  • 최근 도서관에서는 실업률 증가와 지역사회 정신보건 문제 등 총체적인 사회적 현상과 맞물려서 도서관 서비스에 불만을 품거나 이상행동을 하는 이용자들이 도서관으로 유입되면서 많은 문제행동을 일으키고 있다. 일부 이용자의 문제행동은 다른 이용자의 이용만족에 있어서 가장 중요한 역할을 하는 도서관직원에게 부정적 영향을 미치고, 이는 결국 서비스의 불만족과 이로 인한 도서관 조직에 악영향을 끼치며 전반적인 도서관 서비스의 질적 저하를 유발하는 중요한 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 본 연구는 도서관서비스에 대한 이용자 만족도를 제고하고, 친절하고 품위 있는 공공서비스 문화의 선진화를 촉진하기 위여 국가 및 공공도서관 직원을 대상으로 도서관 응대서비스 문제점 및 문제이용자 현황과 응대서비스 매뉴얼 개발에 관련된 요구사항을 분석하여 일반이용자 및 문제이용자 응대서비스 매뉴얼을 개발하였다.

  • Recently. Web-based library instruction is incomplete in domestic situation. The purpose of this study is to present the design criteria of web-based library instruction programs. This study draws elements of synthetic criteria that are analyzed by evaluation criteria of web site and web-based library instruction, and compares and analyzes web-based library instruction programs.

Investigating Change of Users' Perception of Privacy Pre- and Post-Education on Library User Privacy (도서관이용자프라이버시에 대한 교육전후의 이용자인식변화 분석 연구)

  • Library users must provide their personal information to libraries. This study surveyed these library users' perception of privacy and the effect of the education after providing library user privacy education. As a result, first, it was found that after education, users were more interested in their privacy, rated the problem of library user privacy as more severe, and rated library user data collection as more likely to be considered privacy invasion. Second, we investigated users' perception of how much user service records being collected in libraries violate users' privacy, which showed a great perception change in 25 questions after the education. Third, in the survey about library and librarians' efforts for protecting library user privacy, it was found that all 15 questions were rated as significantly more important after education. Fourth, library users have recognized that is necessary to process and handle the library record and are more sympathetic to the need for this procedure. Fifth, library users felt the possibility of a library record leak was a very serious threat.

  • Recently libraries are experiencing an increasing number of difficult patrons because of the increase in the unemployment rate and the problem of mental health in their communities. The problem behaviours of difficult patrons have negative influence to other users and staff in the library. This seems closely associated with the decline in the quality of library services. Therefore, in this study, we developed a how-to-do-it manual for library staff to meet the aforementioned challenges and to enhance the overall quality of library services for both general users and difficult patrons.

A Study on Faceted Navigation of the Public Libraries (공공도서관의 패싯 내비게이션에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to construct faceted navigation useful for domestic users through analyzing English and North American public libraries' faceted navigations. The 19 domestic libraries and the 12 foreign libraries has been chosen for analyzing their unique facets. Although the domestic libraries' facets had no differences to the domestic universities' facets, the North American libraries have their unique facets. Those facets are target audience, genre, library list, user tags, and availability related facets and the facets are mainly to improve user's usability in using library catalog. Adopting the facets in domestic public libraries by using Fixed-Length data elements of KORMARC, domestic public libraries will enhance usability of library users in retrieving library materials.

Measurement and Analysis of the Library Anxiety among Academic Library Users (대학도서관 이용자의 도서관불안 측정과 분석)

  • To investigate the present states and analyze the library anxiety among academic library users, A University library users sampled systematically and surveyed. Data collected from 707 students are analyzed and compared with the previous studies. The average LAS score is 2.55 and show differences in sex, grade levels, and major areas of study. Library use instruction reduces anxiety subscale of barriers with staff. Library anxiety is also differed according to the frequency of library visit. Especially, the anxiety subscale of affective barriers is decreased according to the grade level and frequency of library visit. Based on the results, recommendations are suggested to overcome the library anxiety.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 이용자의 만족도와 이용자특성에 따른 영향을 알아봄으로써, 대학도서관 이용자 서비스 제공 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구대상은 경기도에 소재한 K대학도서관 서비스를 이용하는 학부생 40명, 대학원생 40명, 교직원 20명, 총 100명을 대상자로 하였다. 연구방법은 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 이용자들의 인식에 관한 문항 설문지로 하였다. 이용자 특성에 따라 도출한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 학부생의 만족도는 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 2. 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 대학원생, 교직원의 만족도는 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이용자가 선호하는 서비스 방법은 도서관 홈페이지를 통해 제공받는 방식을 선호하였다. 따라서 본 연구를 종합해보면 향후에는 본 연구를 바탕으로 주제전문서비스를 처음 시행하는 대학도서관이 주제전문서비스를 시행할 때 목표달성에 기여하고, 서비스를 효과적으로 수행하기 위해 좋은 귀감이 될 것이라 판단된다.

Redesign of OPAC based on College Students' Information Needs: The Case of P University Library (이용자 요구 기반의 도서관목록 구현에 관한 연구 - P대학도서관을 사례로 하여 -)

  • This research looked into both meaning and value of library catalog through the information behavior of user and suggested a plan to improve the quality and search functions, which are reflected the users' information needs and search behavior. U-CAT, a experimentally developed with reinforcing the contents and search functions of current library catalogs, was tested with the degree of satisfaction by the sample user group. The test results showed that the user's satisfaction on U-CAT was very high. The result verified that a little change with current library catalogs (to upgrade its quality) could result in a higher satisfaction of user group.

The Study on the Measuring the Economic Use Value of the National Assembly Library Services (국회도서관 서비스의 경제적 이용가치 측정에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the economic value of the National Assembly Library service utility, and to enhance the users' perception and the stakeholder's supports for the library services. For those purposes, this study applied the measurement methods of time value, replacement service value, and WTP of the three user groups: inside members, outside users, and institutional members of the Library. The replacement service value as annual time valuation was measured 1,948.2 million won by inside members, and 417.057.5 million won by outside users, that was approximately 10 times of the total budget of the year 2015. Also, WTP were measured as 8,528.3 million won by inside member, 33,272.4 million won by outside users, 924 million won by institutional members. This shows 77% of the use value were from outside users. The BC ratio was 1:1.04 in 2015.
