The Design Guideline of the Buses as the Transportation Means to the KTX of Small/Medium Cities (중소도시 KTX와 연계교통수단으로서의 버스 디자인 가이드라인)

  • Considering the traffic condition of railroad 'KTX' links to lack of service's punctuality in nation's small/ medium cities, design guidelines with practical railroad transportation policies in terms of convenient railroadbus connection and improving comfortable ride is suggested. Following the guideline and policies, operational requirements of current railroad-bus connection system, the system's design consideration, and transportation policies and laws in relation to the bus operating companies should be analyzed to decide the practicality of the railroad-bus connecting infrastructure. Also, in order to achieve practical railroad-bus connection, connecting buses' design guideline is combined with suggested optimization method of the practicality transportation system. Lastly, the design guideline of buses as 'links,' and railroad transportation policies concerning the operation of connecting bus system for nation's small/medium cities are suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to study the elements that make up the interface design of the applicatio, focusing on Android's Google Material Design Guidelines. and propose a way to produce the UI design guide by categorizing it according to form and combination methods. The components provided by the Materials Design Guidelines were disassembled form and attributes, types, and the characteristics. The components of UI design include surfaces, letters, icons, and media, which enable the creation of UI style guides, and the components for the purpose of exploring and communicating information, with different components and rules of use used for the purpose. Based on these results, I would like to propose design criteria for the interface of mobile applications and how to utilize it effectively.

Development and Application of Guidelines for Cresumer Product Design (크리슈머(Cresumer) 제품 디자인을 위한 가이드라인 개발 및 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop design guidelines for developing innovative products utilizing the characteristics of creative consumers(cresumers) who create alternative usages of consumer products, and to suggest effective way of applying the guidelines in design process. To do this, the study conducted the analysis on the characteristics and types of cresumers and in-depth interviews and observations of actual cresumers. The study was able to initially come up with 131 items in 7 categories through keywordization and affinity analysis of prior outcomes, and reorganized and modified those to 52 items in 4 categories. After verification of co-relationship and credibility analysis with 2 evaluation sessions (7-scale SD), the study has reached 4 categories - product concept development, product development, product use environment, and market possibility - with 46 guideline items. The study developed a design toolkit to effectively apply the guidelines in the product development process. The toolkit consists of three chapters and provides explanations and related examples to clarify the categories and individual guidelines, designed in the form of cards and booklet.

A Proposal for Meta Guideline of Orientate Signage Design based on Information Design (정보디자인 관점에서 방향 안내 표지판 디자인의 메타 가이드라인 제안)

  • Wayfinding is a 'Process solving problem to find destination', and it is important to select spatial data for optimal way. Recently, due to the complexity of space and the expansion of the medium of the wayfinding service, it is necessary to the approach on the information design for them. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose a meta guideline on the information design for the design of orientation sign, which is an important cognitive clue in the wayfinding. It was conducted in 3 stages, First, a design process was proposed and design elements were derived for each step by literature research related to information and sign design, and analysis of manual for signage design. Second, a meta guideline for information organization and visualization in the three-stage design process was proposed by FGI and analysis. Third, the meta guideline was applied to the sign design on an area for user evaluation to inspect the applicability of the meta guideline. Through the user questionnaire, the possibility of applying the guideline for visualization of directions and spaces, information hierarchy according to spatial characteristics and information priority was identified. It is meaningful in that necessary element for signage design are systematized centering on the process and that it presents a macroscopic methodology according to spatial characteristics.

  • The childcare scpace environment greatly affects the growth and development of infant and toddler. Building a comfortable space environment is considered a great social task. Through this study, the current guidelines can be expanded and supplemented by comparatively analyzing the childcare space environment of domestic and foreign guidelines. An integrated guideline with additional suggestions for universal design, scale, dimensions, environment, and finishing materials was derived.

  • Surgical guide not only provide diagnosis and treatment plan, but even location and direction of implantation. Surgical guide could be divided into non-limited design, partially limited design, and completely limited design. Partially limited design is easily manufactured and inexpensive but less accuracy, compared to completely limited design. From this approach, partially limited design may be particularly effective in patients who present with a single missing tooth or partially edentulous teeth. Completely limited design is anatomically accuracy, esthetical and functional, optimized treatment for prosthetic and biomechanical perspective, and also minimizes discomfort for post-treatment. The purpose of this study is to review previous studies of various surgical guides and applying in clinic.

Comparative Evaluation Study with Axillary Crutch Design Variations (겨드랑이 목발의 디자인 비교 연구)

  • In this study, crutch and crutch gait for the handicapped in the lower extremity were discussed, and the study was conducted as a part of long-term research that suggests a practical solution for a crutch design. Three axillary crutches were evaluated in the study by a set of design guidelines for crutches delivered from the advanced research. In this comparative study with axillary crutch design variations, 31 healthy subjects were participated and three crutches were evaluated by ten guidelines. The result showed that Mobilegs-ultra and In-motion Pro were significantly greater than KM Crutch. However, no statistically significant difference was found between Mobilegs-ultra and In-motion Pro. While analyzing with guidelines, Mobilegs-ultra and In-motion Pro were significantly greater than KM Crutch for 6-guideline, but no significant difference was found among three crutches for the guidelines related with Lightweight and Economical feasibility and marketability. The result of the study is expected to be used for a solid foundation to evaluate for the reasonableness of the guidelines with comprehensive analysis for crutch gait evaluation in the further study.

  • 최근 환경오염과 생태학적 환경문제가 사회적 중요한 관심사로 인식되고 있다. 포장디자인에 있어서도 재활용과 재사용에 대한 요구와 함께 스티로폼이나 플라스틱을 대체하는 친환경 포장용기와 생분해성 필름 등의 포장재의 개발과 생산이 점차 증가하고 있다. 이러한 사회적 배경에서 본 연구에서는 환경친화적 포장디자인의 개발을 위한 가이드라인 설정을 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구내용은 환경친화적 디자인의 개념과 에코 포장디자인 적용범주, 국내외 에코패키지의 동향 및 포장재 현황을 살펴보고, 각종 정책과 규정 및 관련지침 등의 이론적 자료들을 근거로 일반적으로 고려되고 있는 에코패키지의 기본 방향과 체크리스트를 분석하였으며 이에 따른 가이드 라인 및 수행 절차를 고찰하였다. 에코 패키지의 기본방향은 첫째, 포장디자인의 제작, 사용, 폐기에 이르는 전과정에서 환경측면을 고려해야 하며 둘째, 비용과 품질, 시장성, 디자인 등 다중요소를 고려해야 한다. 셋째, 디자인 부서와 제품설계부서, 생산부서, 환경팀 등 조직 내의 다른 시스템과 기능적으로 협력하여야 하며 넷째, 기업의 다른 여러 가지 환경 활동을 통해 잠재적인 소비자와 시장을 확대할 수 있다는 것이다. 가이드라인의 내용은 자원 절감과 물질 사용량 절감, 재활용성 확대, 에너지 효율 향상, 유해 물질 저감과 안전성 확보, 폐기 효율성을 중심으로 하고 있다. 환경 친화적 포장디자인의 실천을 통해 환경영향성을 개선하고 비용을 감소시키며 소비자의 이미지 개선에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on Constructing UI Guideline for Mobile Phone through the User Research on Elderly Users (고령 사용자 조사를 통한 유니버설 디자인 휴대폰의 UI 가이드라인 도출에 관한 연구)

  • 핸드폰의 사용이 확대되면서 젊은 층뿐만 아니라 노년층 및 어린이들의 핸드폰 사용도 많이 늘고 있다. 그러나 현재의 핸드폰은 대부분10~30대의 중급 이상의 사용자를 중심으로 설계되어 있어, 이미 생활필수품이 된 휴대폰을 고령 사용자가 사용하기에는 많은 제약 사항이 존재한다. 이런 제약 사항들에는 작은 사이즈의 Font와 같은 물리적 제약에서 단순한 통화방식에 익숙하여 새로운 것을 유연하게 받아들이지 못해서 발생하는 인지적인 제약까지 포함되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 고령 사용자의 일상생활 중 휴대폰 관련된 불편 요소와 특이사항을 조사하여 도출하였던 요구사항을 기반으로 유니버설 디자인 휴대폰의 UI디자인 개발을 위한 가이드라인을 도출하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 고령 사용자의 핸드폰 사용 행태를 관찰하여 현재 휴대폰에서의 사용 문제점을 포함하여 사용상의 특이점을 파악한 후 고령 사용자와 초급 사용자의 불편을 최소화 할 수 있는 유니버설 디자인 휴대폰의 UI가이드라인을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 문헌연구를 통해 유니버설 디자인의 기본 개념을 살펴본 후 문맥적 사용자 조사 기법을 적용하여 1차 사용자 VOC(Voice of Customer)수집 후 주요 사용자 특성을 정의하였으며, 2차 심층 조사를 통해 핸드폰 사용시 노년층의 사용자의 Usage행태 조사를 수행하였다. 2차에 걸친 사용자 조사를 통해 도출된 요구 사항을 종합 분석하여 세분화된 휴대폰의 UI 요소에 따라 디자인 가이드라인을 도출하였다. 본 연구는 고령 사용자의 휴대폰 관련 요구사항을 공용성이 강조된 유니버설 디자인 휴대폰 개념으로 개발하기 위한 전략과 UI 디자인 가이드라인을 제시하고 있다는데 의의가 있다.
