  • 차세대 디지털 방송용 메타데이터 표준인 TV-Anytime은 사용자가 직접 원하는 방송을 검색하고 선택하여, 선택한 멀티미디어 데이터를 저장하였다가 시간과 장소에 구애받지 않고 사용할 수 있도록 하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. Mpeg-7은 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 위한 메타데이타 표준으로 본 논문에서는 TV-Anytime 메타데이터에서 부족한 내용기반 검색을 위하여 사용한다. 방송용 메타데이터 관리시스템은 TV-Anytime 메타데이터를 저장, 관리하고 검색하는 기능을 수행할 뿐만 아니라 Mpeg-7을 방송용 메타데이터에 추가하여 사용자에게 보다 풍부한 검색을 가능 하도록 내용기반 검색을 지원한다. 또한 메타데이터 관리시스템은 검색을 위한 질의어로 XML 검색을 위한 표준질의어인 XQuery를 사용하므로 상호 운용성을 높일 뿐만 아니라 향후, XML 데이터의 검색이 필요한 어떠한 응용에서도 사용 가능할 것이다.

  • Interactive TV의 주요 특징으로 고품질, 다채널, 다기능, 양방향성, 지능형 등을 들 수 있는데 그 중에서도 다채널화로 시청자들이 원하는 프로그램을 얼마나 쉽게 빨리 찾을 수 있을 것인가가 문제시되고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 EPG(Electronic Programing Guide) User Interface Design을 함에 있어 레이아웃, 컬러, 텍스트, 아이콘 등의 시각적 요소들과 네비게이션이 잘 구성되어야하고 디지털방송시스템의 기능적인 구조적 특징들이 잘 어울려질 때 진정한 EPG의 사용자 인터페이스 디자인이 탄생한다. 본 연구에서는 현재 방송사들이 사용하고 있는 EPG의 인터페이스 디자인을 분석하고 Interactive TV의 인터페이스 디자인에 관하여 문헌을 통한 연구를 한다. 이를 통해 새로운 EPG 인터페이스 디자인을 들어감에 있어 가이드라인을 제시하고자 한다. 사용자가 좀 더 편리하고 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 디자인을 개발하여 시청자들이 편리하게 사용하여 Interactive TV와의 대화가 원활하게 수행될 수 있도록 하는 것이 본 논문의 궁극적인 목적이다. 향후 본 연구에서 제시한 EPG 사용자 인터페이스 디자인 가이드라인이 EPG를 User Interface Design함에 있어 하나의 좋은 지침서가 될 것이다.

  • In the paper, we propose a TV-anytime codec that encodes and decodes TV-Anytime metadata according to the TV-Anytime specification so that the resulting binary TV-Anytime metadata can be transferred efficiently through the broadcasting network where the data bandwidth is restricted.. We describe the broadcasting environment that the TV-Anytime codec will be applied to, and the required functionalities of the software modules in detail. For the design of software modules, we show how to Implement the modules for metadata fragmentation. encoding, decoding, and the fragments management. The proposed TV-Anytime codec can be utilized as the core components to a personalized digital broadcasting system providing ECG(Electronic Content Guide) and segmentation information services according to TV-Anytime standard.

Moderating Effect of Book Reading in the Relationship between Children's TV Viewing and Creativity (아동의 TV 시청 시간과 창의성 간의 관계에서 책 읽기 시간의 조절 효과)

  • The current research has investigated the effect of school-aged children's TV viewing on their creativity, and examined the moderating effect of book reading in the relationship between children's TV viewing and creativity. Using data from the 10th (2017) Panel Study on Korean Children, the relationship between 9-year-old children's TV viewing, book reading, and performance on Korean Figural Creativity Test for Elementary school Student (K-FCTES) was examined. There was a significant negative correlation between children's TV viewing and creativity, and a positive correlation between children's book reading and creativity. In addition, children's TV viewing had a significant negative effect on their creativity, and children's book reading moderated this relationship. This study has its significance in that it identifies the negative effects of media exposure that needs be considered for creativity development of today's children, who are growing as digital native from birth, and it shows the importance of book reading as a factor that can control the negative effects of TV exposure.

On a Suitable Frequency consideration of 700MHz Band for the disaster radiocommunication followed with DTV frequency reallocation (700MHz대역 DTV용전환에 따른 재난무선통신용 주파수 분배의 정책적 접근방안에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, Switching to digital TV broadcasting and mobile operators license expiration period of the frequency, time and 700MHz, 800MHz and 900MHz frequency band plan for the redistribution is actively being discussed. Redistribution policy direction of these frequency 800MHz (bandwidth 10MHz) integrated command frequency for wireless networks(i.e TETRA) is expected to be considered a redistribution. These Integrated Wireless Network Infrastructure configurations at the time and data communication capabilities of the system unwilling TETRA Release 2 standard for the system is presented. This system is analyzed that Release 1 of the existing system takes up more than 6 times the increase of frequency bands. Therefore, integration of the frequency band assigned to the command of a wireless network with the introduction of advanced systems will not be able to do. In this paper to the digital TV transition, and the policy based on analysis of trends in the 700MHz band for the integration of wireless networks, provides policy direction for the allocation plan.

  • With the advent of digital age, we've come to have an affinity with multimedia, in our daily lives, which has the most visual images. Everyday, more than 90 percent of people watch television, and most of them spend their time watching television and use internet for their leisure time activity. Multimedia change and diversify rapidly and have powerful potential. However, it is true that there is a considerable limit in the use of and application for their function. In this study, I've aimed at supporting the potential of therapeutic function which visual images have as the most powerful brain-stimulating-media. In order to accomplish the purpose of this study, I've placed chroma therapy in the element of video production. Thus, I've produced functional videos which shall be the backbone of video therapy. For EEG and psychology test, 1 chose 25 employees as sample group, and testified the potential of it.

  • Variety media based on the digital technology have emerged from the beginning of the 21th century and have competed with the traditional media in the advertisement market. With the high dependency upon the advertisement market, the Korean media industry has the urgent demand to increase it's pie. Korea regulator allowed PPL and private representatives, which resulted in low outcome. This study analysed the decision factors for the advertising market with the cross-sectional microeconomic data for 28 countries in OECD. The service industry, tax and GDP per capita affect negatively to the market growth rate, and unemployment positively. Therefore the market's growth speed would be slow down and the share of TV decreased. Therefore the two policies were suggested, increasing the direct payment by the audiences and retire of the inefficient broadcasters.

A Parabolic Edge Planar Monopole Antenna for Indoor Digital TV Reception (디지털 TV 실내 수신을 위한 포물선 엣지 형태의 평면 모노폴 안테나)

  • In this paper, a parabolic edge planar monopole antenna for indoor DTV reception is presented. The antenna has broadband property with the planar monopole and ground of parabolic edges. It is designed close to self-complementary structure as changing curvature of edges of monopole and ground. Monopole and ground conductors of the antenna are on the same plane, and excited through CPW feeding. It is fabricated on an FR4 dielectric substrate of $\varepsilon_r=4.4$, and the dimension is $40\;mm{\times}200\;mm{\times}1.6\;mm$. Return loss is larger than 10 dB in 470~806 MHz. Maximum gain is 1.86 dBi on E-plane at 810 MHz and 3.86 dBi on H-plane at 600 MHz.

  • Smart TVs provide a variety of services and information compared to existing TVs based on the Internet. In order to provide more personalized services or information, it is necessary to analyze users' viewing patterns and provide customized services or information based on them. The proposed system receives the user's TV viewing pattern, analyzes it, and recommends a TV program or movie as customized information to the user. For this, the system was constructed with a preprocessor and a deep learning model. The preprocessor refines the name of the TV program watched by the user, the date the TV program was watched, and the watched time. Then, the multi-attribute LSTM model trains the refined data and performs prediction.The proposed system is a system that provides customized information to users, and is believed to be a leading technology in digital convergence that combines existing IoT technology and deep learning technology.

Implementation of Control Point, Digital TV, and Light Controller Emulator on Embedded System Using UPnP Home Networking Control Middleware (홈 네트워킹 제어 미들웨어인 UPnP를 이용한 Control Point 및 내장형 시스템 상에서의 DTV와 전등 제어기 에뮬레이터 구현)

  • In this paper, we have implemented UPnP Devices which emulate a Control Point, a Light Controller, and a Digital TV. The Control Point has been developed on Linux host system by using C language. The UPnP Devices emulating the Digital TV and Light Controller are running on embedded linux developer board. For the development of UPnP Devices, UPnP SDK API Vl.04 made by Intel Co. Ltd. has been ported on Assabet Linux Reference board to implement the UPnP protocol. After we analyze and design some services of Digital TV device, we have applied UPnP Device program to those devices. UPnP SDK vl .04 consists of APIs which support HTTP, SSDP, SOAP, GENA and XML DOM Level-1 that are cores of UPnP protocol. The C program written for the UPnP Control Point has been compiled and executed on Linux-based PC. The embedded system running on Embedded Linux OS has been connected all together through Ethernet which allows IP-based communications. Under this environment, the UPnP programs are being executed on each device. Control Point, when in operational mode, discovers UPnP Devices on the network and displays the device list on the consol. By selecting one of the functionalities of the device services that are displayed on the Control Point, the controllability has been accomplished. The experiment that we performed in this thesis have revealed that the Control Point and UPnP Devices have supported the protocols including SSDP, SOAP, GENA, and DHCP.
