  • For the implementation of large scale GRID systems, the performance scalability in resource scheduling is clearly to be addressed. In this research, we analyzed existing scheduling frameworks from the viewpoint of the performance and propose a novel resource scheduling framework called resource parameter based scheduling. Proposed scheduling framework consists of three components. The first is the resource parameter graph that expresses resource information via inter-resource relation and the composition base on the hierarchical structure. The second component is the resource parameter tree to be used for the implementation of the memory-based index of resource information. The third component is the resource information repository which mostly consists of static data to be used for the general resource information services. This paper presents the details of the framework.

  • There were not many ways to share research data in the past, but modern information technology has allowed us to share these data. As data sharing has its side effects, researchers' attitude and practice to sharing data vary by individual discipline. This study found that foreign learned societies, NGOs, universities and research funders support data sharing in a utilitarian perspective, while major publishers demand it so that other researchers can verify the data in peer review. It is important that open data policy should be settled down in near future for evoking further studies and encouraging progress in science. In order to establish data sharing successfully in Korea, efforts could be made by researchers, universities, academic libraries, and governments as well as the stakeholder. This study also proposed specific ways to perform it.

  • Open science projects are being actively carried out globally. Publishing the results of public research (publications and data) in digital format and enhancing access to these materials are getting more important. Various research support tools are being used to support open research, open access, open data, open peer review and open research performance evaluation. We analyzed research support services to prepare open science movement in Korea. Korea is not ready for research data management and research collaboration except open access and institutional repositories. It can be seen as an urgent matter to analyze these international open science research support services carefully and reflect them in research support policy and service guideline.

  • Despite of increasing digital materials, it is still important to collect print materials and keep their storage space for national level self supporting system as a science and technology(ST) material import country. In order to deal with the storage space issue, we conducted a ST material storage space and its expanding plan for Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information(KISTI). This paper examined first the domestic and overseas standard for the library stack space, analyzed current KISTI library stack space, and finally forecasted its demand in 2020 based on the increasing rate of the stack space. The expanding plans are suggested at the individual library level and also at the cooperative library storage facilities. The results of this paper will help that other libraries diagnose the present status and forecast the future library stack space when they face with the similar problems as it is examined in the KISTI case.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a data curation service to support teaching and learning activities of university libraries. To this end, the concept of data curation has been summarized, and how to understand information services and teaching-learning information data curation of university libraries. As a traditional extension of library information services, the use of university library data curation services has been proposed. As a result of research, data curation suggests that it is appropriate to understand the data by focusing more on the utilization of data. The university library emphasized that the data curation service is needed through the establishment of an institutional repository of teaching-learning activity materials for the visible effects that contribute to the educational service of the parent university. Finally, the research was completed by presenting five levels of teaching and learning information data curation framework.

  • This study aims to investigate bibliometric services practices of foreign libraries by service types and suggest practical considerations for Korean libraries wishing to implement bibliometric services. Through the examination of previous research and library websites, nine types of bibliometric services were identified under two broad categories - education & consulting services and research evaluation & research trend services. According to the service types, a wide range of bibliometric services activities were analyzed and described. Recommendations from the study for service development include: building an institutional repository for scholarly output; developing subject guides and education programs at the initial phase of service and providing more advanced services such as consulting and analysis services at the later phase; identifying the potential service needs of researcher groups.

  • The purpose of this study was to designed the structure and elements of metadata that can manage and share research data produced in the food composition database. In order to derive metadata elements, mapping crosswalk was performed on 5 metadata such as DCAT, DataCite metadata schema 4.4, TTAK.KO-10.0976, AgMES, and FoodData Central. As a result of the study, the top 15 elements of the 'Resource information' metadata were derived, and 7 mendatory, 3 recommended and 5 optional elements, and the 'Composition analysis' metadata included 8 mendatory, 3 recommended and 1 optional element were derived to describe food composition research data, respectively. The derived metadata elements will be used as an item for systematic management of food composition data and can be used as basic data for sharing with domestic and international food composition databases.

  • The goal of this study is to investigate domestic research trend on research data study. To achieve this goal, articles related research data topic were collected from RISS. After data cleansing, 134 author keywords were extracted from a total of 58 articles and keyword network analysis was performed. As a result, first, the number of studies related to research data in Korea is still only 58, so it was found that many related studies need to be conducted in the future. Second, most research fields related to research data were focused on library and information science among complex studies. Third, as a result of frequency analysis of author keywords related to research data, 'research data management', 'research data sharing', 'data repository', and 'open science' were analyzed as major frequent keywords, so research data-related research focuses on the above keywords. The keyword network analysis results also showed that high-frequency keywords occupy a central position in degree centrality and betweenness centrality and are located as core keywords in related studies. Through the results of this study, we were able to identify trends related to recent research data and identify areas that require intensive research in the future.

  • The Korean Archaeological Dictionary, which represents Korean archaeological knowledge information, contains refined and high-quality information written by expert collective intelligence. This is a characteristic that clearly distinguishes it from overseas archaeological data archives, and can be called differentiated infrastructure data. However, it has not played a role as an information service or knowledge information platform reflecting the latest digital technology. As a way to maximize these strengths and compensate for weaknesses, it was proposed to develop and operate a GIS-based knowledge and information platform for Korean archaeology. To realize this, it is necessary to develop a title management system centered on repositories and metadata that can collect and store various information, link open linked data design and related systems, develop a search function that can analyze and visualize data in response to the big data era, and establish a WebGIS-based information service system. This will be a platform to continuously manage, supplement, and update Korean archaeological knowledge information, build a ubiquitous environment where anyone can use information anytime, anywhere, and create various types of business models.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the topics of the research for the establishment of cooperative platform between libraries, archives, and museums that carry out the common task of providing knowledge information in a broad sense. To achieve the purpose of this study, 637 bibliographic information on three institutions were collected from the Web version of Scopus database. Among the collected bibliographic information, 5,218 words were extracted through NetMiner V.4 and analysed topic modeling. The results are as follows: First, as a result of analyzing the frequency of word appearance according to the tf-idf weight 'Preservation' was the most hottest topic. Second, the topic modeling analysis through LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) algorithm resulted in 13 topic areas. Third, as a result of expressing 13 topic areas as a network, repository construction was the central topic, and the research topics such as cooperation among institutions, conservation environment for collections, system and policy discovery, life cycle of collections, exhibition of information resources, and information retrieval were closely related to the central topic. Fourth, the trend of 13 topic areas by year 1998 is limited to the specific subjects such as system and policy discovery, information retrieval, and life cycle of collections, while the subsequent studies have been carried out after that year.
