The first part of this paper clarified the importance of teacher's role in activating the school library. In the second pan, the major of this paper, the state of the art of school libraries and the perception of teachers managing school libraries without librarian certificate were investigated by questionnaire. The questionnaire to middle school and high school was planed to survey the functions, the management problems, and the improvement of school library. The followings were analyzed in more detail ; the characteristics of school library teacher, the actual condition of the library, the recognition on school library of teachers and principals, the promotion plans fer library use, and the solution for management problems.

This study aims at exploring the Eco-generation's perception on public libraries depending on the use of cultural programs. For this purpose, a series of in-depth interviews was conducted with public library users in the Eco-generation in order to investigated the current status of the cultural programs in public libraries and their underlying identity. The results identifies that user experience of library cultural programs did not make a meaningful difference in users' perceptions on public libraries. Furthermore, there was no meaningful difference in the perceptions on cultural programs between public libraries and other cultural organizations. A possible explaining factor to the results based on the interviews and existing research reports was identified as the lack of identity in the library cultural programs. Consequently, further studies on public libraries' identity, cooperation between research and practice in public libraries, discussion with cultural organizations in the library district, and considerations in public policy are suggested in order to strengthen the identity in the library cultural programs.

This study is targeting Special Library users and aims to find out whether participation in the cultural events of K Special Library affects the levels of satisfaction and recognition of library users. With consideration for the actual operating case, the cultural events of K Special Library were categorized into reading activities, reading promotion events, exhibition events, lecture events, and others. The influential relationship between these cultural events, the level of satisfaction, intention of reuse, and level of recognition of the K Special Library service were analyzed. As a result of this study, participation in cultural events was found to affect the level of use, level of satisfaction on services, intention to reuse and recommend, and level of recognition of K Special Library users. However, regarding the level of satisfaction on the collection of books, there was no significant difference arising from participation in cultural events. As such, it is concluded that participation in cultural events does not affect the level of satisfaction on the collection of the books.

In this study, a survey was conducted targeting specialized librarians, and the impact on the work area according to changes in the internal and external environment and policy support measures was analyzed. In this study, we tried to derive factors that affect library development and policy suggestions accordingly. As a result of the study, first, it was confirmed that 58.3% of the negative opinions in terms of the importance of library development plans were positive in recognition of the role of library status within individual institutions. Second, in order to increase the status of specialized libraries, it was found that awareness of academic research activities was necessary by recognizing the importance of major functions and roles. Third, among the comprehensive library development plans, the recognition of specialized libraries and operational evaluation was the highest in recognition of the expansion of national public information services to the public. In addition, it was confirmed that among the five-year development strategies, the policy that should be implemented first is the preference for updating the status of specialized libraries and establishing a system for investigation. Fourth, as a result of analyzing effective alternatives and improvement indicators to increase the participation rate in library operation evaluation, the weighting of the "institutional library operation evaluation" item in the evaluation item of public enterprises was the highest at 4.01 on average. Therefore, for the development of specialized libraries, it was recognized as the most urgent task to establish a system that can comprehensively grasp the current status of specialized libraries as well as active academic research and support them.

A school library is where students develop their skills to cope with future uncertainty and can utilize various information materials to build their capability and response abilities to changes. Teachers' perception is crucial as their guidance is essential for the student to use the school library. Most studies, however, focused on quantitative measurement of the importance of the teachers' perception as an external environment, and there is a lack of specific categorization of different types of perceptions on the role of the school library. This study aims to examine types of perceptions about the school library among elementary school teachers. To do so, this study used Latent Profile Analysis (LPA), a person-centered approach, to identify teachers' complex perceptions about the role and importance of the school library, which were difficult to review in previous studies, and the teachers' most representative types of perceptions. Based on the findings from the above, this study is meaningful in proposing customized measures to operate and promote the school library depending on teachers' perceptions.

This study explored the concept of context-aware computing and its application to the library and information services. Context-aware computing represents mobile computing techniques which gather, analyze user's contextual information and provide appropriate information services for the specific user. The idea was proposed in the late 90's but it was not widely available to the public because of the technology limitation. Recent technology development made context-aware computing possible to apply to our everyday-life information seeking using smart phone and showed the usefulness of its application. This study introduced the concept of context-aware computing with some examples of it, and finally tried to propose some of its applications to the library and information services.

The purpose of this study is to practice the library tour program for pre-librarians, to analyze the impact of the library tour program for pre-librarians on librarian job's perception, and to present the educational meaning of library tour program for pre-librarians to the library & information science academies, the librarians in charge of the library tour, and pre-librarians. For doing this, the 29 pre-librarians participated in a library tour are surveyed by the questionnaires before and after library tour program. As a result, it's revealed that the library tour program for pre-librarians is proved to be the educational effects that it establishes the per-librarians' attitudes for librarian job performance. It's meaningful that this study presents the education effects of library tour program to the librarians in charge of library tour program and the pre-librarians.

This research has investigated the cyber university students' awareness of the portal service of the digital library. In order to identify characteristics of the cyber university students, the research examined demographic characteristics of the students and library usage status. Awareness on the portal service was also analyzed in accordance with the characteristics of the users. The analysis showed that the most needed service was concise/full search service, which was the most frequently used service. The students were most satisfied with the liaison service; service awareness of several libraries showed statistically significant results depending on age, occupation. Based on the analysis, the research proposed the following measures to increase the use of the digital library of cyber university students: active PR on library service, and intensifying the library user education.

This study, as primary research that examines the communication characteristics of the library and the perception of librarians in order to make public libraries a communication space, surveyed the perception of librarians in public libraries and made an attempt to devise activation measures for the communication spaces of the library. As a result, the communication characteristics of the library were derived to be locality, community spirit, and interactivity. In addition, the perception survey found that librarians have positive remarks about the communication spaces of the library. As it shows a high degree of awareness, the library should focus on ways to revitalize communication. First, the direction of communication must be set in order to fulfill library's new role in communication and exchange. Second, it is desirable for the library to free itself from being a quiet space and recreate it as a space for communication. Third, the library needs to exchange and connect with organizations, groups, and gatherings of the community. Fourth, it seems necessary for the library to provide support for the users' independent and voluntary communication and operation of the community.

The study strives to shed a light on the users' perception and demand on public libraries in Busan area through a survey asking the facility, materials and service conditions in public libraries. Data are drawn from a survey with three hundred respondents. The survey was implemented to figure out current status and needs regarding library facility, materials, and cultural programs. Supporting data are collected via interview as well. Since this paper discusses such an issue as current situation in public libraries, this study could provide the policy makers with basic information in developing and improving public library programs in Busan area.
