  • Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) model of leadership has suggested that members within the same work team are differentiated in terms of their level of the quality of leader member relationships. However, the differentiation in leader member relationships has not been examined for its possible team-level effects. In this study, the possible impact of this role differentiation on team members' affective reactions was explored. As hypothesized, teams whose members experienced higher level of LMX tended to have higher overall job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and team efficacy. Contrary to expectation, however, the team-level mean on LMX was not related with team-level variability on LMX. Based on these findings, several theoretical and practical Implications are discussed.

Some implications, future research directions, and study limitations were discussed.

  • Transformational and authentic leadership are known to create positive effects on follower's various outcomes, like job satisfaction and organizational commitment. We're mostly interested in testing positive effects of transformational and authentic leadership of cabin team leaders in airline industry, because their leadership tends to have strong and immediate impact on cabin crew's quality of customer services. We figured that cabin team leader's transformational and authentic leadership had positive effects on crew member's job satisfaction and organizational commitment. And, these positive relationships were at least partially mediated through crew member's self-efficacy and LMX. Based on these positive results, we discussed several theoretical and practical implications for developing effective leadership across cabin team leaders in airline services industry.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive study was to identify the impact of workplace bullying and LMX (Leader-Member Exchange) on turnover intention among nurses. Methods: The participants were 364 nurses from the Seoul metropolitan area who were attending a continuing education program. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection and data were analyzed using the SPSS/Window program. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed to verify the effect of variables on turnover intention. Results: Higher workplace bullying was associated with higher turnover intention. Workplace bullying was negatively correlated with leader-member exchange. The most influential factors for turnover intention were LMX (${\beta}=-7.22$, p<.001), work load (${\beta}=2.96$, p=.003), and workplace bullying (${\beta}=2.64$, p=.009). These factors accounted for 28% of the variance in turnover intention. Conclusion: The study results indicate that there is need to develop strategies to prevent workplace bullying and cultivate a good relationship between nursing managers and nurses to lower nurses' turnover intention.

To this end, a survey was performed on the employees under the manager level in a large enterprise in Korea. The results of this study are as follows. Second, in the hypotheses that the characteristics of leader (authoritarian disposition, procedural justice, job instability) will make effects on the organizational commitment of subordinates through LMX, Hypothesis 4 of authoritarian disposition, and Hypothesis 6 of job instability were rejected, while only Hypothesis 5 of procedural justice was adopted, as it made effects on the organizational commitment of subordinates through LMX. Third, the Hypothesis 7, 8, and 9 that the characteristics of leader (authoritarian disposition, procedural justice, job instability) will make effects on the organizational commitment of subordinates through abusive supervision and LMX were all adopted. This study is meaningful, in that it identified the structural relationship that the characteristics of leader make effects on the organizational commitment of subordinates through abusive supervision and LMX. • The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of Ethical Leadership on job engagement, organizational commitment and unethical pro-organizational behavior and to analyze the dual mediation effect of job engagement and organizational commitment. We used 565 questionnaires collected by members in domestic companies. The result of the analyses are as follows: First, Ethical Leadership has no positive effect on unethical pro-organizational behavior. Second, in the relationship between Ethical Leadership and unethical pro-organizational behavior, job engagement does not play a mediating role, but organizational commitment plays a mediating role. Third, in the relationship between Ethical Leadership and unethical pro-organizational behavior, job engagement and organizational commitment play a dual mediating role. The theoretical implication is that this study once again confirmed the behavior patterns such as cognition, emotion, attitude and behavior of members in the organization. In addition, this study can contribute to theoretical expansion by explaining that these behavior patterns are identified by social exchange theory. The practical implication is that this study confirmed that members in the actual management field are willing to perform unethical pro-organizational behavior in order to achieve the organization's goal efficiently and effectively. Therefore, it is suggested that active efforts should be made to recognize these negative influences and possibilities at the organization level and to create a clean and fair organizational culture and environment that everyone can recognize at the social level.
