후보종빈돈의 등지방 두께가 첫발정 및 첫수정 시기에 미치는 영향

  • Meat type 의 돼지 개량으로 체조직내 지방함량의 감소에 의하여 종빈돈의 번식성적 저하 및 경제수명이 단축됨에 따라 후보종빈돈의 등지방 두께가 첫발정 및 첫수정 시기에 미치는 영향을 조사하여 후보종빈돈의 번식관리 기술개발에 기초자료로 활용코자 하였다. 공시축은 충남 천안시 소재 중소규모의 양돈장에서 사육하고 있는 후보종빈돈 47두에 대하여 첫 발정일령 및 첫수정일령의 조사와 등지방 두께를 측정하였다. 첫발정일령은 등지방 두께가 13 -16㎜일 때 생후 182.1±17.3일, 17-20㎜일 때 생후 173.0±18.4일, 21-22㎜일 때 생후 162.2±17.8 일로 등지방 두께가 앓을 수록 첫발정시기가 늦어졌다. 첫수정일령은 등지방 두께가 13-16㎜일 때 생후 211.8±14.8 일, 17-20㎜일 때 생후 203.0±24.3일, 21-23㎜ 일 때 생후 195.4±13.2일로 등지방 두께가 밟을 수록 첫수정 시기가 늦어졌다.   • This study was carried out to investigate the carcass grade and characteristics of pigs by carcass weight and backfat thickness. Data used in this experiment were collected and analyzed from a total of 656 pigs composed of 128 gilts and 528 barrows at commercial public slaughter house. The carcass grade of gilts was superior to that of barrow. The carcass weight by gender tended to be heavier in castrated pig than in gilt. Backfat was significantly (p<0.05) thicker in castrated pig than in gilt. Differences between castrated pig and gilt on meat colour, marbling standard, water holding capacity, and marketing age were not significantly found. However, the level of carcass grade was higher ratio in gilt group than in castration. The appearance of percentage of PSE (pale, soft, exudative) of gilt group was superior to that of castrated group. There were significant differences among carcass weight in the marbling score (p<0.05) and water holding capacity (p<0.05). There was significant difference among backfnt thickness in carcass weight (p<0.05), marbling score (p<0.05) and water holding capacity (p<0.05).

  • The objective of this study was carried out investigate the changes of carcass characteristics, physico-chemical characteristics and fatty acid composition in crossbred pigs (Korean native breed ${\times}$ Landrace breed) by backfat thickness. A total 182 Pigs were divided into 3 groups by there backfat thickness, i.e., <11.80mm, $11.80\~25.01mm\;and\;25.01mm<.$ The live weight carcass weight and dressing percent of backfat thickness 25.01mm< group were higher compared to those for backfat thickness <11,80mm and $11.80\~25.01mm group, but the final grade were lower. The pH of backfat thickness 25.01mm< group were higher compared to those for backfat thickness <11.80mm and $11.80\~25.01mm$ group. Shear lone of 25.01 mm< group were lower than that of other groups. Water, crude fat content and cooking loss have no difference between the 3 groups. The hardness of backfat thickness 25.01mm< group were higher compared to those for backfat thickness <11.80mm and $11.80\~25.01mm$ group. The yellowness $(b^*)$ of meat and fat color in backfat thickness 25.01mm< group were lower compared to those for backfat thickness <11.80mm and $11.80\~25.01mm$ group. The stearic acid and saturated fatty acid content were higher compared to those for backfat thickness <11.80mm and $11.80\~25.01mm$ group but the linoleic acid and unsaturated fatty acid content were lower.

Effect of Mating System, Carcass Grade and Age at Marketing on Carcass Characteristics of Pigs (돼지의 교배조합·도체등급 및 출하일령이 도체특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the carcass characteristics of crossbred pigs according to mating system, carcass grade and age at marketing. A total of 656 pigs of 128 gilts and 528 barrows were collected and analyzed at public slaughter house. Differences between LY and LYD crossbred on marbling score and water holding capacity were significantly (p<0.05) found. The influences of LY and LYD crossbred on carcass weight, backfat thickness, meat colour, carcass grade and age at marketing were not significantly showed. The carcass weight of D carcass grade was significantly (p<0.05) heavier than that of the other grade. The backfat thickness was significantly (p<0.05) appeared gradually in accordance with the increase of carcass grade. There was significantly difference among the carcass grades on water holding capacity (p<0.05). The differences among the carcass grades on the meat colour, marbling score and age at marketing were not found significantly. The carcass weight of high age group at marketing was significantly heavier than that of the low age group (p<0.05). The backfat thickness of the group of high age at marketing was significantly thicker than that of the group of low age (p<0.05). There were significant differences among age group at marketing in marbling score, carcass grade, and water holding capacity, respectively (p<0.05). The carcass weight was positively correlated with the backfat thickness but negatively correlated with the carcass grade. The correlation between the backfat and carcass grade was significantly negative. The meat colour was negatively correlated with water holding capacity.

카나다의 돼지유전능력 평가

  • 카나다의 돼지개량에 대한 국가적 유전능력 평가는 산육능력(100kg의 등지방과 일령)과 모돈의 번식능력(총산자수)을 BLUP animal model(최선형 불변예상치 가축모형 : Best Linear Unbiased Predictor Animal Model)을 이용하여 정규적으로 평가하고 있다. 새로운 검정자료가 수집되어 질때마다 매번 BLUP평가가 이루어져 농장으로 제공된다. 현재의 유전능력 변화에 대한 추정가는 연간 등지방 두께 0.35mm와 100kg도달일령 1.5일이 향상되었다. 이것은 1985년 BLUP이 소개된 이전보다 등지방 $50\%$, 일령 20배 이상의 개량효과이다. 그 외에 모돈의 번식형질에 대한 개량은 계속적으로 연구가 진행되고 있으며 국가적 육종계획에는 도체와 육질에 대한 유전적 개량사업이 추진되고 있다.

Studies on Live-carcass Trait of Parity and Region in Hanwoo Cows Measured by Real-time Ultrasound (초음파 진단장치를 이용한 한우 암소의 산차 및 지역별 산육특성 구명)

  • Current study was conducted to investigate the influence of parity and region variation in ultrasound live carcass traits of Hanwoo cows. A total of 1,386 heads of Hanwoo cows, spreading over six regions in Gangwon province of South Korea, were measured for longissimus muscle area, back fat thickness, marbling score and rump fat thickness by using real-time ultrasound method. The results revealed that, positive correlations were found in all ultrasound live carcass traits. All live carcass traits were increased in accordance with parity until the sixth, and then decreased thereafter. Statistical significant differences (p<0.01) were found among regions in ultrasound live carcass traits, e.g. Hanwoo cows showed highest longissimus muscle area and marbling score in Hwacheon, while the lowest back fat thickness and rump fat thickness were observed in Yanggu. Greater longissimus muscle area and marbling scores were found in Hanwoo cows which were born during autumn, 2000. Moreover, individuals born during autumn, 2005 and 2006 showed a thicker back fat and rump fat thickness. Back fat thickness had the highest positive correlation with rump fat thickness, while rib eye area and rump fat thickness had the lowest correlation.

후보 종빈돈의 첫발정일령, 첫수정일령 및 등지방두께가 산자수에 미치는 영향

  • 번식효율이 높은 우수한 후보종빈돈의 조기선발기술을 개발하기 위해 후보종빈돈의 첫발정일령과 첫수정일령 및 첫수정시 등지방두께가 산자수에 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 본 시험에 공시된 후보종빈돈은 충남 천안시에 위치하고 있는 양돈장에서 자돈을 생산ㆍ육성하여 체중 80∼90kg에서 선발하였고, 체중이 약 110kg 도달하였을 때 최종 선발하여 이용하였으며, 사양관리는 양돈장의 관행에 따라 실시하였다. 첫발정조사는 생후 22주령때부터 매일 아침, 저녁으로 2회씩 외음부의 충혈과 부종상태를 관찰하고 승가허용 자세유지 등을 통하여 발정여부를 조사하였다. 교배는 첫발정발견 후 2차 발정이 발현되었을 때 실시하는 것을 원칙으로 하였으며, 수퇘지를 허용하는 시기에 액상적액으로 1차 인공수정하고, 12시간후 2차 인공수정을 실시하였다. 첫수정시에 등지방측정기 (Lean-neater; Renco, U.S.A.)를 이용하여 제 10늑골의 정중선으로부터 좌측 또는 우측으로 약 5cm 이격된 지점을 2회 측정하여 평균치로 하였다. 산자수는 미이라 등을 제외하고 정상적으로 성장하여 분만한 복당자돈수를 조사하였다. 첫발정일령이 160일령이하일때에 산자수는 9.64두였으며, 161∼180일렬인 경우 10.14두, 181∼200일령인 경우 9.56두, 201일령이상인 경우 9.13두로 첫발정일령이 161∼180일이었을때가 산자수가 가장 많았으나 유의적인 차이는 없었다. Effect of Backfat Thickness on the Carcass Grade Factors and Carcass Price in Hanwoo Cows and Steers (등지방 두께가 한우 암소와 거세우의 도체 등급 요인 및 도체가격에 미치는 영향)

  • Analyses were conducted to estimate the effect of backfat thickness (BFT) on carcass grade factors and carcass price in Hanwoo cows and steers. Data on grade factors and prices were collected from 69,159 Hanwoo carcasses (n = 13,376 cows, n = 55,783 steers) abtained at the Nonghyup Seoul slaughter house in 2009. Carcass BFTs were divided into nine categories from ${\leq}$ 3 mm to ${\qeq}$ 25 mm. The average BFTs were 11.93 mm in cows and 12.57 mm in steers. An increase in the BFT resulted in an increase in carcass weight, loin-eye area, skeletal maturity, fat color, but decreases in the yield index and yield grade (from grade A to C) in cows and steers. Carcass unit price (Won/kg) improved if the carcass was sold with a BFT of 13-15 mm in cows and 10-12 mm in steers. Marbling score and quality grade increased significantly to 21 mm BFT but decreased from a BFT of 22 mm in cows and steers. BFT was significantly correlated with yield index (cow, r = $-0.97^{**}$; steer, r = $-0.96^{**}$), marbling score (cow, r = $0.20^{**}$; steer, r = $0.14^{**}$), and carcass price (cow, r = $0.03^{**}$; steer, r = $-0.11^{**}$). These results could be used as a fundamental dataset for further research to increase the productivity of Hanwoo carcasses.

Analysis of Carcass Quality Grades According to Gender, Backfat Thickness and Carcass Weight in Pigs (비육돈의 성별·등지방두께 및 도체중별 육질등급 분석)

  • This study was carried out to investigate carcass grade of pigs according to gender, feed intake, backfat thickness, carcass weight, etc. Data from a total of 26,983 heads in 5 farms were collected. The results obtained were as follows; The difference was significantly found in carcass quality grade between barrows and gilts (p<0.001). The meat grade $1^+$ was high in gilts, but meat grade 1 was high in barrows, respectively. The carcass weight of 85.8 kg was lightly shown significantly (p<0.05) in group I taken little quantity of feed consumption. However, that of 89.5 kg was heavily shown in group IV taken plenty of feed consumption. Meat grade 2 was significantly (p<0.001) high ratio in group of backfat thickness with less than 15 mm (67.5%). However, the ratio for the grade 1 was high in group of 15~19 mm. The ratio for the meat grade 2 was highly shown in group of carcass weight with more than 85 kg (54.3%). On the other hand, that of grade 1 was highly shown in group of 78~84 kg. In conclusion, pigs for marketing to enhance high quality have been appropriately raised with the optimum system in consideration of feed intake, carcass weight, backfat thickness, etc.

  • These studies were performed to improve the reproductive efficiency of gilts and we investigated the effects of puberty periods, first mating time and backfat thickness and will adapt to these results for early selection of excellent gilts. The main results were as follows; 1. First heats on birth season were showed 194.14 day, 163.25 day, 160.25 day and 157.92 day at birth of spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively and birth of spring was significantly latest among other seasons (p<0.01). 2. First service on birth season were revealed 222.05 day in spring, 193.00 day in summer, 199.20 day in autumn and 190.11 day in winter. birth of spring was significantly latest among others (p<0.01). 3. First heat period of cadidated gilt had 13∼16 mm backfat thickness was 180.32 day, 171.24 day in 17∼20 mm and 162.20 day in 21∼23 mm and was showed delay in thin backfat gilts. There was no differences among backfat thickness. 4. First service of cadidate gilt had 13∼16mm backfat thickness was 211.12 day, 202.43 day in 17∼20 mm and 195.43 day in 21∼23 mm and was showed delay in thin backfat gilts. There was no differences among backfat thickness. 5. The litter size were 9.64 in gilts under 160 day of first heat, 10.14 in 161∼180 day, 9.56 in 181∼200 day and 9.13 in over 201 day. There showed the largest litter size in 161∼180 day of first heat but was no differences. 6. The litter size in gilts under 180 day of first service was 9.13, 9.75 in 181∼200 day, 10.13 in 201∼220 day and 9.45 in over 221 day. There showed the largest litter size in 201∼220 day of first service but was no differences. 7. The litter size of gilt had 13∼16 mm backfat thickness on first service was 9.33, 9.81 in 17∼20 mm and 10.17 in 21∼23 mm and was showed delay in thin backfat gilts. There was no differences among backfat thickness.
