  • In this paper, we described the real-time implementation effort of MPEG-4 audio HVXC (Harmonic Vector eXcitation Coding) algorithm for very low bitrates, which has target applications from mobile communications to Internet telephony, on current high performance floating point TMS320C6701 DSP. We adopted a hardware structure for real-time operation. In order for software optimization, we used C- and assembly-language level optimizations for time-critical functional codes. Utilizing the internal program memory of the DSP as the program cache, the internal data memory overlap technique and DMA functionality, we could get a goal of realtime operation of HVXC codec both at 2 kbit/s and at 4 kbit/s. For an encoder at 2 kbit/s, the optimization ratio to original code is about 96 %. Finally, we got the subjective quality of MOS 2.45 at 2 kbit/s from an informal quality test.

  • A script language, which represents and controls avatar behaviors in a natural language style, is especially remarkable, because it can provide a fast and easy way to develop an animation scenario script. However, the studies that consider avatar behavior interactions with various virtual objects and intuitive interface techniques to design scenario script have been lack. Therefore, we proposed a context-based avatar-object behavior model and layered script language. The model defines context-based elements to solve ambiguity problems that occur in abstract behavior interface and it provides user interface to control avatar in the object-based approach. Also, the proposed avatar behavior script language consisted of a layered structure that represents domain user interface, motion sequence, and implement environment information at each level. Using the proposed methods, the user can conveniently and quickly design an avatar-object behavior scenario script.

  • As a system becomes more complex, a design relies more heavily on a methodology based on high-level abstraction and functional verification. SystemVerilog includes characteristics of hardware design language and verification language in the form of extensions to the Verilog HDL. However, the OOP of System Veri log does not allow multiple inheritance. In this paper, we propose adoption of SystemC to introduce multiple inheritance. After being created, a SystemC unit is combined with a SystemVerilog-based verification environment using SystemVerilog DPI and ModelSim macro. Employing multiple inheritance of SystemC makes a design of a verification environment simple and easy through source code reuse. Moreover, a verification environment including SysemC unit has a benefit of reconfigurability due to OOP.

  • In this paper, we propose a synthesis method of software fault tree from software requirements specification written in NuSCR formal specification language. The software fault tree, proposed in this paper, reflects requirements on both structure and behavior and it is an integrated form. The software fault tree can be used for analyzing safety in the view of structure and behavior. We propose templates for each components in NuSCR specification language and a synthesis method of software fault tree using the templates. The research was applied into the main trip logic of the reactor protection system of ARP1400, the Korean next generation nuclear reactor system, developed by KNICS. And we evaluate feasibility of our approach through this case study.

  • In this paper, we propose a new network ASIP(Application Specific Instruction-set Processor) which was designed for simulation models by a machine descriptions language LISA(Language for Instruction Set Architecture). This network ASIP is aimed for an exclusive engine undertaking packet processing in a router. To achieve the purpose, we added a new necessary instruction set for processing a general ASIP based on MIPS(Microprocessor without Interlock Pipeline Stages) architecture in high speed. The new instructions can be divided into two groups: a classification instruction group and a modification instruction group, and each group is to be processed by its own functional unit in an execution stage. The functional unit was optimized for area and speed through Verilog HDL, and the result after synthesis was compared with the area and operation delay time. Moreownr, it was allocated to the Macro function ana low-level standardized programming language C using CKF(Compiler Known Function). Consequently, we verified performance improvement achieved by analysis and comparison of execution cycles of application programs.

  • Mutation analysis (or software mutation analysis) generates variants of a target program by injecting systematic code changes to the target program, and utilizes the variants to analyze the target program behaviors. Effective mutation analyses require adequate mutation operators that generate diverse variants for use in the analysis. However, the current mutation analysis tools for Java programs have limitations, since they support only limited types of mutation operators and do not support recent language features such as Java8. In this study, we present Mutagen4J, a new mutant generation tool for Java programs. Mutagen4J additionally supports mutation operators recently shown to generate various mutants and fully supports recent Java language features. The experimental results show that Mutagen4J generates useful mutants for analyses 2.3 times more than the existing Java mutation tools used for the study.

  • This study is intended to find out pre-service teachers' perceptions of effective teaching behaviors. 89 pre-service teachers observed teaching demonstrations of each other and rated the degree of importance of teaching behaviors and their own performance level. It was found that Class Operations received the highest score in both the importance and performance levels, followed by Lesson Organizations and Verbal Expressions. However, they considered Gesture and Clothing as well as Facial Expressions and Gaze less important. The results of t-tests showed that the differences between the importance and performance levels for all five areas were statistically significant. The results of importance-performance analysis indicated that Verbal Expressions, Eye Contacts, Time Control, and Emphasis on Important Contents are the factors which need to be improved for effective teaching.

  • In this paper, we design and implement an educational robot system that can use scratch education with the function of user demanding to perform robot education in actual school site in an embedded environment. It is developed to enable physical education for sensing information processing, software design and programming practice training that is the basis of robotic system. The development environment of the system is Arduino Uno based product using Atmega 328 core, debugging environment based on Arduino Sketch, firmware development language using C language, OS using Windows, Linux, Mac OS X. The system operation process receives the control command of the server using the Bluetooth communication, and drives various sensors of the educational robot. The curriculum includes Scratch program and Bluetooth communication, which enables real-time scratch training. It also provides smartphone apps and is designed to enable education like C and Python through expansion. Teachers at the school site used the developed products and presented performance processing results satisfying the missionary needs of the missionaries.

  • We suggest a distributed communication and management methodology using PC to PC Query multicasting strategy for efficient management of medical images produced by DICOM(Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) Modalities. It is absolutely necessary to reduce strict degradation of PACS system due to large sire of medical images and their very high transport rates. DICOM PC to PC Component is composed of a Service Manager to execute requested queries, a Communication Manager to take charge of file transmission, and a DICOM Manager to manage stored data and system behavior Each Manager itself is a component to search for requested file by interaction or to transmit the file to other PCs. Distributed management and transformation of medical information based on PC to PC Query multicasting methodology will enhance performance of central server and network capacity, reducing overload on both. We organize three major components for system operation. Each component is implemented as Agent. Communication between agents uses XML encoded Agent Communication Language.

  • NIST in the United States has developed SCAP, a protocol that enables automated inspection and management of security vulnerability using existing standards such as CVE and CPE. SCAP operates by creating a checklist using the XCCDF and OVAL languages and running the prepared checklist with the SCAP tool such as the SCAP Workbench made by OpenSCAP to return the check result. SCAP checklist files for various operating systems are shared through the NCP community, and the checklist files include ID, title, description, and inspection method for each item. However, since the inspection items are simply listed in the order in which they are written, so it is necessary to classify and manage the items by type so that the security manager can systematically manage them using the SCAP checklist file. In this study, we propose a method of extracting the description of each inspection item from the SCAP checklist file written in OVAL language, classifying the categories through a machine learning model, and outputting the SCAP check results for each classified item.
