  • Since the behavior of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) is influenced by disturbances and moments that are not accurately known, the depth control law of AUVs must have the ability to track the input signal and to reject disturbances simultaneously. Here, we proposed robust tracking control for controlling the depth of an AUV. An augmented closed-loop system is represented by an error dynamic equation, and we can easily show the asymptotic stability of the overall system by using a Lyapunov function. The robust tracking controller is consisted of the internal model of the command signal and a state feedback controller, and it has the ability to track the input signal and reject disturbances. The closed-loop control system is robust to parameter uncertainties. Simulation results showed the control performance of the robust tracking controller to be better than that of a P + PD controller.

  • A systematic output tracking control design technique for robust control of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with norm bounded uncertainties is developed. The uncertain T-S fuzzy system is first represented as a set of uncertain local linear systems. The tracking problem is then converted into the stabilization problem for a set of uncertain local linear systems thereby leading to a more feasible controller design procedure. A sufficient condition for robust asymptotic output tracking is derived in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities. A stability condition on the traversing time instances is also established. The output tracking control simulation for a flexible-joint robot-arm model is demonstrated, to convincingly show the effectiveness of the proposed system modeling and controller design.

  • In this paper, the path tracking controller for a surface vessel based on the sliding mode control (SMC) with the switching law is proposed. In order to have no restriction on movement and improved tracking performance, the proposed control system is developed as follows: First, the kinematic and dynamic models in Cartesian coordinates are considered to solve the singularity problem at the origin. Second, the new multiple sliding surfaces are designed with the SMC and approach angle concept to solve the under-actuated property. Third, the switching control system is designed to improve tracking performance. To prove the stability of the proposed switching system under the arbitrary switching, the Lyapunov stability analysis method with the common Lyapunov function is used. Finally, the computer simulations are performed to demonstrate the performance, effectiveness and stability of the proposed tracking controller of a surface vessel.

  • In this paper, a longitudinal control of the lead vehicle for a platoon in IVHS Regulation Layer is proposed. The backstepping method has been used for the controller design. This method has an advantage in that its stability need not be proven since the controller is designed based on the Lyapunov Function. The control object is that the lead vehicle tracks a reference velocity and maintains a safe distance between the inter-platoons while the followers are keeping the speed of the lead vehicle of a platoon. The coordinate of system is transformed to a new coordinate system for its convenience to design controller. The new coordinate system is composed of error and new error variable. The error is the difference between the safe distance and the actual distance of inter-platoons. A new error variable is the difference between the velocity of vehicle and the estimated state of a system operated by the virtual input. The Lyapunov function is obtained based on the variables of new coordinate system. In the computer simulation, several cases have been studied such as when the lead vehicle is tracking the optimal speed. or a lead vehicle of the following platoon tracks the velocity of the previous platoon while maintaining a safe distance. Also a nonlinear engine time constant case has been investigated. All the simulation results show that the designed controller satisfies the control object sufficiently.

  • The PPT being currently developed for the flight model represents a significant leap in techniques and technology compared to the previous flight ones. The electrical energy to be charged in the pulsed plasma thruster (PPT) is a very important aspect to provide an uniform impulse bit ,, and a specific impulse ,, for satellite attitude control. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear control technique and a stability analysis based on the Lyapunov function for the pulsed plasma thruster. Specifically, the proposed control law guarantees to charge and discharge the electrical energy generated from the power processing unit (PPU) within the specified time.

  • Chattering phenomenon is still a large drawback of VSS. To overcome this problem, various approaches have been reported. A new notion of sliding sector has been proposed recently. Inside this sector, a kind of norm of the state decreases without control input. Therefore, so long as the state is constrained inside this sector, the norm of the state approaches to zero. The sliding sector theory is elementary study step and is studied about only linear systems. In this paper, new methods of the tracking control of unstable nonlinear systems using the sliding sector is proposed. This paper analyzes the stability, using Lyapunov function on the sliding sector. Through the computer simulations for an inverted pendulum system, it is verified that sliding sector control is capable to reduce the chattering.

  • The aim of this paper is to propose a less conservative stabilization condition for leader-following sampled-data control of wheeled mobile robot (WMR) systems by using a clock-dependent Lyapunov function (CDLF) with looped functionals. In the leader-following WMR system, the state and input of the leader robot are measured by digital devices mounted on the following robot, and they are utilized to construct the sampled-data controller of the following robot. To design the sampled-data controller, a stabilization condition is derived by using the CDLF with looped functionals, and formulated in terms of sum of squares (SOS). The considered Lyapunov function is a polynomial form with respect to the clock related to the transmitted sampling instants. As the degree of the Lyapunov function increases, the stabilization condition becomes less conservative. This ensures that the designed controller is able to stabilize the system with a larger maximum sampling interval. The simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we proposed an adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control for nonlinear systems without parameter projection method. By modifying the controller structure, the parameters of the estimated input gain function are guaranteed not being identically zero and it is shown that the control scheme will not cause any implementation problem even if the estimated value of input gain function is zero at any moment during on-line operations. Except for the input gain function which an approximate estimate for its lower bound is needed, the proposed control scheme does not assume a priori the exact values of the bounding parameters. Based on Lyapunov synthesis methods, the overall control system guarantees that the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero and that all signals involved in controller are uniformly bounded. This can be illustrated by the simulation results for an inverted pendulum system.

  • This paper presents an analysis of the chaotic behavior in the discrete-time voltage mode chaotic generator fabricated using 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ single poly CMOS technology. An approximated empirical equation is extracted from the measurement data of a nonlinear function block. Then the bifurcation diagram is simulated according to input variables and Lyapunov exponent λ which represent a dependence on an initial value is calculated. We show the interrelations among time waveforms, state transition, and power spectra for the state condition of chaotic circuit, such as equilibrium, periodic, and chaotic state. And results of experiments in the chaotic circuit with the $\pm$2.5V power supply and sampling clock frequency of 10KHz are shown and compared with the simulated results.
