Real estate market participants need to have a sense of predicting real estate prices in decision-making. Commonly used methodologies, such as regression analysis, ARIMA, and VAR, have limitations in predicting the value of an asset, which fluctuates due to unknown variables. Therefore, to mitigate the limitations, an artificial neural was is used to predict the price trend of apartments in Seoul, the hottest real estate market in South Korea. For artificial neural network learning, the learning model is designed with 12 variables, which are divided into macro and micro factors. The study was conducted in three ways: (Ed note: What is the difference between case 1 and 2? Is case 1 micro factors?)CASE1 with macro factors, CASE2 with macro factors, and CASE3 with the combination of both factors. As a result, CASE1 and CASE2 show 87.5% predictive accuracy during the two-year experiment, and CASE3 shows 95.8%. This study defines various factors affecting apartment prices in macro and microscopic terms. The study also proposes an artificial network technique in predicting the price trend of apartments and analyzes its effectiveness. Therefore, it is expected that the recently developed learning technique can be applied to the real estate industry, enabling more efficient decision-making by market participants.

Experiments were performed to study the cyclic behavior of framed steel walls with thin web plates. Five specimens of single-bay and three-story steel plate walls were tested for cyclic lateral load. The parameters for the test specimens included the plate thickness and the column strength. Based on the test results, the strength, deformability, and energy dissipation capacity of the framed steel walls were studied. The test results showed that the behavioral characteristics of the framed steel walls with thin web plates were different in many aspects from those of the conventional braced frame, and the steel wall with a stiffened web plate exhibited cantilever action, high strength, and low ductility. With the framed steel plate walls, local plate buckling and tension-field action developed in the thin web plates, and plastic deformation was uniformly distributed along the wall's height. As a result, the framed steel plate walls exhibited combined flexural and shear deformation, but they also showed high strength and energy dissipation capacity. Moreover, such walls have high deformability, which was equivalent to that of the conventional moment frame. Frame members such as columns and beams, however, must be designed to resist the tension-field action of the thin web plates. If the column does not have sufficient strength, and if its sections are not compact enough, the overall strength of the framed steel wall might be significantly decreased by the development of the soft-story mechanism. The framed steel walls with thin web plates have advantages, such as high deformability and high strength. Therefore, they can be used as ductile elements in earthquake-resistant systems.

The electromagnetic force induced by an intense electric current pulse, which generates an electromagnetic field around the metal jet originating from a shaped charge, can disperse and scatter the high-speed metal jet. An electric device consisting of an RLC circuit applies an intense electric current pulse that flows in the circuit while the metal jet passes between two electrodes. In this study, the metal jet formation was simulated using the ALE technique in 2-D, and a 3-D finite element model was mapped using 2-D simulation results to induce the electric current directly. The deformed shapes of the metal jet and the electromagnetic force were calculated using a finite element analysis by inducing the electric current directly, and the major parameters of the intense electric current pulse for breaking up the metal jet were examined.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate failure characteristics of Carbon/BMI-Nomex honeycomb sandwich on design parameters. A total of 6 types sandwich specimens were manufactured according to core height, face thickness and density, and environmental condition were applied to evaluate temperature and humidity effects of one of these specimens. The test results show that the core shear buckling loads was commonly observed in all specimens except for the joint with density of $64kg/m^3$. After core shear buckling, however, the joint carried additional loads over the buckling loads and then finally failed in the upper face and lower face at the same time. In the case of specimen having high stiffness, the maximum failure load was low due to interfacial failure of the upper face and core without initial core shear buckling. The ETW1 and ETW2 conditions, which were carried out to evaluate the environmental condition of the sandwich specimen, show an initial failure mode which was significantly different from RTD condition. Also, the ETW2 condition with increased temperature under the same humidity shows that the core shear buckling load was 18% less than ETW1 condition.

In this study, a standard tensile welded-joint test was conducted to select a welding electrode suitable for recently developed HSA800 steel. Two welding electrodes were available at the time of this study; one was GMAW-based and the other FCAW-based. The tensile test specimens were fabricated by joining 60mm-thick HSA800 plates according to the AWS-prequalified groove welded joint details. Specimens which violate the standard root opening distance (ROD) were also included to see if poor construction tolerance could be accommodated. During fabrication, serious concerns about the welding efficiency of the GMAW-based product were raised by a certified welder. Both welding electrodes showed satisfactory and similar performance from welded joint strength perspective. But groove welded joints made by using the FCAW-based rod consistently showed more ductile and stable behavior. The AISC provisions for PJP joint strength were shown to be very conservative under direct tensile loading. Violating the AWS prequalified ROD by 100% apparently passed the strength criteria, but unusual crater-like fracture surface was observed.
In the present study, details of the TSC beam-to-PSRC column connection for low and middle seismic zones were developed. For ease construction, the top and bottom flanges of the steel section of the TSC beam were discontinuous at the joint face on purpose, while the web passes through the joint. Thus, tensile resistance of the top and bottom flanges is not considered in the calculation of nominal strength of the connection. Cyclic loading tests on two interior connections and an exterior connection were performed to verify the seismic performance. The test parameter for two interior connections was the depth of the TSC beams: 600 and 700 mm including the slab depth. The test results showed that the nominal strength of the connections predicted by KBC 2009 correlated well with the test results. The connection specimens exhibited relatively good deformation and energy dissipation capacities, greater than the requirements for the ordinary and intermediate moment frames. Ultimately, the connection specimens were failed at the story drift ratios of 3.0 to 4.0 % due to local buckling and tensile fracture of the web of the TSC beam passing through the joint. By modifying the existing provisions of ASCE, the joint shear strength of the TSC beam-PSRC column connection was evaluated.
The development length equations of the GFRP rebars are suggested based on the pullout tests performed in this study. A total of 48 pullout and modified pullout tests were completed. Test variables included embedment length (L=10, 15, 20, and $30d_b$), vertical and horizontal installation of the rebars, height of the rebars (H=100 and 300 mm), and cover thickness $(C=2{\sim}5d_b)$. D13 GFRP rebars domestically developed were used in the experimental program. The average of the bond strength of all vertically installed GFRP rebars was 6.39 MPa with a 5% fractile of 4.63 MPa. A basic development length equation was derived that resulted in an equation equivalent to the one proposed in the ACI 440.1R-03. Careful reevaluation of the bond strength using the modified pullout test indicated that a modification of the design equation was necessary so that the basic development length increases by 11%. The top bar effect of the horizontally installed rebars as well as the effect of the cover thickness were determined and included in the set of suggested equations. Since the current equations were derived from testing rebars embedded in relatively low strength concrete $(f_{ck}=20{\sim}24MPa)$, they result in conservative development lengths when applied to bars embedded in higher strength concretes.
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), one of lightweight materials, is the fiber structure using carbon fiber. It is the composite material that has the characteristics of carbon and plastic. As for the fiber structure, it has the great strength due to fiber direction. CFRP for woven type is used mostly as such a CFRP with lightweight. Woven type is more stable when compared with unidirectional type. On the other hand, woven type is highly priced. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the fiber structure of unidirectional CFRP. In this study, as the stacking angle [0/X/-X/0], X is the variable. This is unidirectional CFRP in which the angle phase of X has been reversed and stacked. By using such a unidirectional CFRP, the analysis model which had a crack at the center as the form of panel with the thickness of 2 mm was used. On analysis, the load is applied on the upper and lower parts being connected with a pin. The damage in the area near center crack was investigated. As for the analysis model, 3D surface model was designed by using CATIA. For CFRP stacking, the stacking direction was determined by using ACP in ANSYS program and the analysis model with two stacks was made. Afterwards, the structural analysis was carried out.

The purpose of this study is to improve the fire prevention performance using the fire venetian blind louver subjected to burning by fire flame. The investigation is based on testing 2 full scale specimens, which is $3m{\times}3m$ module, $850mm{\times}1,500mm$ open, and $900mm{\times}900mm{\times}175mm$ venetian blind louver. Two louver thickness (1.5 and 2.0mm) were adopted. The specimens were exposed to fire flame temperature levels of ISO834 at the lower surface of the fire venetian blind louver specimens with exposure duration of one hour in Korea Institute of Construction Technology (KICT). It was found from the test results that the values of distributed temperature, decreased for all specimens for protecting to fire flame by venetian blind louver. The results of tests were a good fire prevention performance between in initial to 6 mins. At 60 minutes around ISO 834 fire loading, the percentages of distributed temperature in 500mm and 800mm height ranged between 11 and 10% respectively, regardless of louver thickness. This study, therefore, will improve the fire venetian blind louver for fire protection and prevention performance.
