  • A generator is in use for a moving vehicle like car, aircraft, ship as well as key industry including a thermal power plant, a water power plant, a nuclear power plant, and so on. Such the AC generator plays an important role in vehicle, ship, aircraft, and so forth, at the point of generating electric power. Especially in the matter of the ship, the emergency generator system is mounted to provide against malfunction of main generator on a voyage. So, it is ordered that the system can monitor the main generator and operate the emergency generator when the emergency happens. This study is about controller for the emergency diesel engine generator and design of a various software.

Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides with Diesel Oil In Pilot Scale SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) Process (파일럿규모의 선택적촉매환원장치에서 디젤유를 이용한 질소산화물 제거)

  • SCR(selective catalytic reduction) pilot plant for reduction of the nitrogen oxides using diesel oil as a reductant was installed at the NG(natural gas) fired combined cycle and the activity of Pt(0.3%)/Zeolite catalyst was studied in real flue gas condition according to the amount of reductant. reaction temperature and space velocity. NOx conversion gradually increased with increasing the diesel oil concentration up to C/N ratio 5.5(C/N ratio: the ratio of the number of carbon atom to the number of NOx molecules included in the flue gas). Increasing the reaction temperature. NOx conversion increased and reached a maximum conversion of 50% at $190^{\circ}C$. NOx conversion did not changed with increasing the space velocity up to 18,500/hr and then gradually decreased. These results reveal the potential for diesel oil as a reductant for de-NOx SCR process.

  • 공장 단독부하에 전력을 공급하고 있는 디젤발전소에서, 자여자 방식으로 적용된 여자시스템이, 부하변동이 심하여 전압동요가 빈번하게 발생하는 곳에서 적용하기에 부적합한 것으로 판명되었고, 이에 PMG(Permanent Magnet Generator)를 이용한 타여자 방식의 여자시스템으로 변경하여 정상화 시킨 정비사례임.

  • 다단 임팩터는 수십 나노미터에서 수십 마이크로미터 크기의 대기 에어로졸의 입경분포를 측정하는 장비로 사용되어 왔다. 최근에는 전기적 임팩터가 개발되어 기존 다단임팩터의 문제점인 운전이 번거롭고, 측정시간이 오래 걸리는 단점을 보완하였다. 전기적 임팩터는 실시간으로 에어로졸의 크기분포를 측정할 수 있으므로, 대기환경 모니터링, 디젤 자동차에서 배출되는 입자상 물질(PM, particulate matter)의 측정, 대기오염 방시시설을 구비한 공장, 발전소, 소각로 등의 PM 모니터링 시스템 등에 응용될 수 있다.(중략)

  • Development of biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel for commercial uses is a recent phenomenon. However, the growth of ethanol and biodiesel has been impressive during the period 2000-2007yr. Globally, production of biodiesel stands around 8.3 billion liters. Europe leads the world in biodiesel production with 80% share of the global biodiesel production total. Today biodiesel fuels have been in commercial use in many countries and recently the world-wide biodiesel market has experienced considerable growth, which is partly due to various tax concession programs and other financial incentives. In Korea, biodiesel has already been used for transportation fuel, but not used for power generation fuel yet. Korean government has a strategy for renewable energy propagation, especially the goal of power generation amount by renewable energy is 3% of total power production by 2012. This paper focuses on the estimation study for effect of using biodiesel as power generation fuel. The study also has the plan to replace the fuel of thermal power plant, gas turbine and distributed power generation system. As the increase of biodiesel fuel, I look forward to environment-friendly power generation and the strategy of Renewable Portfolio Standards(RPS).

Optimization of Microalgae-Based Biodiesel Supply Chain Network Under the Uncertainty in Supplying Carbon Dioxide (이산화탄소 원료 공급의 불확실성을 고려한 미세조류 기반 바이오 디젤 공급 네트워크 최적화)

  • As fossil fuels are depleted worldwide, alternative resources is required to replace fossil fuels, and biofuels are in the spotlight as alternative resources. Biofuels are produced from biomass, which is a renewable resource to produce biofuels or bio-chemicals. Especially, in order to substitute fossil fuels, the research focusing the biofuel (biodiesel) production based on CO2 and biomass achieves more attention recently. To produce biomass-based biodiesel, the development of a supply chain network is required considering the amounts of feedstocks (ex, CO2 and water) required producing biodiesel, potential locations and capacities of bio-refineries, and transportations of biodiesel produced at biorefineries to demand cities. Although many studies of the biomass-based biodiesel supply chain network are performed, there are few types of research handled the uncertainty in CO2 supply which influences the optimal strategies of microalgae-based biodiesel production. Because CO2, which is used in the production of microalgae-based biodiesel as one of important resources, is captured from the off-gases emitted in power plants, the uncertainty in CO2 supply from power plants has big impacts on the optimal configuration of the biodiesel supply chain network. Therefore, in this study, to handle those issues, we develop the two-stage stochastic model to determine the optimal strategies of the biodiesel supply chain network considering the uncertainty in CO2 supply. The goal of the proposed model is to minimize the expected total cost of the biodiesel supply chain network considering the uncertain CO2 supply as well as satisfy diesel demands at each city. This model conducted a case study satisfying 10% diesel demand in the Republic of Korea. The overall cost of the stochastic model (US$ 12.9/gallon·y) is slightly higher (23%) than that of the deterministic model (US$ 10.5/gallon·y). Fluctuations in CO2 supply (stochastic model) had a significant impact on the optimal strategies of the biodiesel supply network.

  • The failure frequency of the Emergency Diesel Generator(EDG) at Nuclear Power Plants(NPPs) is not so much lower than that of the Marine engines, whereas the running hours of the diesel engine at NPPs is much less than those of the engines for commercial service. The primary factor results from the severe surveillance test requirements such as fast start, large number of starting test, fast load-run, high load running, etc. The other factor comes from the excessive maintenance based on the engine maker's instruction manual that did not incorporate the peculiar characteristics of the diesel engines at NPPs. In this paper, the present preventive maintenance program on the basis of the Pielstick diesel engines was reviewed for the purpose of securing the reliability of the emergency diesel generator at NPPs and the ways for its improvement were presented by referring to the overseas cases for their applications.

  • 여수 국가산업단지, 삼성전자 정전사례에서 볼 수 있듯이 대규모 정전사고는 수백억 이상의 경제적 손실이 뒤따른다. 공장 내에 자체 발전소가 있지만 매번 이런 사고가 재연되어 근본적인 해결책이 필요한 상황이다. UPS 및 디젤발전기를 사용하는 경우, 정전사고로 시 UPS DC bus전압이 일정 수준 이하로 떨어지면 발전기가 기동하여 에너지를 공급하는데 발전기의 특성에 따라 전압의 변동이 심하고 초기기동실패 사례가 종종 보고되고 있다. 본 연구는 연료전지와 전력저장장치의 연계를 통해 산업설비에 안정적으로 전원을 공급하고자 하는 방법에 관한 것으로 연계 제어 로직개발과 Load Leveler, Compensator, STS 등 구성요소 개발을 주요 연구 내용으로 하고 있다. 고온형 연료전지의 열적 안정성을 유지하면서 독립전원의 부하 변동에 대응하기 위한 부가 설비가 기존 제품에 추가 장착되어야 하며, 연계 제어 알고리즘의 확보를 위하여 연료전지 모델링 및 통합시스템 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 이상과 같은 시뮬레이션 및 백업 모듈 설계 결과를 제시하고자 한다.
