This study aims to provide some rosie material for the libraries to improve its role for supporting the virtual university by recognizing the changing roles to have to support the distance education which is becoming a growing area in the coming new century due to the necessity of continuing renewal and the retaining of the information related workers. Through the study, a few conclusions were derived. (1) To support the virtual university, the library services should be directed toward the operation of the full access - philosophy and should reflect the information needs of the off-campus students. The librarians should be equipped with the ability to make use of networked resources and to provide the document delivery services together with the ability to develop the web-based user training programs. The department of library and Information Science should educate the future librarian for the purpose of supporting the virtual university. (2) A written and agreed guidelines should be established to specify the philosophy, management, facilities, resources and services to support the virtual university. And it is desirable that in the near future the department and a librarian responsible for the supporting the distance education should be established.

The age and physical condition of users who use public libraries are becoming diverse in recent years. The need for universal design is recognized as important to create a public library with a convenient and pleasant environment in consideration of various users. The purpose of this research is to propose the universal design application method after analyzing level of application of common spaces in public libraries. First, the environment related to 'Perceptable Information' with low level of universal design should be improved first. Second, it is important to apply it from the initial planning phase to create a more advanced universal design environment. Third, careful consideration and awareness of all users of the library should precede to engance 'Flexibility in Use' related environment.

These days the number of copyright issues concerning libraries is increasing. The reason is a library is the place that collects and uses copyrighted materials. The copyright issues that libraries face will be more radical, because of the growing number of digital media especially appearance of a digital library. To make the current situation better, this study suggests the standard of copyright compliance policy for university libraries in order to serve within the range of copyright law. Copyright compliance policy is a reasonable guideline meeting user's intellectual needs and protecting a copyright holder's right.

문헌정보학 전공자에게 있어 취업의 꽃은 대학도서관 사서로의 진출이 아닐까 싶다. 왜냐하면 대학 도서관은 다른 관종의 도서관에 비해 외형적으로 규모가 크고, 업무는 다양할 뿐만 아니라 영역별로 전문화되어 있어 다양한 경험을 쌓을 수 있는 장점이 있다. 게다가 근무시간이나 급여, 복지 등과 같은 근무조건 및 환경 역시 타 관종에 비하여 비교적 우위에 있다고 하겠다. 때문에 전공자들 사이에는 기회가 된다면 누구나 대학도서관 사서로의 꿈을 꾸는 것이다. 하지만 최근 대학을 둘러싼 내외적인 상황이 그리 만만하지가 않다. 대학 외적으로는 대학 간 무한경쟁 체제의 확산 및 심화, 입학자원의 절대적 감소, 정부 및 각종 기관의 지원시 엄격한 평가 적용 등의 영향과 내적으로는 대학내 도서관 위상의 점진적 약화, 사서적인 수의 감소, 사서직에 대한 전통적 인식 약화로 인한 입지 위협 등으로 인하여 대하교직원 채용에 있어 도서관 사서는 대개 후순위이거나 고려대상에서 점점 더 멀어지고 있는 실정이다. 또한 최근에는 긍적적 측면과 부정적 측면이 상존하는 사서직원의 본부부서 이동 역시 늘어나고 있다고 하겠다. 한편 1987년 사서자격증 발급자가 2,000여명을 돌파한 이래 최근에는 매년 2,400여명 내외의 자격증 소지자를 배출하고 있는데, 본 글은 이 정도의 공급에 미루어 볼 때 전체 관종 대비 대학도서관 사서의 모집현황은 어느 정도인지? <사서e마을> 정규직, 비정규직 코너에 2007~2010년간 게재된 모집 공고 중심으로 월별, 지역별, 대학 설립주체별 현황 분석 및 전망을 해보고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the images of libraries and librarians in Korean children's literature. For this purpose, fourteen children's fictions that the main background is library are analyzed. Library's role appeared in the children's fictions is focused on reading books. In the children's fictions, librarians are usually women and described as friendly and active people. And their role is shown as strongly committed to children's reading activities. Library services and activities for information literacy education and cultural development of children is hardly reflected in the fictions. It implicates that the libraries and librarians in children's literature is very reflective of those in the real world.

Cultural programs in public libraries are on the rise in Korea. In this regard, this study attempts to investigate the current situation and limitations of cultural programs in public libraries in Busan metro area. This paper also suggests future strategies in order to improve the quality of such programs and to cope with changes of user demands and future trends. Data were collected from 29 public libraries in Busan Metro area. Supplementary data were also collected through qualitative interviews and brain-storming discussions with public librarians who are in charge of cultural programs in public libraries. Cases from other countries were also analyzed in terms that they might be adopted for cultural programs in public libraries in Korea.

The purpose of this paper based on the preliminary research is to dove)or the standard job models for children's service of public and children libraries in Korea. To do so, the author surveyed and analysed the perception of library staff of current jobs for children's service using the online questionnaire. And author proposed the standard models(importance difficulty, professionalism, and performance requirements) of library jobs for strengthening children's services. In addition, the this study suggested a plans to enhance professionalism of children's librarian and to introduce its qualification system.

Today academic libraries have to show that they are using given resources for right purpose and in the best way. In order to reach this goal, academic libraries should develop the effective evaluation model. And carefully selected and used, performance measures or evaluation indicators are the most important tool the Library has to ensure goals and objectives are being accomplished. The purpose of this study is to understand a theoretical foundation for evaluation indicators of academic libraries, that is, its diverse(various) meanings and directivity.

The aim of this study is to examine the influence of foreign library classification schemes on the Chinese classification systems in the library. And the study is to analyze development process of three modem library classification schemes, the $\ulcorner$Renmin University of China's Library Books Classifications$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$Chinese Academy of Sciences's Library Books Classifications$\lrcorner$and $\ulcorner$Chinese Library Classification$\lrcorner$which are being used in many libraries in China where the library is regarded an important organization for performing the national policies.

인터넷의 발달과 정보화 기술의 발전에 따라 기하급수적으로 증가하고 있는 멀티미디어 정보, 원문자료, 웹 정보, 전자저널 등 디지털 화된 정보를 종합적으로 관리하면서 네트워크를 통해 사용자들에게 정보를 제공하는 전자도서관 서비스에 대한 요구가 급증하고 있으며, 이런 요구로 인하여 디지털 컨텐츠를 가지고 있는 도서관에서는 컨텐츠의 효율적인 관리 방안에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 그러나 인터넷 정보 서비스의 대부분이 라이센스 협정에 의한 정보 이용형태의 수준을 탈피하지 못하고 있어, 이용자에게 제공되는 정보 서비스를 단순한 링크 형태로 제공하는 것이 현재 전자도서관의 형태이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 인식하여 전자도서관을 통해 서비스되고 있는 인터넷 정보 서비스를 자관 환경에 맞게 재구성하고, 로컬 전자도서관 시스템과 연동할 수 있도록 상용 인터넷 정보 서비스 제어 및 이를 위한 제어 시스템에 대한 방안을 제시하였다.
