Performance Evaluation of Mobile Across Layer in Next Generation Network (차세대 네트워크에서 모바일 액세스 계층의 성능 평가)

  • In this paper, performance evaluation of mobile access layer for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) MultiCarrier(MC)/CDMA 16 QAM system is considered to mitigate multiple access interference and enhance system channel capacity in Rayleigh wireless fading channel. Traditionally, multi-path is viewed as an undesirable feature of wireless communications. Therefore, diversity and adaptive array schemes are proposed to mitigate its effects. Recently, to increase the spectrum efficiency and the link reliability, MIMO schemes is devised to exploit multi-path in a scattering wireless channel. In particular, the channel capacity of MIMO-MC/CDMA 16 QAM system is evaluated according to Eb/No, Mc, p. From the results, in order to improve the channel capacity, the signals at various elements must be uncorrelated. And if the paths are correlated due to inappropriate spacing or mutual coupling effects, the channel capacity of MIMO-MC/CDMA 16 QAM system becomes substantially smaller.

Performance Analysis of Initial Cell Search in WCDMA System over Rayleigh Fading Channels (레일리 페이딩 채널에서 W-CDMA 시스템의 초기 셀 탐색 성능 해석)

  • The 3-step cell search has been considered for fast acquisition of the scrambling code unique to a cell in the W -CDMA system. In this paper, the performance of the cell search scheme is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channels. And the system parameters for cell search scheme and the design parameters for the receivers are examined. The probabilities of detection, miss and false alarm for each step are derived in closed forms based on the statistics of CDMA noncoherent demodulator output. Through the analysis, the effect of threshold setting and post detection integration for each step is investigated, and the optimal values of the power allocation for the synchronization channels are also considered. The number of post-detection integrations for each step is a design parameter for the receiver, and the optimum values may depend on not only the power allocation for each channel related to the cell search, but the false alarm penalty time. It is shown that optimal values could be determined through the analysis. Also, the cumulative probability distribution of the average cell search time is obtained.

  • This paper offers performance analysis of selection decode and forward (DF) networks with differential modulation/demodulation for an arbitrary number of relays in independent but not identically distributed Rayleigh fading channels. We have shown that the selection DF protocol with differential modulation can achieve full diversity in both independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) and independent but not identically distributed (i.n.d.) Rayleigh fading channels, and the performance loss due to using non-coherent detection is not substantial. Furthermore, we study the impact of combining techniques on the performance of the system by comparing a system that uses selection combining (SC) to one that uses maximum ratio combining (MRC). Simulations are performed and show that they match exactly with analytic ones in high SNR regime.

  • In this paper, we investigate the signal to noise ratio (SNR) estimation performance of Cross quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), which is being used for asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL), very high bit rate digital subscriber line (VDSL), and digital video broadcasting - cable (DVB-C), and has been found to be useful in adaptive modulation and blind equalization. At first, the symbol error rate (SER) performance of Cross QAM is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channel. Then we suggest error vector magnitude (EVM) based SNR estimation utilizing the selected constellation points having different types of decision region from one another, and verify that SNR estimation performance of each points have different performance pattern through simulation. From the simulation results, it has been found that when suggested selected constellation points are used for SNR estimation in Cross QAM, estimation performance is enhanced in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel or Ricean fading channel.

  • In this paper, we propsed scheme to mitigate conflict and loss of message in vehicle communication. And vehicles that exist in the moving direction, were grouping to the cluster form. Through, to select best relay vehicle, transmit a message to the destination. In addition, we applied the double rayleigh fading environment so that can applied in real-environments. Therefore, vehicle communication network applied proposed scheme, can be problem of mitigate conflict and loss of message. Thus, Increase the reliability of the received signal.

  • In this paper, we proposed and analyzed the performance of the partial SSPIC (Successive Serial Parallel Interference Cancellation ) scheme adopting modified successive serial interference cancellation (SIC) scheme. Modified partial successive serial cancellation (SIC) stage is used to effectively shorten interference cancellation delay. Performance is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channel with both perfect and imperfect channel estimation. From the results, proposed partial SSPIC I and II multiuser detectors can shorten effectively a detection delay at first SIC stage. The partial SSPIC type l detector outperformed the conventional concatenated SICPIC detector in both performance and capacity and type ll detector maintains similar performance. Proposed partial SSPIC multiuser detector can effectively improve the system performance without excessive detection delay.

  • The channel throughput and packet delay of wireless media control (MAC) protocols with Rayleigh fading, log-normal shoadowing and near-far effects are analyzed. We consider CSMA/CA protocols as the wireless MAC protocols, since CSMA/CA protocols are based on the standard for wireless Local Area Networks (LANs) IEEE 802. 11. We have found that the performance of CSMA/CA in radion channel model is reduced above 50% than those of error free channel model in low traffic load. We also found that 4-Way Handshake CSMA/CA protocol is supterior to the other CSMA/CA protocols in high traffic load.

  • When we apply the spectrally efficient quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) to mobile communications, it is necessary to estimate and compensate the channel charac- teristics. In this paper, a new type fading estimation method for PSAM using sinc function is presented. Gaussian interpolation method has a drawback that the performance degrades rapidly if pilot symbol period increases even though pilot sysbol period is less than Nyquist sampling rate. The Wiener filter method does not degrade until pilot symbol period is equal to the Nyquist sampling rate. It is difficult for Wiener filter method to be applied to real system because autocorrelation function of channel gain, Doppler frequency and SNR(signal to noise ratio) must be known to optimize the filter coefficients. But proposed method has a similar performance to the Wiener filter method, and does not need to know the autocorrelation function of channel gain, the doppler frequency and SNR. Therefore the proposed method cna be applied to real system easily.

  • Adaptive equalizers are inevitable schemes in digital communication systems for compensating the transmission channel distortion. Additionally, to obtain the required BER(Bit Error Rate), the adaptive algorithms appropriate to the mobile communication channels are required. In this paper, we propose the NPDFE (Noise-Predictive Decision Feedback Equalizer) for communication systems performance improvement in mobile communication channels. The performance of the proposed NPDFE with QPSK (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) is simulated under AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise), Ricean fading, ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) fading, and Rayleigh fading channels. The equalizers used in simulations are a LE (Linear Equalizer), a DFE (Decision Feedback Equalizer), and a NPDFE. Moreover, the equalizer performance criterion of the QPSK is the BER.

  • In this paper, we propose a Cluster-based Cooperative Routing using ARQ (CCRA) for supporting both reliability and transmitting efficient service in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks with Rayleigh fading environments. The main contributions and features of this paper are as follows. First, the clustering method which uses the position information of nodes as underlying structure for supporting reliable transmission services is used. Second, the cooperative data transmission method based on the underlying clustering informations is used to improve both reliability and data transmission efficiency. Third, the ARQ-based transmission is used to improve transmission reliability. Fourth, we consider a realistic approach, in the points of view of mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks, based on mobile sensor nodes as well as fixed sensor nodes in the sensor fields while the conventional research for sensor networks focus on mainly fixed sensor networks. The performance evaluation of proposed routing protocol implemented via simulation using Optimized Network Engineering Tool (OPNET) and theoretical analysis.
