In this paper, numerical simulations are performed on the lock-in phenomena of vortex induced vibration(VIV) of a two dimensional cylinder. A deforming grid as well as a rigidly moving grid are used to simulate the movement of the cylinder. The grid deformation is accomplished by the linear spring analogy. Converged solutions, which are obtained by controling the grid size and the non-dimensional time step, are used for comparison and validation of the analysis results. Moreover, the efficiency and the accuracy of the coupling methods for fluid-structure interaction are examined.

Unsteady numerical simulations of pintle nozzles were implemented for solid rocket thrust vector control. The variation of pintle location was considered using unsteady numerical techniques, and dynamic characteristics of various pintle models were investigated. In order to consider the variation of the pintle location, a moving mesh method was applied. The effects of shape and location of the pintle nozzle have been analytically investigated. And the results were compared with numerical results. The chamber pressure, mass flow and thrust are analyzed to take account dynamic characteristics of pintle performance.

Grid structures are extensively used in bridge and slab strucures. When the elements are assembled for the entire structure the number of degree of freedom may be very large and thus, the stiffness, mass, and damping matrices become of large dimension. Undoubtedly, determining natural frequencies and mode shapes of such structures are complicated and require large computer costs. For these reasons various eigenvalue economizer procedures have been developed, which serve to reduce the number of degree of freedom. This paper proposes an economic method of dynamic analysis of grid stuctures using static and dynamic condensation techniques. The accuracy and economy of this method are investigated by comparing some results of model analysis of N-degree of freedom. It has been shown that the method achieves remarkable economy at only a little cost of accuracy.

In this study, an analysis of the thermo-fluid dynamic and missile-motion performance was carried out through a numerical simulation inside the missile canister. Calculation was made in an analytical volume using dynamic grid and evaporated water was used as a coolant. To analyze the interaction among the hot gas, coolant, and mixture flow, Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence and VOF (Volume Of Fluid) model were chosen and a parametric study was performed with the change of coolant flow rate. As a result of the analysis, pressure of the canister showed a large difference depending on the presence or absence of the coolant, and also showed a dependancy on the amount of coolant. Velocity and acceleration were dependent on the canister pressure.

A dynamically-interfaced multi-grid finite difference model for simulation of tsunamis in the East Sea(Choi et al.) was established and further applied to produce detailed feature of coastal inundations along the whole eastern coast of Korea. The computational domain is composed of several sub-regions with different grid sizes connected in parallel of inclined directions with 16 innermost nested models. The innermost sub-region represents the coastal alignment reasonably well and has a grid size of about 30 meters. Numerical simulations have been performed in the framework of shallow-water equations(linear, as well as nonlinear) over the plane or spherical coordinate system, depending on the dimensions of the sub-region. Results of simulations show the general agreements with the observed data of run-up height for both tsunamis. The evolution of the distribution function of tsunami heights is studied numerically and it is shown that it tends to the log-normal curve for long distance from the source.
The study on traffic assignment is actively being performed which reflect networks status using time. Its background is increasing social needs to use traffic assignment models in not only hardware area of road network plan but also software area of traffic management or control. In addition, multi-class traffic assignment model is receiving study in order to fill a gap between theory and practice of traffic assignment model. This model is made up of two, one of which is multi-driver class and the other multi-vehicle class. The latter is the more realistic because it can be combined with dynamic model. On this background, this study is to build multidynamic model combining the above-mentioned two areas. This has been a theoretic pillar of ITS in which dynamic user equilibrium assignment model is now made an issue, therefore more realistic dynamic model is expected to be built by combining it with multi-class model. In case of multi-vehicle, FIFO would be violated which is necessary to build the dynamic assignment model. This means that it is impossible to build multi-vehicle dynamic model with the existing dynamic assignment modelling method built under the conditions of FIFO. This study builds dynamic network model which could relieve the FIFO conditions. At the same time, simulation method, one of the existing network loading method, is modified to be applied to this study. Also, as a solution(algorithm) area, time dependent shortest path algorithm which has been modified from existing shortest path algorithm and the existing MSA modified algorithm are built. The convergence of the algorithm is examined which is built by calculating dynamic user equilibrium solution adopting the model and algorithm and grid network.

This research presents an efficient method based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for estimating the resistance performance of a ship with a large settlement amount and a dynamic trim. The settlement of the inviscid flow analysis and the results of dynamic trim were used to set a large attitude for the ship prior to performing a viscous flow analysis; a viscous flow analysis was subsequently performed by Dynamic Fluid Body Interaction (DFBI). This method is termed as method I, in which a simple grating system can be used without employing the overset mesh technique by setting many attitudes before interpretation. Thus, method I is advantageous in reducing calculation time and improving calculation accuracy. The viscous flow analysis was performed using a commercial CFD code STAR-CCM+. Compared with the final convergence result, the first viscous flow analysis result of method I exhibited a variation of less than 1 % of resistance. The result was obtained by changing the gratings each time an attitude is changed at each calculation stage, based on the DFBI method provided to STAR-CCM+ using a simple grating system, which is not a superposed grating. This method is termed as method II. Compared with method II of resistance, method I exhibited a dif erence of 0.03-0.6 % for linear velocity. The results of method I were confirmed to be qualitatively and quantitatively appropriate through comparison with several trillion simulations.

A wavelength-demodulation algorithm for FBG sensor is proposed by using a double-pass Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Zero-crossing points of double-passed interference signal are used to trigger the accurate $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference positions in the sensor signal, which is an essential condition in the subsequent arctangent and phase unwrapping signal processing. With the proposed method, we could efficiently measure various measurands, such as dynamic-, static-strain, and temperature, and ${\sim}8pm$ of wavelength resolution was obtained.
Subspace clustering for online data streams requires a large amount of memory resources as all subsets of data dimensions must be examined. In order to track the continuous change of clusters for a data stream in a finite memory space, in this paper, we propose a grid-based subspace clustering algorithm that effectively uses memory resources. Given an n-dimensional data stream, the distribution information of data items in data space is monitored by a grid-cell list. When the frequency of data items in the grid-cell list of the first level is high and it becomes a unit grid-cell, the grid-cell list of the next level is created as a child node in order to find clusters of all possible subspaces from the grid-cell. In this way, a maximum n-level grid-cell subspace tree is constructed, and a k-dimensional subspace cluster can be found at the kth level of the subspace grid-cell tree. Through experiments, it was confirmed that the proposed method uses computing resources more efficiently by expanding only the dense space while maintaining the same accuracy as the existing method.

In the present study, a new method of generating boundary-fitted coordinates systems controlled by control function is introduced. Application of the method to a three-dimensional simply-connected region is the demonstrated. The numerical grid generation has following feat ures, (a) The generated boundary fitted coordinates is well concentrated in near wall region and satisfied orthogonality, (b) The grid control function is fully automatic and well controlled in sharp convex boundary.
