A Study of The Extraction of Road Horizontal Alignment Design Elements in Urban Areas using the Digital Map (수치지도의 도로 중심선을 이용한 토로의 평면선형 설계요소 자동추출에 관한 연구)

  • 미래의 텔레매틱스(telematics)환경에서 차량항법과 관련된 주요 핵심 기술은 동적 경로 안내 이외에 차량 자체의 지능화를 통해 운전자에게 주행 중인 도로에서 급경사, 급커브 구간에 대한 정보를 사전에 경고함으로써 사고를 방지하는 운전자 보조 및 경고 시스템(driver assistance and warning system) 구현으로 전망되고 있다. 이와 같은 기술이 구현되기 위해서는 현재 차량항법용 수치도로지도에서 도로의 단순 위치정보만으로는 불가능하며 도로의 곡선구간에서 평면 곡선반경과 같은 도로의 선형설계요소에 대한 정보가 필수적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현재 전국적으로 구축되어있는 1/1000 수치지도의 도로중심선을 이용하여 실제 도로의 평면 선형설계요소를 자동으로 추출하기 위한 알고리즘을 개발하였고 이를 GUI 환경의 프로그램으로 구현함으로써 기존 도로의 정확한 평면 선형정보를 경제적이면서 효율적으로 획득할 수 있게 되었다.

  • The most important factor in highway design is to match highway alignment with topography so that the driver can drive the vehicle safely and comfortably. Highway alignment design is completed with combination of horizontal alignment and vertical alignment that is harmony with topography at the last step. In highway alignment design, the use of continuous perspective can meet vehicle's physical requirements, which is useful to keep driver's psychological and physiological balance. The main purpose of this study is to develop a computer pro-gram which is applicable to highway alignment design through study of how to make and analyze perspective by means of computer.

  • At present engineers use the highway design speed concept to develop the horizontal alignment. This concept has a strength of attaining consistent horizontal alignments because of its use of a single speed value. Yet it shows a critical weakness that when opened the operating speed for the vehicles on the road can be a lot different than the design speed. To resolve this, many countries already develop the horizontal alignment by adopting procedures that weigh vehicle operating speeds, and this research joins them by developing an operating speed based horizontal alignment design. We have collected vehicle speed samples over the nation, selected some speed influential design elements by doing a statistical analysis, provided a set of models for two-lane roads and four lane roads, and showed a stepwise feedback procedure by doing a case study. It is underscored that in the case study the proposed procedure has scaled down the speed inconsistency problem, and we are of opinion that our procedure would coin both investment efficiency and speed consistency in future highway projects.

  • The extraction of horizontal alignment and cross-section of roads is very important task in road safety diagnosis. Existing road safety diagnosis methods by investigators need much time and expense but don't provide various data. Therefor, we need road shape classification automatically and extraction method of horizontal alignment and cross-section of roads through digital photogrammetry system using GPS-VAN with laser scanner. In this paper, we propose a method of mobile laser scanning data acquisition, processing and developing extraction methods of horizontal alignment and cross-section of roads using mobile laser scanning data by GPS-VAN.

  • Roads have been developed throughout the history of mankind, and play a significant role among many traffic facilities for the economy, politics and cultures of our lives. However, the management of roads has not been fully scientific or systematic due to governmental policies focused on construction resulting in damages, and the loss of drawings for existing roads. In this case, it is difficult to manage roads using normal cadastre due to its time consuming work. And, when applying satellite surveying to rapidly extract the centerline of roads, it is impossible to obtain data about the status of internal tunnels. Therefore, this study can be used to extract optimum alignment data of tunnels using the data from satellite surveying, and is a practical paper which can contribute to efficient management and usage of alignment data and road facilities in establishing a HMS(Highway Management System) for the renewal and management of the alignment data of roads, by comparing the data from satellites with the alignment data in existing drawings.

  • This paper deals with real time building of route and vertical alignment information system for the efficient and scientific management using GSIS. First, we redesigned route and vertical alignment for obtained basic data using road projector(road design main software). Using by these acquired result, we made a database on road plan and vertical alignment drawing as a basic information being used to construction of road complex information system. The main objectives in this study are the rational maintenance road planing for drawings, its database and the systematization of route information management through the fast updating, mending, supplement. Result of this study enables us to manage route information.

  • Geometric information is a key element for evaluating traffic safety and road maintenance. This study developed an algorithm to identify horizontal alignment using global positioning system(GPS) and inertial navigation system(INS) data. Roll and heading information extracted from GPS/INS were utilized to classify horizontal alignment into tangent, circular curve, and transition curve. The proposed algorithm consists of two components including smoothing for eliminating outlier and a heuristic classification algorithm. A genetic algorithm(GA) was adopted to calibrate parameters associated with the algorithm. Both freeway and rural highway data were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Promising results, which 90.48% and 88.24% of classification accuracy were obtainable for freeway and rural highway respectively, demonstrated the technical feasibility of the algorithm for the implementation.

  • 도로조명에서 선형유도는 교통과 관련하여 매우 중요한 질적인 요소이며 도로 주행 시 운전자에게 전방의 도로 형태를 미리 인지할 수 있도록 도와준다. 본 논문에서는 개발 중에 있는 낮은 조명 방식과 가로등 조명 방식에서 선형유도 성능을 평가할 수 있는 시험법을 고안하였다. 이 후 20대와 60대의 피험자를 선발하여 평가 시험을 실시할 예정이다.
