The purpose of this study is to develop a guideline for user based collection development of the military library. A questionnaire survey of 1,000 soldiers of armed forces selected from two military divisions was conducted. The survey results show the needs for the sufficient collections with diverse subject areas. current materials. and Periodicals. and also suggestion of the programs for encouraging soldiers to read.

The purpose of this study is to develop the categories of the bibliotherapy Program in the public libraries and to evaluate the effect of group bibliotherapy program for the decreasing aggressive behavior of the elementary school children. The purpose of this study was to suggest effective reading guidance using studying cartoons for the reading motivation. We conducted a survey at 3 junior high schools in Chung-Nam province, consisting of 182 students in 6 classes in an attempt to analyze what motivates reading. We propose strategies that can encourage students to read using cartoons, books, and multimedia guides.

This study was carried out to survey and analyze the actual state of reading in Goyang citizens, and to utilize it as a base data for Goyang City's 2nd 'Reading Culture Promotion Plan'. To do this, including references related to reading survey and the 2021 National Reading Survey questionnaire survey questions, the questionnaires that reflected characteristics of adult and student respondents constructed. Then, the survey of 960 adults and 540 students in Goyang City conducted and analyzed the results, and several useful suggestions deduced for 'Goyang City Reading Culture Promotion Plan'. First, the category of reading materials have to be expanded from the paper media to the various media. Second, the expandation of collections in libraries and the services that will help actually buy books are necessary. Third, various reading programs should develop, and the opportunities for citizens to participate in reading and club activities through online should also be increased. Fourth, the facilities and service environments for activating reading should ensure that the accessibility of everyday life. Finally, among the existing reading culture promotion projects, the 'smart libraries', 'Inter-library loan services', 'reading and cultural programs management', and 'Goyang Book Pay' projects need to be sustained and expanded. This study is significant in that it has investigated the actual reading situation of real citizens and has converged the opinions necessary for setting the direction of the effective 'Goyang City reading culture promotion plan'.

This study investigated IRA's 3 standards related to reading instruction and examined the value which can be meaningful to Korean situation. IRA divided reading educators into 7 types and proposed each detailed professional standard through the 'Standards for reading professionals'. The next standard called 'Standards for the English language art' described their direction and content for English language education including reading instruction. The 'Standards for the assessment of reading and writing' aims at the basis to evaluate students' reading ability. The value found through these standards is as follow: IRA's reading professionals standard can be a useful way to define the type of reading educator in Korea. A reading instruction standard like IRA's language art standard can guide reading instruction of Korean libraries in a more systemic and consistent way. A valid evaluation standard to measure students' reading ability can show the possibilities to define the students who struggle with reading and to provide more suitable instruction for them.

This study is to produce baseline data, in its purpose of improving the quality of life of industrial workers as well as the business competitiveness, though improvements in reading culture. The data produced in this study will be based on questionnaire, regarding sub-topics of the reading environment, the status of reading culture, and remaining demands. The results argue that the responding workers in Siheung Smart Hub Complex had inadequate environment of reading, while had weak status of reading culture. We propose the ways of improvements in the reading culture of the worker in Siheung Smart Hub Complex, as well as their reading infrastructure.

According to statistics, regarding book reading rates and the number of books read per person, adult literary reading in Korea is very active, even though Internet usage has increased over the last few years. This study plans to discover some practical methods of maintaining this dynamic trend. At present the overall book reading rate in Korea is second to Sweden and the number of books read per person is increasing every year. This study examines the activities of the public libraries in promoting reading the UK, where the book reading rate has been high and a reading renaissance has occurred, as in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of reading role model (parents, teachers, and friends) and reading effectiveness (reading satisfaction, willingness to persistent reading, immersed reading) reflected on middle school students' academic achievement (Korean Language performance and middle school record). As a result of the analysis, the factors affecting the performance of Korean Language were father (1.9%) and mother (3.4%) among reading role models. Among reading effectiveness factors, willingness to persistent reading (8%) was the only effective factor. In the case of the middle school record, the mother (3.4%) had the only effect among the reading role models, and reading effectiveness was influenced all factors such willingness to persistent reading (10.4%), immersed reading (4.0%) and reading satisfaction (1.9%). However, except for the factor willingness to persistent reading, the it found the influence was insignificant.

China's reading campaign has started as part of youth education since 1993 and also has been conducted as government-level 'national reading activities' since 2006. This study was conducted to investigate and analyzed China's reading campaign as part of overseas case study of reading campaign, based on literature studies and internet survey method as well as meta study. As regard reading status, Chinese people's reasons to read or not to read books plus reading rate and reading amount were reviewed and the background, operation style and major activities of 'national reading activities' were investigated. The characteristics and problems of China's reading campaign were reviewed and 1) national level reading campaign, 2) intensive reading campaign through common subject and 3) youth reading education for self-education and character development were put forth for the betterment of reading campaign in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to suggest reading education plan by exploring the characteristics of peer-relationship networks of elementary school students, and grasping the effects of those characteristics on the reading competencies. Social network analysis method was used, and centrality analysis, QAP correlation and QAP multiple regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between peers and reading competencies. The findings show that the help relationship rather than peer characteristics and friend relationship was related to reading competencies. However, since the friend relationship has an effect on the help relationship, it is also found that the relationship between the friend and the help relationship network should be considered in order to improve the reading competencies. This network analysis results are meaningful in reading education plan in the sense that they suggest a useful guideline for the formation of members ranging from individuals, small groups, to a whole class, and for periodical activities considering situation and learning purposes such as before, during, and after reading activities.
