The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics and continuity of 'One Book, One City' community reading campaign in the U.S.A. An analysis of 584 'One Book' projects registered in the Library of Congress, the Center for the Books shows that this innovative model of reading campaign has been diffused through three stages: the beginning(1998-2001), the growth (2002-2006), and the second take-off(2007-present). The stability of more than fifty 'One Book' projects was confirmed and the continuing diffusion of 'One Book' model through 'The Big Read' Initiative and some projects' attempt to try new directions seem worth observing.

This study was carried out to investigate effects of sowing dates and method on major agronomic characteristics of Dendropanax morbifera $L_{EV}$. in southern area of Korea. The number of days from sowing to emergence was recognized liner negative correlation between sowing days. Dendropanax morbifera was sowed at seven different dates(from Dec.20 to Feb.20 at 30 days interval, from Mar, 1 to Apr. 15 at 15 days interval) in pot culture. In sowing date at Mar. 15, germination rate and early growth were good in pot. Dendropanax morbifera was sowed at five different dates(from Dec.20 to Apr.15 at 15 days interval) in field culture. In sowing date at Apr.15, germination rate and early growth were good in field culture.

Recently, a project to build a carbon zero island with no carbon emissions has been carried out by replacing diesel generators with renewable energy sources in island areas where diesel generators supplied local loads as independent systems. To minimize damage to the lives of islanders, low noise wind generators should be installed by adjusting the rated speed. In islands with low loads, wind turbines that are more efficient than medium-sized wind turbines should be installed. In this study, the generator field analysis and characteristics were analyzed to develop 230 kW-class low wind medium-wind turbine technology. The electromagnetic field analysis program used Maxwell. As a result, the cogging torque was reduced, and the initial maneuver wind speed and loss value were lowered. Hence, the output amount was increased with high efficiency.

The purpose of this study is to find out about how are physical health, economical states and social relationships of women elderly living alone in an island. The measurement variables are subjective health status, satisfaction of life and a feeling of depression through Activities of Daily Life, social supports, social network and social relationship. First, the ADLs of the aged women living alone in the island are that can't do themselves 23.4%, and need to other's help on their walking 23.4%, bathing 6.5%, and going out 10.3%. Second, them answered that is very shortage or shortage with living expenses 46.8%. Average income in a month is under 200thousands won are account for 32% in a rural and 32.4% in an urban but the aged women living alone in an island are account for 35.1%. comparing with that they are living under the absolute poor with a small income less than 300thousands won. Third, social relationships of the aged women living alone in the island are living with an offspring in a same region 50.6%, a neighboring village 11.7%, and living with a relation in same region. At this study differs from other studies are about studying to be compared aged people between rural and urban area. This study is researched comprehensively about more fragility people.

To clarify the ants fauna in 10 islands, Chollanam-do, field survery was carried out from 1986 to 1991. As a result, 740 colonies were collected in 31 survey areas. These colonies were composed on 54 species belonging to the 30 genera of 4 subfamilies. Kyidris mutica Brown and Epitritus hexamerus Brown collected in Taehuksan Is. and Soan Is. respectively were recorded for the first time from Korea. The cluster analysis of faunal similarity using Nomura-Simpson's Coefficient(NSC) showed that the ant communities between the island were continuous in similarities.

This study surveyed and analyzed school library festival that is being carried out in elementary schools of Seoul region. In doing so, it carried out questionnaire and interview survey targeting people in charge of library and students who are participating in the school library festival. The findings can be summarized with such components as follows. Major characteristics of the programs of the school library festival, the impact of Decimal Classification on the festival, change of participants' interest in book, the satisfaction of library staff and students are included. Based on the findings, major suggestions were made on activation of the school library festival.

DGPS의 안정적인 운영 및 제공을 위해서는 중파대역 송출 전파의 안정성을 확보하여야 한다. 특히 대지 전도율의 변화에 따른 반사파의 변동은 안정적인 측위정보 제공 및 DGPS 기준국 운영에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 본 논문은 반사파의 변동에 영향을 미치는 환경 변화 요인을 분석하고자 기준국 반사파의 변동과 기상인자의 상관성을 분석하였다. 도서 지역 DGPS 기준국의 반사파 변동과 기상인자와의 상관성을 분석하고자 시계열분석, 산포도 분석, 상관계수 산정 등의 방법을 이용하였다. 분석 결과 반사파 변동과 풍속, 습도는 양의 상관관계를 나타내었으며 기압과는 음의 상관관계가 나타났다. 이는 풍속과 습도가 높을수록 반사파가 크게 발생하며, 기압이 낮을수록 반사파가 낮게 나타나는 것을 의미한다. 송신 전파 특성상 기상의 변화가 반사파 변동에 직접적인 영향을 주지는 않으나 반사파가 생성되는 환경 요인에 영향을 끼치는 것으로 사료된다.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate vulnerability of drought in small island areas. Vulnerability assessment factors of drought were selected by applying the factor analysis. Ninety Eup/Myon areas in small island were evaluated to vulnerability of drought by entropy method adapting objective weights. Vulnerability consisted of climate exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. A total of 22 indicators were used to evaluate and analyze vulnerability of drought in small island areas. The results of entropy method showed that winter rainfall, no rainfall days, agricultural population rate, cultivation area rate, water supply rate and groundwater capacity have a significant impact on drought assessment. The overall assessment of vulnerability indicated that Seodo-myeon Ganghwa-gun, Seolcheon-myeon Namhae-gun and Samsan-myeon Ganghwa-gun were the most vulnerable to drought. Especially Ganghwa-gun should be considered policy priority to establish drought measures in the future, because it has a high vulnerability of drought.

Bongsu(Beacon Fire Station) is a facility that sends signals with fire and smoke and has been used in Korea since the Three Kingdoms period. This facility was installed to know the north and south crises. This trend continues until the Joseon Dynasty, and it has been somewhat completed in the 17th century. In previous studies, beacon fire was identified mainly from the border area to Hanyang. Based on this, it was classified into Gyeongbongsu, Yeonbyeonbongsu, and Naejibongsu. However, it is difficult to define the characteristics of beacon fire in coastal areas only with this classification. In the case of beacon fire in island areas, there was a tendency to value communication connection within the region rather than connection with the capital. As a case analysis for this, an academic review was conducted with the cases of Ganghwa Island and Jeju Island. As a result, it was confirmed that the role and character of the beacon vary depending on the defense system and the physical distance from the land, even if it has the topographical commonality of the same island.

This study aims to quantitatively assess collection and circulation data of one small library in an area where multicultural users are concentrated and draw policy implications on improving multicultural services for public libraries. The Ansan Multicultural Small Library was selected for examining the library's collection and circulation usages from 2016 to 2022. The numbers of collection and circulation, collection turnover rates and use factors were calculated by year, language, and KDC subject. The result of this study presents the empirical evidence drawn from users' circulation usage, which can be a basis for leading to valid collection development and multicultural service policies.
