공기 포일 베어링으로 지지되는 터보 압축기의 공력 불안정성이 로터에 미치는 진동 영향 (Rotordynamic Effects Due to Aerodynamic Instability in a Turbo-compressor with Air Foil Bearings)

  • An oil-free turbo-compressor supported by compliant foil bearings which remove oil-contamination by elimination of a conventional ball bearing and oil lubrication systems is presented. Turbo-compressor makes two individual air compressions with two impellers at a operating speed of 39,000 rpm. In this study, the rotordynamic effects caused by aerodynamic instability were investigated with variable mass flow rates. Correlations between frequencies of pressure fluctuation in two diffusers and those of excitation forces on rotor were clearly observed in an aerodynamic unsteady region. Thus, these results show that it is beneficial to design high-speed rotating turbomachinery by considering coupling effect between aerodynamic instability and rotordynamic force.

헬리콥터용 무베어링 로터 시스템의 강성 및 고유 진동수 측정 (The Measurement Test of Stiffness and Natural Frequencies for Bearingless Rotor System of Helicopter)

  • The stiffness and natural frequencies for blades, flexbeam, and torque tube of bearingless rotor system are measured to determine the material input properties such as mass distributions and stiffness distribution for the rotor dynamics and load analysis. The flap stiffness, lag stiffness, and torsional stiffness are calculated by measuring section strain or twist angle, gages position, and applied loads through bending and twist tests. The modal tests are undertaken to find out the natural frequencies for flap, lag, torsion modes in non-rotating conditions. The stiffness values and mass properties are tuned and updated to match prediction frequencies to the measured frequencies. The rotorcraft comprehensive code(CAMRAD II) is used to analyze the natural frequencies of the specimens. The analysis results with the updated material properties agree well with the measured frequencies. The updated properties will be used to analyze the rotor stability, dynamic characteristics and loads for the rotor rotation test in a whirl tower.

  • A rotordynamic analysis is performed with a motor-bull gear rotor system supported on two partial bearings, which is intended to drive a high-speed turbo-chiller compressor impeller shaft through its built-in pinion gear. The motor-bull gear rotor system has a rated speed of 3,600 rpm, and is modeled utilizing the finite element method for analysis. As loadings on the bearings due to the gear action are significant in the system considered, each resultant bearing load is calculated statically by considering the generalized forces of the gear action as well as the rotor itself. The two support partial bearings are designed to take their varying loads along with their varying load angles, and they are also analyzed to give their rotordynamic coefficients. Then, a complex rotordynamic analysis of the motor-bull gear rotor-bearing system is carried out to evaluate its whirl natural frequencies and mode shapes and unbalance responses under various loading conditions. Results show that the bearings and entire rotor system are well designed regradless of operating conditions, i.e., loads and operating speeds.

  • This paper deals with the control of a horizontally placed flexible rotor levitated by electromagnets in a multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) active magnetic bearing(AMB) system. AMB is a kind of novel high performance bearing which can suspend the rotor by magnetic force. Its contact-free manner between the rotor and stator results in it being able to operate under much higher speed than conventional rolling bearings with relatively low power losses, as well as being environmental-friendly technology for AMB system having no wear and no lubrication requirements. In this MIMO AMB system, the rotor is a complex mechanical system, it not only has rigid body characteristics such as translational and slope motion but also bends as a flexible body. Reduced order nominal model is computed by consideration of the first 3 mode shapes of rotor dynamics. Then, the $H_{\infty}$ control strategy is applied to get robust controller. Such robustness of the control system as the ability of disturbance rejection and modeling error is guaranteed by using $H_{\infty}$ control strategy. Simulation results show the validation of the designed control system and the modeling method to the rotor.

  • 본 논문은 항우연에서 운용 중에 있는 축소 로터 시험장치(General Small-scaled Rotor Test System, GSRTS)에 대한 구조 안전성 확보를 위한 구조해석 수행 결과를 제시하고 있다. 프루드(froude) 축소 및 마하(mach) 축소 시험을 수행하고, 관절형 및 무힌지 로터 등 다양한 로터 시스템 적용을 위해서는 시험장치의 안전성 확보와 운용상의 능력 범위를 확인하기 위해 로터 운용 조건에서 나오는 기준하중을 이용하여 구조 안전계수를 산출하였다. 특히, 구동계통(drive system)은 베어링 및 기어, 축 등으로 구성되어 있어 운용상의 안전성 확보가 우선적으로 요구되는 필수 항목이다. 구조해석은 구동계통의 기본 부품의 형상 및 재료 물성치를 이용하여 해석적 방법으로 구하였다. 본 로터 시험장치는 설계된 안전계수 안에서 운용을 해야 하며, 향후 KUH 축소 품동모델 시험을 적용할 때도 하중계산을 통해서 시험시 운용조건의 범위를 정해야한다.

  • 정격속도 80,000 rpm 초고속 원심분리기(ultra-centrifuge)의 회전체동역학 설계가 수행된다. 설계목표는 충분한 위험속도(critical speed)의 분리여유(separation margin)와 함께, 다수의 고차 위험속도 통과시 원심분리기 로터의 위치에서 양호한 불균형응답특성을 갖는 로터-베어링 시스템의 최적구성을 이루어 내는 것이다. 후자의 특성은 불균형에 의해 가진될 때 로터의 질량중심이 회전축에 가능한 한 근접하도록 함으로써 만족시킬 수 있으며, 이를 위해 초유연축(extra slender shaft)이 적용된다. 이와 더불어, 특히 1차 위험속도에서 공진에 기인한 로터의 큰 변위를 방지하기 위해 범퍼링(bumper ring) 또는 안내베어링(guide bearing)의 설치가 필요하다. 유한요소법(finite element method)에 의한 회전체동역학 모델링이 수행되며, 지지 구름베어링의 강성과 함께 소량의 감쇠(damping)가 고려된다.

  • In the Part I has been reported a rotordynamic analysis of the driving motor-bull gear rotor-bearing system of a turbo-chiller. In this study, Part II, a rotordynamic analysis is performed with the turbo-chiller compressor pinion-impeller rotor system supported on two fluid film bearings. The pinion-impeller rotor system is driven to a rated speed of 14,600 rpm through a speed-increasing pinion-bull gear. It is modeled utilizing the finite element method for analysis. As loadings on the bearings due to the gear action are significant in the system considered, each resultant bearing load is calculated statically by considering the generalized forces of the gear action as well as the rotor itself. The two support bearings, the generalized forces of the gear action as well as the rotor itself. The two support bearings, partial and 3-axial groove bearings, are designed to take their varying loads along with their varying load angles, and they are also analyzed to give their rotordynamic coefficients. Then, a complex rotordynamic analysis of the compressor pinion-impeller rotor-bearing system is carried out to evaluate its stability, whirl natural frequencies and mode shapes, and unbalance responses under various loading conditions. Results show that the bearings and entire rotor system are well designed regardless of operating conditions, i.e., loads and operating speeds.

  • A projected 100 kW APU gas turbine rotor-bearing system has a main outer shaft, which is composed of some numbers of segmented sections for manufacturing and assembly conveniences. For a secure assembly of the segmented sections a tie shaft or inner shaft is installed inside of the outer shaft and a tensional axial preload of 50,000 N is provided to it. In this paper it is intended to set-up a sound modeling method of the APU rotor system, and particularly, the influences of the tie shaft on the rotordynamic characteristics of the entire APU gas turbine rotor-bearing system are investigated. Analysis results show that as a conservative design practice the inner tie shaft should be actively modeled in the rotordynamic analysis of the APU rotor-bearing system, and its effects on the dynamic behaviors of the outer shaft should be thoroughly design-reviewed.

  • A new method to measure residual unbalance of rotor - bearing system was proposed. The method which determine residual unbalance based on polar plot and an analytical method which calculates the residual unbalance of the rotor from the vibration response of the Jeffcott rotor are proposed in this study with respect to a real rotor system of which the residual unbalance is unknown. The unbalance eccentricity of the produced experimental model is 3.78 mil, developing the measurement method of the residual unbalance more convenient than the proposed method of ISO and API standard. The proposed method was experimentally compared with the ISO standard, and the two methods were exactly correspondent to each other within an error of 1%.

  • Nonlinear dynamic equation of a 4-axis rigid rotor supported by two an-isotropic magnetic bearings is derived via Hamilton's principle. It is transformed to a state-space form for the standard Η$_{\infty}$ control problem. we present a robust Η$_{\infty}$ control design methods of continuous and discrete LMI-based approaches and improve performance using loopshaping.
