A Study on the Prediction of Surface Subsidence Zone through the Case Studies on Mined-out Area (채굴적에 의한 지반침하 사례 분석을 통한 침하발생 범위의 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Graphical method has been widely applied to the prediction of subsidence area, and is known to have advantages in analysis of trough subsidence which is common in horizontally seamed mine area. However, it is reported that most of the ore bodies in Korea are geologically inclined from sub-horizontal to steep, and therefore, the sinkhole subsidence is frequent in abandoned mine area. For these reasons, it is not to be desired that graphical method is applied for predicting the subsidence occurrence. This paper describes the results of subsidence zone prediction considering the dip direction and the opposite direction of inclined ore bodies from the case studies on the 163 subsidence occurrence regions. The results show also the assumed angle which can define the range of subsidence in the surface area. In conclusion, the limit of this angle is suggested after taking into account the comparison with graphical method and the application to the case histories.

  • Insufficient reinforcement for maximizing payability and benefits in mining cavities causes subsidence problems and it threatens residents' lives and properties. So many reinforcement management methods are developed and now various methods are being applied in the field. Among them, a filling method which sends reinforcement materials in the cavities is used extensively. However, domestic geological condition and coal mining methods are so complicate that make many steep cavities. Because of those problems, it is difficult to apply foreign methods directly, which is valid for horizontal cavities. In this study, the injection volume of quick setting grouting material which is developed for filling cavities in domestic condition and the shape of consolidated bodies are investigated. And a programming method for estimating proper injection amounts of filling materials is proposed. The results are verified by numerical analysis using UDEC.

Evaluation of Probable Rainfall Intensity Formula Considering the Locality of Rainfall Pattern Change at Incheon City (국지성 호우패턴 변화를 고려한 인천지역 확률강우강도식의 산정)

  • 본 논문은 최근 발생한 집중호우와 이상강우를 고려하여 인천지역에서 사용중인 확률강우강도식에 대한 새로운 확률강우강도식을 제안하였으며, 기상청 자료를 이용하여 지속시간 10분${\sim}$24시간까지의 임의시간 연최대강우량을 산정하였다. 강우지속기간별 확률강우량을 추정하기 위하여 11개의 확률분포형을 적용하였으며 Chi-square 검정방법, Kolmogorov -Smirnov 검정방법, Cramer Von Mises 검정방법으로 적합도 검정과 함께 최근 강우에 대한 경향을 분석하고 실제 발생한 강우 중에서 최대 발생 강우량을 고려하여 적정분포인 GEV 분포를 확률 분포형으로 선정하였다. 확률강우강도식은 최소자승법을 사용하여 Talbot형, Sherman형, Japanese형, 통합형 Ⅰ 및 Ⅱ 형태로 산정하였고, 지역내 하수도 및 하천의 지속시간을 감안하여 확률강우강도식을 결정하였다. 또한 정확성을 고려하여 통합형 Ⅰ을 선택하였고 지속시간에 따른 강우강도식의 확률강우와 관측치를 감안한 강도식을 인천지역의 강우강도식으로 제안하였다.

Derivation of Probable Rainfall Intensity Formulas at Inchon District (인천지방 확률강우강도식의 유도)

  • This paper is to derive the probable rainfall depths and the probable rainfall intensity formulas for Inchon Metropolitan district. The annual maximum rainfall data from 10 min. to 6 hours have been collected from the Inchon weather station. Eleven types of probability distribution are considered to estimate probable rainfall depths for 12 different storm durations at the Inchon Metropolitan district. Three tests including Chi-square, Kolmogorov-Smimov and Cramer Von Mises with the graphical analysis are adopted to select the best probability distribution. The probable rainfall intensity formulas are then determined by the least squares method using the trial and error approach. Five types of Talbot type, Sherman type, Japanese type, Unified type I, and Unified type II are considered to determine the best type for the Inchon rainfall intensity. The root mean squared errors are computed to compare the accuracy from the derived formulas. It has been suggested that the probable rainfall intensities having Unified type I for the short term duration should be the most reliable formulas by considering the root mean squared errors and the difference between computed probable rainfall depth and estimated probable rainfall depth.

  • The frequency analyses of annual maximum rainfall data for 22 rainfall gauging stations is Korea were performed. The method of moments (MOM), maximum likelihood (ML), and probability weighted moments (PWM) were used in parameter estimation. The GEV distribution was selected as an appropriate model for annual maximum rainfall data based on parameter validity condition, graphical analysis, separation effect, and goodness of fit tests. For the selected GEV model, spatial analysis was performed and rainfall intensity-duration-frequency equation was derived by using linearization technique. The derived rainfall intensity-duration-frequency equation can be used for estimating rainfall quantiles of the selected stations with convenience and reliability in practice.

An Analysis on Hydrologic Characteristics of Design Rainfall for the Design of Hydraulic Structure (수공구조물 설계를 위한 설계강우의 수문학적 특성 분석)

  • This study is to propose temporal pattern of design rainfall which causes maximum peak discharge and to analyze the variation in peak discharge according to design rainfall durations. In this study, the Mononobe, the Yen and Chow triangular, the Huff's 4th quartiles and the Keifer and Chu methods are applied to estimate the proper temporal pattern of design rainfall and three rainfall-runoff models such as SCS, Nakayasu, and Clark methods are used to estimate the runoff hydrograph. And to examine the variability of peak discharge, the hydrologic characteristics from the rainfall-runoff models to which uniform rainfall intensity is applied are used as the standard values. The type of temporal pattern of design rainfall which causes maximum peak discharge in both of the watersheds and the rainfall-runoff models has resulted in Yen and Chow distribution method with the dimensionless vague of 0.75. On the basis of determined temporal pattern, the examination of the variability of peak discharge according to design rainfall durations shows that design rainfall duration varies greatly with the types of probable intensity formula, and the variation of peak discharge is more affected by the types of probable intensity formula and I-D-F currie than rainfall-runoff models.

A Discretization Method Via a Radial-Exponential Scheme in the Cylindrical Coordinate (원통좌표계에서 반경지수도식에 의한 이산화방법)

  • In the cylindrical coordinate, the origin r = 0 plays a role of the singularity and thus much care is needed to treat near-origin region. This work presents a new numerical scheme which is derived from the exact solution under the one-dimensional assumption in the radial direction. It is shown that the near-origin region can be properly treated by the radial-exponential scheme, whereas the numerical results from the conventional exponential scheme deviate considerably from the exact solution. Over the region of small ($ {\delta}r_e/r_e$ the present radial-exponential scheme turns out to be almost the same as the exponential scheme.

Differences in Breeding Bird Communities between Coniferous Forests of Mt. Namsan and Gwangneung Areas (남산과 광릉의 침엽수림에서 번식기 조류 군집의 차이)

  • This study was conducted to clarify the differences in bird communities in breeding season between coniferous forests of Mt. Namsan and Gwangneung areas from April to August 2006. We chose a study site of 10ha in size for territory mapping of breeding bird community in each area. There were significant difference in DBH distribution of trees and average foliage profiles between both study areas. Number of breeding species and pairs, breeding density, and bird species diversity were higher in Gwangneung area than in Mt. Namsan area. Number of bird species and breeding pairs belonged to hole and canopy guild were different between both study areas. The difference in breeding bird communities between both study areas may be related with forest structure. For the protection and management of birds, greater structural complexity would be needed in Mt. Namsan area.
