Performance Analysis of Self-Orthogonalizing Decision Feedback Equalizer over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channel (다중경로 레일리 페이딩 채널에서의 자기 직교화 결정궤환 등화기의 성능 분석)

  • 광대역 무선 통신 시스템에서는 주파수 선택적 다중경로 페이딩 채널상에서 발생하는 인접 심볼간의 간섭에 의한 성능 열화를 극복하기 위해서 채널 등화 기술의 도입이 필연적이다. 그러나, 데이터 전송률이 증가함에 따라 채널 등화에 필요한 훈련열의 길이가 늘어나고, 이로 인한 오버헤드를 감소하기 위해서는 보다 수렴률이 높은 적응 알고리즘이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 주파수 영역의 적응 여파 기법 중의 하나인 자기 직교환 방식의 결정궤환 등화기를 고려한다. 이 채널 등화기에서는 적응 알고리즘으로 DCT-LMS (discrete cosine transform least mean square) 알고리즘을 채택함으로써 수렴률과 MSE (mean square error) 성능을 향상시켜 결과적으로 광대역 무선통신에서 요구되는 훈련열에 따른 오버헤드를 감소시킬 수 있게 된다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 주파수 선택적 다중경로 페이딩 채널에서의 제안된 채널 등화 기법에 대한 성능을 분석한다.

  • The mobile radio channel can be simulated as a complex-valued random process with narrow-band spectrum. This paper describes a real-time implementation of that process using a INS320C6414 digital signal processor and XC2VP30 Virtex FPGA. The simulator presented here is not only a comprehensive model of the flat fading but also frequency selective fading mobile channel conditions. To replicate the statistical characteristics of the multipath fading environment with the minimum computational burden, multi-rate techniques are employed to resolve practical problems such as variable sampling rate. The simulator produces accurate and consistent results due to digital implementation. It is very flexible and simple to program for various field conditions in mobile communications with a graphical user interface.

  • In LEO system, the signal degradation is mainly due to fading and Doppler shift, so that the analysis of the signal degradation and compensation techniques are very important. As the Doppler shift compensator, the block demodulator has been known to be useful in compensating for the time-varing Doppler shift, but its compensating ability is about several hundreds Hz in 32 ksymbols / s QAM (QPSK) signal transmission. Therefore, in this paper, to compensate for severe fading and Doppler shift more than several kHz, we use a conventional pilot symbol-aided fading compensator, and propose the Doppler shift compensator. It is shown that the proposed compensator is able to compensate for Doppler shift more than several kHz. And a pilot symbol-aided fading compensator is shown to be a suitable scheme for severe Rician fading ($K{\leq}10 dB$) as well as Rayleigh fading. Also, it is shown that the equal gain combiner improves greatly the QAM performance even if the fading or Doppler shift becomes deeper or larger.

  • In this paper, the performance of frequency hopped(FH) M-ary frequency shift keyed(MFSK)system is analyzed with the fading channel and the multione famming. In general, the performance degradation of FH/MFSK system is due to the Rayleigh fading and the multitone jamming environment. In order to improve the system performance. the time diversity is used. When the time diversity is applied to the Rayleigh fading and the mulitone jamming, we get around 18dB and 19dB improvements. respectively. And when it is applied to both the Rayleigh fading and the multitone jamming, we get around 4 dB improvement.

  • We have evaluated the BER's and CLP's of Wireless ATM (WATM) cells employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols for fading compensation through the simulation in indoor wireless channel modeled as a Rayleigh and a Rician fading channel, respectively. The results of the performance evaluation are compared with those obtained by employing the convolutional code in the same condition. In Rayleigh fading channel, considering the maximum tolerance BER ( $10^-3$) as a criterion of the voice service, it is blown that the performance improvement of about 4 dB is obtained in terms of $E_b/N_o$ by employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols rather than the convolutional code with pilot symbols.When the values of K parameter which means the ratio of the direct signal to scattered signal power in Rician fading channel are 6 and 10, it is shown that the performance improvement of about 4 dB and 2 dB is obtained, respectively, in terms of $E_b/N_o$ by employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols considering the maximum tolerance BER of the voice service. Also in Rician fading channel of K=6 and K= 10, considering CLP = $10^-3$ as a criterion, it is observed that the performance improvement of about 3.5 dB and1.5 dB is obtained, respectively, in terms of $E_b/N_o$ by employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols.

  • Super-orthogonal space-time trellis code (SOTTC) uses the expanded set of the orthogonal space-time block code to obtain coding gain and diversity gain without loss of transmit rate. In SOSTTCs, signal set expansions are performed by rotating the first column of the code matrix. The rotating phases used previously were selected to avoid the signal constellation expansion rather than the performance improvement. In this paper, we make a design criterion to select the proper rotating phase to improve the performance of SOSTTCs for fast Rayleigh fading channels. In addition, we design improved SOSTTCs by using the proper rotating phase. Simulation results are also provided to confirm our SOSTTCs are superior to the previous SOSTTCs in the view of BER performance.

Performance Bounds of an Amplify-and-Forward Relay System with Multiple Rayleigh-faded Co-channel Interferers (레일리 페이딩을 겪는 다중 간섭 채널 환경에서 증폭-후-전달 릴레이 시스템의 성능 한계)

  • In this paper, we consider a 2-hop relay system where both the relay and destination nodes suffer from the arbitrary number of co-channel interferers. More specifically, assuming that the relay and access channels as well as interference channels are all subject to Rayleigh fading, we derive an exact closed-form expression for outage probability of the amplify-and-forward (AF) relay system, and furthermore compute its upper and lower bounds. Based on these bounds, we derive the upper and lower bounds on the average bit error rate (BER) of the AF relay system. We also confirm the accuracy of our derivation by investigating the performance gap between the performance bounds under consideration and simulation results.

  • In this paper, we propose a new signal frame structure based on Alamouti code that can maintain the same performance as Alamouti code and increase spectral efficiency. The proposed signal frame structure can increase spectrum efficiency to approach 1(bit/s/Hz) since it can process n bit data during (n+1) time slot. In order to verify two performances, we derive closed form BER via mathematical approach, and compare with the simulation result in Rayleigh fading plus AWGN channel. Then we find that the two performances are exactly same.

  • Cooperative communications among users in multiple access wireless environments is an efficient way to obtain the powerful benefits of multi-antenna systems without the demand for physical arrays. This paper proposes a solution to optimize the weights of partnering users' signals for the minimum error probability at the output of maximum likelihood (ML) detector under the transmit power constraints by taking advantage of channel state information (CSI) feedback from the receiver to the transmitter. Simulation programs are also established to evaluate the performance of the system under flat Rayleigh fading channel plus AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise).
