  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the health information use experience of middle-aged people in their 40s and 50s and to observe and analyze their health information search behaviors according to health consciousness and health information orientation. This study uses Information Foraging Theory with the concept of information scents which leads users to detect and collect cues in information searching. Types and contents of information cues that middle-aged people use when searching for health information were investigated. Also, how their health consciousness and health information orientation affected using information cues were analyzed. Three methods of research were used; (1) pre-interviews, (2) search experiments, and (3) post-interviews. Thirty-two middle-aged people participated in the study. Their performance on health information searching was recorded and referred to in the post-interviews using a think-aloud protocol. Findings presented that middle-aged people's health consciousness and health information orientation affected the perception of information scents in health information search; those with high health consciousness and health information orientation consider the text made by the government office the most critical information cues. We believe findings from this study could be used for public libraries or non-profit institutions to understand middle-aged people's health information behaviors to design education programs for information retrieval considering users' health consciousness and health information orientation. Findings could also contribute to Internet portal site or health-related web site designers developing strategies for middle-aged users to access health information effectively.

  • This paper is to grasp the current trends of national bibliographies through analyzing representative national bibliographies using literature review, analysis of national bibliographies' web pages and survey. First, in order to conform to the definition of a national bibliography as a record of a national publication, it attempts to include a variety of materials from print to electronic resources, but in reality it cannot contain all the materials, so there are exceptions. It is impossible to create a general selection guide for national bibliography coverage, and a plan that reflects the national characteristics and prepares a valid and comprehensive coverage based on analysis is needed. Second, cooperation with publishers and libraries is being made to efficiently generate national bibliography. For the efficiency of national bibliography generation, changes should be sought such as the standardization and consistency, the collection level metadata description for digital resources, and the creation of national bibliography using linked data. Third, national bibliography is published through the national bibliographic online search system, linked data search, MARC download using PDF, OAI-PMH, SRU, Z39.50, and mass download in RDF/XML format, and is integrated with the online public access catalog or also built separately. Above all, national bibliographies and online public access catalogs need to be built in a way of data reuse through an integrated library system. Fourth, as a differentiated function for national bibliography, various services such as user tagging and national bibliographic statistics are provided along with various browsing functions. In addition, services of analysis of national bibliographic big data, links to electronic publications, and mass download of linked data should be provided, and it is necessary to identify users' needs and provide open services that reflect them in order to develop differentiated services. Through the current trends and considerations of the national bibliographies analyzed in this study, it will be possible to explore changes in national and international national bibliography.

  • Successful reading instruction of teacher librarian should be to identify the reading characteristics of students. Nevertheless, there are insufficient tools for to identify the reading characteristics. Thus, this study propose the reading flow type classification and test instruments reading flow using structure equation modeling. In order to verify the reading flow type, this study established 4 temporary model(Warner, Dunn & Dunn, MBTI, flow construction), conformed using AMOS structure equation modeling. The most fit model of 4 temporary model were conformed flow construction. Test instruments for reading flow was developed based on conformed flow construction. Suggested reading flow type classification consist of 16 styles in four dimensions. Reading flow test instruments consist of 28 item styles in four dimensions. The data for this study re-used 1,836 students questionary for prior paper of this researcher.

  • In this study, we analyzed KERIS Document Delivery Service (DDS) using its transaction data for the period of nine years from 2004 to 2012. We first examined the overall statistics focusing on member contributions, and conducted a network analysis based on the records of request/response (supply) between member libraries. Key findings include the following: First, in over 80% of member libraries, the number of outgoing requests exceeded the number of their responses to incoming requests. That is, for the vast majority of member libraries, their participation was concentrated on the request side. Second, KERIS DDS relies heavily on a relatively small number of top contributors, especially on the supply side. While the top contributors were active in both requests and responses (supplies), in most cases, they received and processed a disproportionally large number of requests. Third, the network analysis based on DDS requests for journal articles in 2012 further revealed the central role of top contributors. The level and pattern of concentration, however, appeared to differ by subjects (DDC). Three main patterns of centralization were found in different subjects - a network centered on a single member, a network having multiple centers, or a distributed network.
