  • The experimental research was conducted to evaluate the adhesive performance of surface finishing material with primer based on silane(primer). For this purpose, concrete specimens with compressive strength of 18, 30, 50 MPa were made and cured in water condition ($20{\pm}2^{\circ}C$) for 28 days. A primer was applied on the age of 28 days and evaluated according to based on the curing age of the surface finishing material. Moreover, the mortar specimen also made and tested as per KS F 4937 for compared with concrete-based test results. Test results indicated that the adhesive strength of specimens with primer exhibit similar than that of specimens without primer. Also, the adhesive performance improved with increasing in curing age and compressive strength. The correlation between compressive and adhesive strength of mortar and concrete specimens showed similar trend. It was noted that there is no significant effects of primer on adhesive performance of surface finishing material, thus use of primer has superior potential for solving durability problem of concrete slab surface.

  • In the case of apartment building, it is difficult to conduct non-destructive testing due to the actual presence of people and the dust and noise generated during the core test, so inspections are performed each time in the common area and underground parking lot, and the tests are conducted on the finishing material rather than on the concrete surface due to low-cost orders. As the process progresses, poor inspection is inevitable. In addition, the proposed formulas for strength estimation have large fluctuations depending on the differences in test conditions and environments, and even if they show the same measured value, the deviation between each proposed formula is large, making it difficult to accurately estimate strength, making it difficult to use. Accordingly, we would like to select finishing materials mainly used in apartment complexes and compare and evaluate the compressive strength of concrete according to the type of finishing material by using non-destructive testing methods directly on the finishing materials without removing the finishing materials. The reliability evaluation results of the estimated compressive strength of concrete using the ultrasonic velocity method according to the type of finishing material are as follows. The error rate between the estimated compressive strength and compressive strength derived through the ultrasonic velocity method shows a wide range of variation, ranging from 21.83% to 58.89%. The effect of the presence or absence of finishing materials on the estimated compressive strength was found to be insignificant. Accordingly, it is necessary to select more types of finishing materials and study ultrasonic velocity methods according to the presence or absence of finishing materials, and to study estimation techniques that can increase reliability.

  • Hardened concrete contains pores of varying types and sizes, and therefore the transport of air through concrete can be considered. The rate of permeability will not only depends on the continuity of pores, but also on the moisture contents in concrete and finishing material on concrete. Also it knows that the durability of reinforced concrete structure is concerned with air permeability which effects on the carbonation occurred by invasion of CO2 gas and the corrosion of steel bar occurred by O$_2$. In this paper, the effects of curing conditions and finishing materials on carbonation and air permeability are investigated according to the accelerated carbonation test. As results, carbonation velocity and air permeability are effected by curing conditions and finishing materials, and air permeability coefficient is effected by moisture content. Also the relationship between carbonation velocity coefficients and air permeability coefficients has been quite well established.

  • High performance concrete(HPC) has been widely used in high-rise building. The HPC has several benefits including high strength, high fluidity and high durability. However, spalling is susceptible to occur in HPC and HPC also tends to be deteriorated in the side of fire resistance performance at fire. This paper investigated the spalling prevention of high performance RC column. Control concrete showed severe failure and a case of concrete with fire enduring spraying material exhibited more severe spalling failure than even control concrete. In addition, concrete with fire enduring paint reported the most favorable spalling resistance effect for preventing spall, compared with other concrete covered with finishing materials, such as fire enduring spraying material, gypsum board, marble board and fire enduring PC board. Meanwhile, concrete adding 0.1% of PP fiber demonstrated spalling resistance performance after 3hours load bearing test.

  • This study investigated how the location of sound absorptive materials and sound diffusers affects the acoustic performance of small auditoriums. It was conducted for a standard model established with the averaged dimension of 36 auditoriums which had opened since 2000 in Daehak-ro, Seoul. In this study, the installation area of finishing materials was calculated upon a back wall which had the smallest installation effective area of finishing materials. To analyze the changes of acoustic performance according to installation location of finishing materials, experiments were carried out using the 1/10 down scale models for 8 cases which were made by classifying the installation location of ceiling and side wall into the front, middle and rear part. The used acoustic parameters were reverberation time (RT), early decay time (EDT), clarity (C80), definition (D50) and speech transmission index (STI). In result, the index related to the amount of reverberant sound (RT, EDT) showed the great changes when evaluating it through just noticeable difference (JND), but the one related to clarity (C80, D50, STI) hardly indicated the changes. In case to obtain short reverberation time, it was most effective to control reverberation time through the side walls when installing sound absorptive and diffusive materials, and side wall front was the location which could get the shortest reverberation time.

  • Regardless of the ignition source, the main factors affecting the spread of flames to the human body are combustibles. The sound absorption material, which is the finishing material used in music institutes and karaoke rooms, consists of polyurethane that generates a large amount of toxic gas with a high amount of combustion gases during a fire. Still, the current law does not require the use of impregnated finishing materials for tutoring services with less than 100 users. In this study, the rate of flame diffusion was measured using the MultiRaelite composite gas measuring instrument (target substance VOC, HCHO, SO2, CO2, CO, HCN, and NO2) for the collection of sound-absorbing materials installed in the actual music academy. The results showed that the toxic gas found in this experiment exceeded the allowable concentration of TWA (Time Weighted Average) and STEL (Short Term Exposure Limit). In addition, a comparative combustion test of the general sound absorber and non-combustion sound absorbing materials on the market showed wide differences in ignition and diffusion. Therefore, based on the results of the experiment, private institutes with less than 100 users should be mandated to use non-combustion sound absorbing materials.

  • This article attempts to propose the control planning of townscape color around the historic and cultural heritages. The streets and roads of historic conservation and the changing perspectives to which it gives rise in Stockholm has changed dramatically during this century. New development or changes to existing buildings should be carried out in a way which acknowledges its surroundings and is a good neighbour, both in the cultural and social sense that makes good color design sense. There are many examples of townscape color, but the conservative and the historical streets and roads in the whole of the Stockholm city should benefit from careful design of the environment. To achieve this purposes, some strategies of case study of several streets and roads are reviewed; designing color context to relate to urban architectural design proposals of specific sites of cultural heritages are explored. In all new developments the scale of new buildings and the material finishes and colors used should respect the character of their surroundings and have due regard to the setting of any listed building. Streetscape color of visual assessment proposals should aim to help assimilate the development into the local scene. Important streets and roads should also include color townscape.

  • Mural paintings drawn inside ancient tombs are very sensitive to changes in the environment such as temperature and humidity, especially the finish layer of the tomb murals differ in preservability depending on the material properties and humidity conditions. In this study, I examined the mural painting of Songsan-ri Tomb No.6, where the finish layer was made of earth, and identified the physical changes that can occur due to drying, depending on the material properties of the finish layer. I found out through particle size analysis that the finish layer of the mural painting in Songsan-ri Tomb No.6 is about 85.0wt% below silt, about 14.0wt% clay therein, mostly composed of silt and below clay. I also found out through physical property evaluation that surface change rate of samples showed the largest change at 15.5% in reproduced finish layer sample made up of bentonite, followed by 7.8% of reproduced finish layer sample made up of celadon soil, 6.3% of reproduced finish layer sample made up of loess, 6.2% of reproduced finish layer sample composed of white clay and the same order of change in appearance was confirmed in each sample consisted of soil. In addition, it showed the same trend of surface change rate, and the bentonite condition showed the largest change, in the measurement of shrinkage rate and expansion rate. The experiment shows that the finish layer composed of soil is affected by cohesion among particles according to the content of fine parts and the relationship between the agglomeration due to the content of the differentiated part and the stress due to the expansibility depending on the kind of the clay mineral etc. Therefore, it can be concluded that the physical damage occurred in the mural painting finish layer of the Songsan-ri Tomb No.6 is related to the factors such as the material characteristics of the soil and the highly humid environmental change inside the tomb.
