This study is an attempt to explore the professional image of librarianship through librarians' subjectivity using Q-methodology based on intraindividual difference in significance. The study identified four types of the professional image of librarianship and discussed their relationship; the ambivalent, the prideful, the advanced, and the critical. Each types are unique, not inter-exclusive characteristics reflected the context of the present. Also, all types have a positive image toward the librarianship.

Barcode is widely being used in many places such as supermarket, cafeteria, library, etc. ISBN, Code 128, Code 39 are mainly used in barcode. Among them, Code 128 which is based on ASCII Code can transfer control letters that range from ASCII Code 0 to ASCII 32. Control letters intrinsically imply letters that are used to deliver information to peripheral devices such as a printer or communication joint, however, they play quite different roles if they are inputted on Windows. Generally, barcode devices doesn't verify input data, thus it enables people to tag any barcode that has specific control letters and execute the commands. Besides, most barcode recognition programs are using a database and they have more security weakness compared to other programs. On the basis of those reasons, I give an opinion that SQL Injection can attack barcode recognition programs through this study.

As the information age matures, the learning style of youth is changing rapidly. Students study at a variety of places such as cafe or lobbies utilizing various digital learning devices. Along with the place changes, learning methods are also changing. Student-centered learning methods such as smart learning, collaborative learning, and activity-based learning are increasingly being utilized instead of the traditional instructor-centered learning in which knowledge is unilaterally delivered. Accordingly, many universities are remodeling central libraries, and they are also transforming lobby spaces of the college buildings into simple but useful learning spaces. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of learning spaces in universities from the standpoint of the students. According to the analysis, overall satisfaction is high in terms of comfortable physical learning environments such as Wi-Fi, furniture, lighting, etc. But the spaces are still optimized for individual and intensive learning. There seems to be a lack of effort to support collaborative learning or activity-based learning. This observation is confirmed by the characteristics of the central library, and it is considered that the reason why the college buildings are preferred by students is that college buildings are more suitable for collaborative or activity-based learning than libraries.

People collectively understand and often use information and knowledge as terms in a variety of contexts without concern nor discussion of their many competing conceptual and theoretical definitions. The concepts of information and knowledge are intrinsically linked and suffer some of the same problems when scholars try to define them, especially when truth is a prerequisite. This theory paper presents a simple thought experiment that relates the reliabilist and truth-tracking analyses of knowledge with the physical and cognitive paradigms of information, respectively. The results of the thought experiment are discussed within the context of the Post-Truth era, with implications and applications for information literacy.

The records and archives center provide a variety of archival information services in an effort to get closer to the public. However, there are still some problems with regard to the lack of awareness of records and archives. In order to activate the use of archives, it is necessary to understand the users of archives. Given the problems, this study aims to investigate the awareness of records and archives in university students who are potential users of archives as well as to suggest methods to activate the use of records and archives reflecting the characteristics of university students' awareness. As such, this study surveyed 182 university students at J university. The questionnaire items referred to Market & Opinion Research International (MORI) (2003) as a part of the projects conducted by the Museums Libraries Archives Council (MLA) and Cho's study (2008). The questionnaire items consisted of four major areas: awareness of records and archives, experience with records and archives or reasons of not using them, requirements for the use of archives by potential users, and efficient method of promoting archives. As a result of the survey, most of the university students are indifferent to records. However, they recognized that it is highly important to manage records that are related to historical values and archives that are relevant to information values. In addition, they showed a positive intention to use the archives in the future; thus, it is highly likely for them to be converted into active users through appropriate services. Based on the results, this study proposed important considerations for activating the use of the archives to university students, and suggested methods to activate the archives in terms of user education, program development, and user segmentation.

This study investigates the credibility judgements of information by tweens using digital media and information. Particularly, the study focused on tweens' perception of internet research and information use and on their credibility judgement of source and message, internet service providers, and on consulting with others for their credibility judgement. The survey methodology was used to collect data from grade 5 and 6 students in two elementary schools whose parents are likely in middle and upper class. 336 valid questionnaires were collected among 400. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and t-test were used to analyze the data collected using SPSS 25. Findings suggested that tweens understood the importance of using smart media and computers, that they used Youtube, Naver, Kakao talk, Naver JisikIN much in sequence, and that they believed the Internet research was easy and fun. Using exploratory factor analysis, the survey questions for credibility judgement were classified into three factors: Internet service providers, sources and information, and consulting with others. Tweens used sources and information credibility, consulting with others credibility, Internet service providers credibility in sequence. However, it was interesting to find that there were greater deviation in answers on knowing how to find out the cognitive authority of the authors and on the importance of using current information. This study suggests the critical need for tweens' credibility judgement research for promoting critical thinking skills as well as for proactive educational practices in schools and libraries on information literacy.

This research aims at understanding the differences between expert and general users' perceptions regarding publication preferences for Korean classics collations and translations in order to formulate future directions for these materials. For this purpose, an overview of changes in publishing in general as well as current status of collation/translation of Korean classics in particular are being identified. An online questionnaire was carried out in order to collect data regarding perceptions and preferences of expert users and general users of Korean classics. The results are based on the analyses of more than 1,000 responses. The analyses show that electronic books will not completely replace printed books and publishing both electronic and printed books in tandem for the time being is most preferable in order to satisfy varying user needs. Statistical analysis shows differences in terms of use value, value from possession, and readability of electronic and printed books in the two groups of users. However, as for the value of preservation by relevant institutions, there was a statistical difference between two groups towards printed books unlike their electronic equivalents. The research shows strong preference towards printed forms of classics collations and translations for the purpose of scholarly research and translation. Actual usage statistics reveal much heavy use of online database of classics translations compared to the use of available electronic books. For future publishing decisions for classics collations and translations will need to take into consideration of their special characteristics and symbolic nature. Proper representation of these materials into electronic format would require a standardized platform that enable various uses in different environments.

This study compares the members of children's reading and culture movement organization versus general public and their children with the aim of understanding how parents' reading activities affect children's reading activities. The study surveyed 477 elementary school students and 483 parents from five special metropolitan cities regarding their reading behaviour. Reading behavior was investigated in terms of reading frequency, book selection information source, reading awareness, and preferred books, and it was confirmed that there was a difference between members of children's reading and culture movement organization and children of the general public. Members of children's reading and culture movement organization and their children showed superior reading habits in terms of both quantity and quality than non-members and their children, and the book selection information service was used. In terms of perception regarding reading, children's reading and culture movement organization members and their children found more "joy" in reading than "help in learning" as compared to the general public and their children. In terms of reading preference, children's reading and culture movement organization members and their children intensively preferred Korean creative fairy tales and picture books while the general public and their children preferred Korean creative fairy tales, picture books, and educational comics. In order to create a healthier reading culture and environment for the long term, the development of more active reading participation methods for the general public is required.

This study was conducted with the aim of identifying the current status of the national authority data construction project centered on the National Library of Korea for the effective construction and utilization of national knowledge information resources. It also aimed to reveal the possibility and improvement of the national information system with the international standard identification system, and suggesting future development plans. To this end, this study conducted interviews and questionnaires with members of the Korean National Authority Data Sharing System(KNASS). The survey consisted of items related to the current status and difficulties related to the authority, the use of the KNASS, the recognition and utilization of identifiers, the awareness and utilization of the linkage with ISNI, the Importance-Performance Analysis for activating the KNASS, and the overall satisfaction and improvement direction. As a result of the analysis, it was proposed to develop rules and guidelines related to the authority works, to increase the quantity and quality of authority data, to raise understanding of the importance and establish a efficient work system, to diversify the authority service and develop a utilization model, to link the KNASS with international identifiers, and to share the necessity of the KNASS.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of academic journals and scholarly events published and operated by the four major academic societies in library and information science (Korean Library and Information Science Society, Korean Society for Library and Information Science, Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science, and Korea Society for Information Management). An online survey was carried out to know the members' perceptions of journals' quality, number, review process, publication/distribution, readership, practicality, interdisciplinarity, internationalization, and differentiation. In addition, the reasons for participation and non-participation in scholarly events, the degree of achievement of the purpose, differentiation between scholarly events, and ways to revitalize joint academic conferences were examined. A total of 197 members of the four societies completed the survey. The findings showed that the overall quality of the four journals was good, but they still needed to be improved in the review process, publication and distribution, readership, practicality, and internationalization. Strategies to specialize each journal needed to be considered as well. To revitalize scholarly events, large-scale joint academic conferences can be organized to encourage the participation of researchers and practitioners, considering both academic and social aspects of research and practice. This study mainly reported the results of the online survey. Also, it shed light on the suggestions to improve the academic journals and scholarly events in the field of library and information science based on the findings from the case studies of international academic journals and events as well as the group discussions and feedback from the participants at the joint conferenece held in December 2022.
