Development of a Accident Frequency Prediction Model at Rural Multi-Lane Highways (지방부 다차로 도로구간에서의 사고 예측모형 개발 (대도시권 외곽 및 구릉지 특성의 도로구간 중심으로))

  • Generally, traffic accidents can be influenced by variables driving conditions including geometric, roadside design, and traffic conditions. Under the circumstance, homogeneous roadway segments were firstly identified using typical geometric variables obtained from field data collections in this study. These field data collections were conducted at highways located in several areas having various regional conditions for examples, outside metropolitan city; level and rolling rural areas. Due to many zero cells in crash database, a Zero Inflated Poisson model was used to develop crash prediction model to overestimated results in this study. It was found that EXPO, radius, grade, guardrail, mountainous terrain, crosswalk and bus-stop have statistically significant influence on vehicle to vehicle crashes at rural multi-lane roadway segments.

A Study on the Development of the System for the Road Occupation Permit Information Management (도로점용허가 정보관리를 위한 도로점용시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a study on the development of a web-based system for the road occupation permit information management. For the development of this system, the survey of information system related to a road occupation permit, an analysis of road occupation business process, the definition of the road occupation permit data, the development of the system, and the application of the system to the work-related to road occupation permit were conducted consecutively. In an analysis of the road occupation business process, the statutes, such as the road act were investigated, work examples of the road management agent were reviewed, and a survey targeting staff and citizens was carried out. The information classification code to represent the attributes of the data was developed to manage the information in each road occupation permit process, and the metadata was defined considering the hierarchy relationship of the information. The road occupation and access system was developed based on the information classification code and metadata to reflect the user requirements. The System was applied to the Regional Construction and Management Administration and Branch Office belonging to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Affairs. By replacing the business process based on paper documents to the business process based on the information system, it is expected that the service of the civil petition be upgraded and the business process of the road occupation permit be reformed.

  • 국내 포장가속시험기의 개발은 도로신소재 개발, 중차량 교통하중의 영향분석, 온도 습도에 따른 포장체의 거동분석 등을 현장조건과 유사한 조건에서 실험 가능하게 함으로써 국내 도로분야의 연구 수준을 향상시킬 것으로 기대된다.

Building up Road Transport Research Directions of Korea through Trend Analysis (국내.외 도로교통 연구동향과 시사점)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내ㆍ외의 도로교통부문 연구동향을 살펴보고, 현재 미국, 영국, 일본 등의 선진국에서 추진중인 도로교통분야 연구과제들을 수집하여 분석함으로써 우리나라의 향후 도로정책 수립에 기여할 수 있는 도로교통분야 연구방향을 제시하였다. 우리나라와 선진국의 도로교통 연구분야를 크게 10가지로 제시하였으며, 국내의 도로교통분야 연구 중 미약한 분야와 초기단계분야 및 중간단계분야를 정성적으로 제시하였다. 이 중, 지속 가능한 도로교통체계의 확립분야, 인간중심의 도로교통체계분야, 연계교통체계 및 복합운송체계 분야, 육상(도로) 물류분야에 과감한 연구개발 및 투자가 필요한 것으로 나타났으며, 무엇보다도 도로교통분야 연구전반에 지속적이고 과감한 투자가 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 양(Quantify)-공급(Supply)-중심의 도로교통정책에서 질(Quality)-성과(Performance)- 중심의 도로교통정책이 수립되어야 하며, 향후 도로교통정책의 결정시 관련 분야 연구와의 연동화를 통한 도로교통정책-연구의 연동시스템이 정착되어야 한다.

Traffic Accident Prediction Model by Freeway Geometric Types (고속도로 선형조건별 교통사고 위험도 평가모형 개발 (호남고속도로를 중심으로))

  • Fatalities from traffic accidents constitute one of the major health issues as well as safety ones in Korea. It has been reported that traffic accident is affected by the combined effects of road. vehicle. and human factors. Over the past few decades, a number of studies have been conducted to find the impact of road geometric factors on traffic safety. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of road geometric factors on traffic safety on Korean expressways. Detailed geometric design data were available from Korea Highway Corporation. Five-year traffic accident data on Honam expressway were collected and analyzed. It was found that following geometric factors influence traffic safety on expressways : radius of curve, curve length, and length of straight section. Furthermore, the existence of I.C. turned out to have a significant impact on traffic safety level. Based on the data analysis several multiple regression forms that relate traffic accident frequencies and geometric factors on expressways are developed.

Development of Korean Life Cycle Cost Analysis Model for Road Pavement Asset Management (도로포장자산관리를 위한 한국형 생애주기비용 모형 개발)

  • Road pavement management is an important activity that affects to national economy, movement and safety of people, and also demands huge amount of budget. Therefore, its management strategy must be established under objective information. In addition, decision support system that produces the management strategy needs to consider practical benefits from various aspects. Considering these aspects, this paper aimed to develop a customized Korean life cycle cost analysis model estimating various effects on road users and socio-environmental costs based on pavement condition. The suggested LCCA model focused on Korean national highway, and tried to adopt a national guideline recommended by Korean government for securing credibility of estimation results. In the development processes, some of the suggestions that do not fit well in the situations of pavement management field were added, altered, or partially modified. These attempts to develop customized asset management system would be an important step to break away from passive attitudes relying on ready-made software, but also to improve awareness about the social benefits from the better maintenance strategy.

Alignment Optimization Considering Characteristics of Intersections (교차로의 특성을 고려한 도로선형최적화)

  • 본 연구에서는 교차로의 비용 및 특성을 고려한 도로선형최적화 모형을 유전자 알고리즘(Genetic Algorithms)을 이용하여 개발하였다. 기존의 도로선형최적화 모형은 교차로 특성을 고려하지 못해서 실제 적용에 심대한 문제점을 내재하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 특정 도로선형에 교차로 건설의 필요가 있을 경우, 민감(Sensitive)하고 지배적인(Dominating) 교차로 비용 항목들 즉, 토공비용, 보상비, 포장비, 사고비용, 지체 및 연료소모비용 등의 산정이 시도되었다. 또한 비교적 우수한 도로선형 대안을 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 탐색과정 중에서 비효율적으로 강제 퇴화시키는 단점 보완을 위한 교차로 국소 최적화 방법(Local Optimization of Intersections)이 개발되어 기존 모형을 보완하였다. 공간상의 도로선형은 매개변수적 묘사(Parametric Representation)를 통하여 구현하였으며 벡터운영(Vector Manipulation)을 통해 교차로비용 산정의 근간인 교차점과 다른 중요점들의 좌표를 찾을 수 있었다. 개발된 교차로 비용산정 모형이 보다 정밀하게 교차로 비용을 산정함이 증명되었으며 궁극적으로는 기존의 최적화 모형의 단점을 보완할 수 있음이 제시되었다. 또한, 새로이 제시된 교차로 국소 최적화 방법이 최적대안 탐색과정의 유연성을 증대하였으며, 결과적으로 효율적인 교차로의 유지에 기여함을 알 수 있었다. 제시된 교차로 국소 최적화 방법은 추후 단일노선이 아닌 도로망 최적화시의 기초를 제시함은 주목할 만 하다. 두개의 예제에서 도출된 최적노선 및 교차로 비용 등의 검토 결과, 도로상의 교차로 건설비용은 도로선형 최적화에 큰 영향을 미치는 실질적이며 민감한 비용 항목임이 검증되었으며 이는 도로선형최적화 모형이 교차로 비용을 반드시 검토 및 평가할 수 있어야 함을 반증한다.
