The purpose of this study was to provide the evaluation and prediction of strengths of SB latex modified concrete(LMC) using a statistical method and factorial experimental design method. The main experimental variables were as follows ; W/C ( 4 levels ; 31, 33, 35, 42%), S/a( 2 levels ; 55, 58%) and L/C(2 levels ; 5, 15%). The compressive strength and flexural strength of LMC were selected as a factor of response. The statistical method was carried out to analyze the results, together with factorial experimental design method and response surface method. The analysis showed that if L/C had been 15%, W/C appeared to be around 33% to achieve the design strength of $350kgf/cm^2$. In this case, the flexural strength and the slump came to around $68kgf/cm^2$ and 18cm, respectively. Eventhough the L/C varied, the design strength and W/C could be predictable together with slump value and flexural strength. As a result of series of experiments in this study, W/C and L/C were proved to be the main factors influencing on the compressive and flexural strength of LMC. Both of strength and slump values could be predictable from the mixing proportion of LMC.
Durability of concrete structures is seriously compromised by cracking at early-age concretes, particularly in high-strength or high-performance concrete structures. Since early-age cracking is influenced by various factors that affect the hydration process, early-age shrinkage and stress/strain development, the behavior at early-age is highly complex and no rational methodologies for its control have yet been established. Concrete structures often present volumetrical changes particularly due to thermal and moisture related shrinkages. Volumetric instability is detrimental to the performance and durability of concrete structures because structural elements are usually restrained. These restrained shrinkages develope tensile stresses which often results in cracking in combination with the low fracture resistance of concrete. Early-age defects in high-performance concrete due to thermal and autogenous deformation shorten the life cycle of concrete structures. Thus, it is necessary to examine the behavior of early-age concrete at the stages of design and construction. The purpose of this study was to propose a shrinkage models of VES-LMC (very-early strength latex-modified concrete) at early-age considering thermal deformation and autogenous shrinkage.
The strength and durability of polymer-cement mortars were investigated. The specimens of polymer-cement mortar were prepared by using styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) latex, ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) emulsion and polyacrylic ester(PAE) emulsion with various polymer-cement ratios(5, 10, 15, 20wt%). For the evaluation of durability of polymer-cement mortars, freezing-thawing, acid resistance and heat resistance tests were conducted. With an increase of polymer-cement ratio, the frost resistance of polymer-cement mortars was greatly improved, but acid and heat resistance were deteriorated. The compressive and flexural strengths of SBR polymer-cement mortars were improved with an increase of polymer-cement ratio, whereas those of EVA and PAE polymer-cement mortars reached maximum value at polymer-cement ratio of 10wt%.

This paper was made to evaluate the effect of the type of latex for coating on the printability by investigating the structure of pore such as the pore fraction, the number of pores, pore size and distribution of coated paper. The coated structure is mainly depend on the results of interaction between pigment and binder. It means that the structure of pore formed is chiefly affected by the type of latex. This physical properties of pore have a close relation with ink set-off associated with the drying rate, the speed of penetration of ink into base paper and printing gloss. Therefore it was necessary to find out the relationship between pore structure and the performance of printability by modifying the type of latex to vary the pore structure of coated paper. Acrylic latex was superior to S/B latex in the sedimentation volume, compressibility, smoothness, pore fraction and its number, the weight of transferred ink onto the coated paper and ink repellance. In contrast, water retention and ink setting were not good. in the comparison of anionic and amphoteric latex, amphoteric latex showed better performance in the thickness, smoothness, pore fraction and its number, pore size, the weight of ink transmitted and K&N ink receptivity, etc.
In order to investigate the characteristics of the gradient fluorinated polyacrylate and polyurethane latex blend films, the fluorinated polyacrylate emulsion and the polyurethane emulsion were synthesized, and then the both emulsions were blended at a series of ratios. The effects of content of the fluorinated polyacrylate on the gradient structure and surface property of the blended films were assessed by AFM, XPS, SEM-EDX and surface free energy measurements. It appeared that, while the content of the fluorinated polyacrylate latex was up to 30%, the fluorinated polyacrylate particles were selectively gathered on the film-air (F-A) and film-glass (F-G) interfaces at room temperature. When the content of the fluorinated polyacrylate was under 30%, the gradient structure of fluorinated component was not evident. The further increasing of fluorinated polyacrylate in the mixed system facilitated the formation and enlargement of gradient structure, but the adhesion of film decreased a little.
Emulsion polymerization ws carried out using Alkyl methacrylate(RMA) like MMA, EMA, BMA and Styrene Monomer(SM) for core-shell latex preparation. It was synthesized at $80^{\circ}C$ in the presence of anionic surfactant SLS(Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). FT-IR and DSC analysis are used to confirm the synthesized core-shell emulsion latexes. Moreover DSC and TGA were used to investigate the thermal characterisitcs of them. The differences of the decomposition rate and the activation energy from TGA and DSC analysis are not so big. It considers that the pendent group is not affect of the thermal characteristics and stability on core-shell latexes, which is synthesized with RMA and Styrene. For investigating combustion products, LC50 values were calculated by FED(Fractional Effective Dose)from the Pyrolyzer-Mass sepctrometer.

The service life of agricultural concrete structures is designed in about 30 to 100 years, but actual service lift is estimated in an average 18 years. Therefore, as the service life of the agricultural concrete structures increases, necessity of repair by aging from various environment condition exposure increases. This study was to determinate the optimum mix proportion of latex modified repair mortar and to improve the durability performance of agricultural concrete structures. The physical and mechanical tests of latex modified repair mortar were performed. Tests of flow, compressive strength, flexural strength and bond strength tests were conducted. Test results show that the optimum nex proportion of latex modified repair mortar, when used in 5% latex volume fraction (weight of cement), 1.5% antifoaming agent (weight of latex), 0.2% PVA fiber volume fraction, 1:2 (binder-sand ratio), 10% silica fume replacement ratio (weight of cement), could result in best performance for the repair of agricultural concrete structures.

The purpose of this research is to develop rapid setting cement latex modified concrete (RSLMC) which will be used to overlay bridge deck for maintaining and repairing. The main experimental variables were the types of rapid setting cement and variation of latex and antifoam agent contents were selected as admixture factor, then the properties of workability and strength development and durability properties were investigated. The results of this study show that latex content give increment of a slump due to surface tension in polymer particles and reduce unit weight of water for preservation of workability. In addition, When no and 1.6~3.2% antifoam agent were mixed, 8%, 2.0~3.8% were respectively obtained. An increasing the amount of latex produced concrete with increased flexural strength, but with slightly lower compressive strength. Rapid chloride permeability and freezing-thawing test carried out. As a results, according to increment of containing ratio antifoamer, strength of RSLMC increase, permeability showed lower value than ignorable 100 coulombs. Also, in the case of more than antifoamer 1.6%, the relativity dynamic modulus is mantained more than 90%, but in case of 0, 5%, it decrease. In consequence, with the view of strength and workability of RSLMC, it is considered that appropriate content ratio of antifoam agent and latex solid are respectively 1.6% by latex weight, 15% by cement weight.

The purpose of this study was to remove the excessive air foaming which was produced in mixing the RSLMC(latex-modified concrete with rapid- setting cement) by choosing the best antifoam agent type and the optimized quantity for performance improved RSLMC. A series of RSLMM(latex-modified mortar with rapid-setting cement) experiments were carried out as the basic for RSLMC with the main experimental variables such as antifiamer types(A, B, C, D), antifoamer contents(0, 1, 2, 3%). Air content test and compressive, flexural tests were carried out to measure the improved properties of RSLMM and RSLMC. Chloride ion permeability test was carried out to estimate water permeability resistance. The results of RSLMM showed that the decrease of 50% air content was obtained by admixturing a antifoam agent by 1%. The compressive strength and flexural strength at 3 hours after RSLMC placement were 235kgf/cm$^2$ and 49kgf/cm$^2$, respectively, which exceeded the flexural strength criterion of 45kgf/cm$^2$ in order to open the RSLMC placed to traffic. The chloride permeability using A and C antifoamer at 28 days were below 100 coulombs, which was the permeability rating of negligible according to ASTM.

The purpose of this study was to discuss how make-up materials were used for the design techniques of special make-up that is part of impersonation, what kinds of materials were applied to special make-up design and how they were utilized, in a bid to find out more materials available for each of diverse design techniques in pursuit of better make-up design. The most widely used materials were divided into transformational and supplementary types, and the focus of this study was placed on two different design techniques. One put transformational materials to use, and the other utilized supplementary materials that also could serve as alternative and effect materials. Unlike general make-up that pursues beauty, special make-up focuses on realistic effect, and it cannot make any progress without newer, diverse materials which are increasingly gaining in importance. Although special make-up designing is a skilled technique that requires systematic knowledge of theories, proper materials and repeated practice, there is no absolute standard for it, since it is a product of imagination and depends on delicate hand skills and its effect hinges on individual viewer's visual perspective. In the future, more comprehensive and broader-scale experiments are called for to tackle this problem.
