Research on Types of Visual Rhythmic Sense in Typography (타이포그래피의 시각적 리듬감 유형 연구)

  • Typography in visual communication design is 'potential form' hidden within a space. Showing rhythm in typography is making 'aesthetic sense' in a graphic which has formative characteristics, the way of expression is very important. When the rhythm is recognized through visual stream, Rhythmic Sense is formed. The research will present a new form of the Visual Rhythmic Sense by analyzing typography works out positively. First of all, I researched works done by Fillippo Marinetti, Robert Massin, Wolfgang Weingart, and David Carson for their vigorous experimentalism in typography in forming visual rhythm. I used S.D. Scale method to analyze characteristics of visual image and VARIMAX for factor analysis reaching types of visual rhythm, which could be classified as following. (1) Synesthesia Rhythmic Sense (R-synesthesia) means that the senses are conveyed through 'visualization of auditory sense' and 'visualization of touch' (2) Simultaneous Rhythmic Sense (R-simultaneity) means that the time and space co-exist in one plane. (3) Connective Rhythmic Sense(R-connection) means that different factors (Within one plane) co-exist interacting with one another and creating a unified impression through such a process. (4) Artist Oriented Rhythmic Sense ($-artist) means that the artist interprets the content subjectively and expresses his/her impression, thereby, attracting a gaze of audience systematically and arbitrarily. (5) Reader Oriented Rhythmic Sense(R-reader) avoids the existing legibility formed through aggressive engagement of the reader.

Relationships between rhythm and fluency indices and listeners' ratings of Korean speakers' English paragraph reading (리듬 및 유창성 지수와 한국 화자의 영어 읽기 발화 청취 평가의 관련성)

  • This study investigates the relationships between rhythm and fluency indices and listeners' ratings of the rhythm and fluency of Korean college students' English paragraph reading. 17 university students read and recorded a passage from "The North Wind and the Sun" twice before and after three months of English pronunciation instruction. Seven in-service and pre-service English teachers in graduate school assessed the rhythm and fluency of the utterances. In addition, the values of 14 indices of rhythm and fluency were extracted from each speech and the relationships between the indices and the listeners' ratings were analyzed. The rhythm indices of the speakers in this study did not differ significantly from those of native English speakers presented in previous studies in %V, VarcoV, and nPVIV, but were higher in ΔV, ΔC, and VarcoC and lower in speech rate. The level of rhythm and fluency demonstrated by Korean college students was comparable, at least in terms of objective values for certain indices. The fluency indices, such as percentage of pauses, articulation rate, and speech rate, significantly contributed more to predicting both rhythm and fluency ratings than the rhythm indices.

Aspects of Korean rhythm realization by second language learners: Focusing on Chinese learners of Korean (제 2언어 학습자의 한국어 리듬 실현양상 -중국인 한국어 학습자를 중심으로-)

  • This study aimed to investigate the effect of Chinese on the production of Korean rhythm. Korean and Chinese are typologically classified into different rhythmic categories; because of this, the phonological properties of Korean and Chinese are similar and different at the same time. As a result, Chinese can exert both positive and negative influences on the realization of Korean rhythm. To investigate the influence of the rhythm of the native language of L2 learners on their target language, we conducted an acoustic analysis using acoustic metrics like of the speech of 5 Korean native speakers and 10 advanced Chinese Korean learners. The analyzed material is a short paragraph of five sentences containing a variety of syllable structures. The results showed that KS and CS rhythms are similar in %V, VarcoV, and nPVI_S. However, CS, unlike KS, showed characteristics closer to those of a stress-timed language in the values of %V and VarcoV. There was also a significant difference in nPVI_V values. These results demonstrate a negative influence of the native language in the realization of Korean rhythm. This can be attributed to the fact that all vowels in Chinese sentence are not pronounced with the same emphasis due to neutral tone. In this sense, this study allowed us to observe influences of L1 on L2 production of rhythm.

  • 자연광은 시시각각 변화하며 광 특성의 변화는 계절별 시간별 일주기리듬을 갖는다. 이러한 자연광의 리듬은 인간의 감성 또는 수면-각성 패턴과 같은 생체리듬에 영향을 미친다. 인간의 생체리듬은 멜라토닌에 의해 조절되며 특히, 수면-각성주기를 일정한 수면패턴으로 유지하게 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 자연광의 하루 주기변화에 따라 조명의 단파장 영역 중 446nm~477nm의 비율을 제어하여 심부 체온의 변화를 통해 수면패턴을 분석한다. 분석결과, 자연광의 일몰시간과 유사한 시점에서 446nm~477nm의 비율을 최소로 제어 하였을 때 수면에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 이동통신에서의 사용자 인증 서비스는 통화도용 방지와 신뢰성 있는 과금을 위한 중요한 보호서비브이다. 본 논문에서는 해쉬 함수를 개발하고 이를 IS-95A 인증시스템의 인증 알고리듬과 인증 키생성 알고리듬을 적용하였다. 특히 인증 알고리듬을 활용하여 인증 키 생성알고리듬을 oracle 해쉬함수의 형태로 구현함으로써 인증 시스템의 높은 안전성과 간결성ㅇ르 동시에 성취하였다. 그리고 통계적분석 기법을 사용하여 개발된 알고리듬의 출력 특성을 분석한다.

3-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis of Thermoforming Processes (열성형공정의 3차원 유한요소해석)

  • Predicting the deformation behaviors of sheets in thermoforming processes has been a daunting challenge due to the strong nonlinearities arising from very large deformations, mold-polymer contact condition and hyperelasticity constitutive equations. Nonlinear numerical analysis is always required to face this challenge especially for realistic processing conditions. In this study a 3-D algorithm and the membrane approximation are developed for thermoforming processes. The constitutive equation is expressed in terms of the 2nd Piola-Kirchhoff stress tensor and the Cauchy-Green deformation tensor. The 2-term Mooney-Rivlin model is used for the material model equation. The algorithm is established by the finite element formulation employing the total Lagrangian coordinate. The deformation behavior and the stress distribution results of 3-D algorithm with various point boundary conditions are compared to those of the membrane approximation algorithm. Also, the slip boundary condition and the no-slip boundary condition are applied for the systems that have molds. Finally, the effect of sheet temperatures on the final thickness distribution is investigated for the ABS material.

  • 자유표면 유동을 시뮬레이션할 수 있는 수치 알고리듬 중 가장 최근에 개발된 volume of fluid (VOF) 방법을 이용하여 뚜껑이 닫힌 사각 컨테이너 속의 슬라싱을 시뮬레이션 하였다. 그 결과 유동이 작은 경우에는 알고리듬이 불안정하게 되어 장기간 시뮬레이션을 어렵게 하는 문제점이 발견되었다. 이 문제점을 해결하기 위해 VOF 알고리듬이 불안정하게 되어 장기간 시뮬레이션을 어렵게하는 문제점이 발견되었다. 이 문제점을 해결하기 위해 VOF 알고리듬 중 유량이동 알고리듬을 수정하여 원래의 알고리듬으로 시뮬레이션한 결과와 비교 분석하였다

  • 데이터 sphering은 신호처리 및 신경망 분야에서 널리 이용되는 기본적인 처리과정으로, 그 목적은 주어진 데이터간에 correlation을 제거하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 회귀 신경망을 도입하여, 데이터 sphering을 위한 새로운 on-line 알고리듬을 제시한다. 정보 이론에 입각한 risk 함수와, 최근에 제시된 natural gradient을 이용하여 새로운 데이터 sphering 알고리듬을 유도한다. 새로 제시된 알고리듬의 성능을 기존에 널리 이용되어 온 anti-Hebbian 학습 알고리듬과 비교 분석한다.

An Analysis of Research Using the Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation Technique: A Comparison of Music Therapy and Physical Therapy Approaches (국내 리듬청각자극(RAS) 기법 활용 연구 분석: 음악치료와 물리치료 비교를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify research that included the rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) technique and to compare this body of research within the field of music therapy with that in physical therapy. Forty-five studies were identified that were published from January 1999 through November 2018, and these were analyzed in terms of intervention procedure, type of rhythmic cueing, and therapeutic basis described by the researcher. While research in both fields used rhythmic cueing as the primary therapeutic agent, differences were found in the area targeted by training and specific type of rhythmic cueing used. Research conducted in the field of music therapy focused primarily on gait function, while research in the field of physical therapy tended to address gait-related physical issues, such as balance, muscle strength, and proprioceptive sensation as well as gait. While all of the identified studies from the field of music therapy used music for cueing, a metronome was used more often for cueing in physical therapy research. In terms of description of theoretical basis, theory of entrainment was more sufficiently described in music therapy research. These results indicate that while music therapy research maximized the role of various elements of music in intervening in gait function, physical therapy research addressed gait in relation to other physical functions. Considering that both aspects are essential for gait training, this study supports the need for a multidisciplinary approach to neurological rehabilitation with RAS.

Performance Analysis of Correntropy-Based Blind Algorithms Robust to Impulsive Noise (충격성 잡음에 강인한 코렌트로피 기반 블라인드 알고리듬의 성능분석)

  • In blind signal processing in impulsive noise environment the maximum cross-correntropy (MCC) algorithm shows superior performance compared to MSE-based algorithms. But optimum weight conditions of MCC algorithm and its properties related with robustness to impulsive noise have not been studied sufficiently. In this paper, through the analysis of the behavior of its optimum weight and the relationship with the MSE-based LMS algorithm, it is shown that the optimum weight of MCC and MSE-based LMS have an equal solution. Also the factor that keeps optimum weight of MCC undisturbed and stable under impulsive noise is proven to be the magnitude controlled input through simulation.
