone, and diethofencarb. All leguminous seed extracts revealed weak or no fungicidal effect against Rhizoctonia solani, Pyricularia grisea, and Phytophthora infestans. As a naturally occurring fungicide, leguminous seed-derived materials described could be useful as new fungicidal products against various plant diseases induced by phytopathogenic fungi.
The surface ultrastructure of metacercariae and adults of Gymnophallokles seoi, the only known gymnophallid infecting humans, was observed by scanning electron microscopy. Metacercariae were ovoid or pyriform in shape and slightly concave ventrally. The oral sucker had two sizes of type I papillae, small and large, encircling its lip. Type I papillae were arranged in a row on both side oi the body. The ventral pit had several type I papillae on its inner surface. The ventral sucker was covered with cobble-stone like cytoplasmic processes and had 6 type I papillae on its lip. The surface of the body was covered with the tegumental spines except for the ventromedian area between the two suckers. The spines at anterior body were digitated into 3-5 points, and their size decreased at posterior one third or the body. Adult worms were rhomboid or ellipsoid in shape and covered with tegumental spines except for the ventromedian area. The shape and distribution of the tegumental spines and sensory papillae were similar to those of metacercariae. However, sensory papillae arranged in a row on the ventral surface of metacercariae were not observed in adults. The ventral pit became larger and more prominent as the fluke grew. It is suggested that the ventral pit function as an additional adhesive organ to the host tissue.
The purpose of this study was to survey structures and growth conditions of Pinus densiflora village groves, and to establish management strategies for their desirable growth and conservation. Twelve village groves were selected in western Gangwon province for the study. The age of the study groves ranged from 50 to 200 years. Average dbh (diameter at breast height) and density of trees for each study grove were 27~52cm and 0.5~9.3 trees/$100m^2$, respectively. Soil environments were favorable to Pinus densiflora growth in the majority of the study groves, but 2 study groves with sandy soils showed considerably poor nutrient contents. Low tree vitality was found in some of the study groves due to poor conditions of root growth from soil fill and trampling. There were detachment of cambial tissue and damage of stem cavity at 6 study groves, which were caused by artificial injury, careless pruning, and frost damage. Light disease damage by Rhizosphaera kalkhoffii and phomopsis blight were found at 6 study groves. Light pest damage by Thecodiplosis japonensis was also found at 6 study groves, but the pest damage at 2 study groves was relatively considerable. Thus, major factors limiting normal growth of Pinus densiflora village groves were infertility, soil fill and trampling, stem damage, and disease and pest. Desirable management strategies were explored to solve growth-related problems and to conserve the study groves. The management strategies included fertilization of organic matter and lime, removal of soil fill, soil plowing and graveling, wood-trail installation or woodchip mulching, supply of wood fences and protective frames, surgical operation for damaged stems, vitality enhancement, and trunk injection to improve growth environments or control stem damage and disease/pest.
The 'Kresek' disease in Korea caused by Xanthomonas oryzae was first found from eight counties in Jeon-nam and Kyungnam province in 1976. The study has been carried mainly on the grouping of pathogens and reproduction of the symptoms on Milyang #23, the variety had shown severe damages at the fields, by using the isolates from Hwa-sun and Kwang-san counties where the first epidemics took place. 1. The 'Kresek' disease was found mainly on Milyang #23, a new variety, at Hwa-sun, Mu-an, Kang-jin. Yung-am, Gog-sung counties in Jeon-nam province and Jin-yang county in Kyung-nam province. 2. The groups of 'Kresek' causing pathogens were the same of those producing bacterial leaf blight symptoms such as group I , II, IN and V of Xanthomonas oryzae. 3. Seventeen out of 21 isolates from Hwa-sun county where the first and severe damage found belonged to group IV, 2 to group II and 2 to group V All of 5 isolates from Kwang-san county belonged to the group IN. 4. The 'Kresek' type symptom could reproduced within 5 days after inoculation to seedlings by using root tut, spray and needle inoculation methods. j. The most of effective method for the inoculation was root cut, and then were spray and needle method. respectively. The higher concentration of inoculum produced the higher disease incidence.
1. Alternaria tenuis, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Curvularia lunata Fusarium semitectum, Gerlachia oryzae, Phoma sp. Trichoconiella padwickii were found associated with ear blighting of rice plants. The frequency of isolation of the fungi was found to be higher from the severely discolored rice grains than that from the brownish spotted grains, but H. oryzae was encounted highly from the latter. 2. Higher counts of Alternaria tenuis, Helminthosporium oryzae, Trichoconiella padwickii, Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium semitectum were observed under alternating cycles of 12hrs of light and darkness than under complete darkness but G. oryzae was encountered highly under darkness in the blotter. While no difference in the occurrence of the other fungi was recorded under l2hr NUV light-12hr darkness cycles and darkness. 3. A. tenuis and C. cladosporioides were encountered highly at the lower temp. $(15^{\circ}C)$ but Phoma sp. was occurred highly at the higher temp. $(30^{\circ}C)$ when the seeds were incubated in the blotter. 4. Artificial inoculation of the fungi in the ears of rice plants caused severe discoloration of rice grains and reduced 1,000 grain weights and grain ripening percentage.

Body scales directly exposed to external environments can be an important factor to understand various characteristics of a species such as habitat features, life history and basic ecology. In this study, we compared size and morphology of dorsal, outermost dorsal, keeled dorsal and ventral scales of total nine snake species in Korea; Oocatochus rufodorsatus, Elaphe dione, Rhabdophis tigrinus, Amphiesma vibakari, Dinodon rufozonatum, Hierophis spinalis in the Colubridae and Gloydius ussuriensis, G. brevicaudus, G. saxatilis in the Viperidae. The morphological characteristics of the scales seem to well reflect foraging modes and moving activity of both families. Uniquely D. rufozonatum had a diamond shape dorsal scale and had the greatest and smallest value of the ratio of width/length of dorsal and ventral scales, respectively. O. rufodorsatus, D. rufozonatum and H. spinalis did not have keeled dorsal scales and E. dione had keel on the few of dorsal scales. In addition, morphological characteristics of scales of three viper species were closely consistent with previously known phylogenetic relationships.
The aim of this study is to compare and analyze plant monitoring results of 2012 and 2013 for three artificial wetlands of Binae, Sedo, and Okpo areas in Namhan river, Keum river, and Nakdong river respectively. As the results, the Binae wetland in 2013 shows the same environment with 2012, that is, Willow and Common reed were dominant and the distributed plants in the wetland were Phragmites japonica Steud, Carex dispalta Boott, and Humulus japonicus in lowland of river side. Especially, Humulus japonicus was increased in summer season and Willow was increased in lowland of 초원. In Okpo wetland, Water chestnut was appeared in 2013 which it was not in 2012. Reed distribution was reduced in 2013 comparing to 2012 but Pussy willow distribution was not changed in 2013. In Sedo wetland, Secondary grassland was artificially planted in 2013 and so the colony was changed to Chinese Lespedeza and also most of plant colony was changed to Colt's-tail. Therefore, we can know that wetted transition rather than dried transition will be occurred in the Binae wetland. However, the Okpo wetland has monotonic change and so the transition will be proceeded with long time. The Sedo wetland showed wetted and dried transitions exist together. Therefore, the wetland will be changed to Reeds, Common reed, and Willow colonies.

A solid-state reaction of $MoO_3$ with as-synthesized H-SAPO-34 generated paramagnetic Mo(V) species. The dehydration resulted in weak Mo(V) species, and subsequent activation resulted in the formation of Mo(V) species such as $Mo(V)_{5c}$ and $Mo(V)_{6c}$ that are characterized by ESR. The data of ESR and ESEM show the oxomolybdenum species, to be $(MoO_2)^+$ or $(MoO)^{3+}$. The $(MoO_2)^+$ species seems to be more probable. Since H-SAPO-34 has a low framework negative charge, $(MoO)^{3+}$ with a high positive charge can not be easily stabilized. A solution reaction between the solution of silico-molybdic acid and calcined H-SAPO-34 resulted in only $(MoO_2)^+$ species. A rhombic ESR signal is observed on adsorption of $D_2O$, $CD_3OH$, $CH_3Ch_2OD$ and $ND_3$. The Location and coordination structure of Mo(V) species has been determined by three-pulse electron spin-echo modulation data and their simulations. After the adsorption of methanol, ethylene, ammonia, and water for MoH-SAPO-34, three molecules, one molecule, one and one molecule, respectively, are directly coordinated to $(MoO_2)^+)$.
