  • As Internet is spreaded widely, the virtual communities among people with the same interest and hobby are dynamically created. The exchange of fruitful opinion and information makes them to be closed, not only with the help of the messaging system but also wireless terminals. The messaging system is a core technology supporting the global community services like chatting, messenger, short message services, and file sharing services. The paper focus on the design of software architecture for messaging system and the engineering model for QoS support.

  • In this paper, a package, that is a new type of contents providing new consumer experience under digital broadcasting environments. is introduced. To present various advantages of package that is in standardization process of TV-Anytime Phase-2, a service scenario for personalized educational content is proposed. Then, TV-Anytime Packaging technology to support the scenario is described. It is also shown that the personalized service that provides interactive and personalized consuming experience independent of the types of content and delivery channels is feasible by using TV-Anytime Packaging technology.

  • 데이터 방송은 지상파, 위성, 케이블 둥의 방송망을 이용하여 하나의 송신자가 다수의 수용자에게 디지털 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 여러 종류의 단말기에 전송하는 것으로 컨텐츠는 프로그램에 연동되는 서비스 및 비연동형 서비스, 또는 대화형 서비스 헝태로 제공되는 다양한 서비스를 포함한다. 방송망을 이용한 데이터방송의 전송 규약은 DSM-CC에서 정의한 캐로셀(carousel) 형태로 전송된다. 캐로셀은 주기적으로 반복 전송되는 데이터 모듈을 가리키며, 캐로셀로 전송되는 데이터 중에는 MPEG-2 비디오로 인코딩되어 광고와 배경 이미지 등으로 사용할 수 있는 영상 데이터가 있다. 이 MPEG-2 비디오 영상 데이터를 TV화면에 출력하기 위해 셋톱박스의 미들웨어는 썬 마이크로시스템즈(Sun Microsystems)에서 만든 자바 기반의 JMF(Java Media Framework) 플레이어를 통해 화면에 출력한다 이렇게 제공되는 MPEG-2 비디오 영상 데이터를 비디오 드립(drips)이라 하고, 비디오 드립을 JMF 플레이어를 통해 화면에 출력하는 모드를 드립피드(drip-feed) 모드라 한다. 그러나 MHP용 셋톱박스를 위한 JMF 버전 1.0은 그대로 사용 할 수 없다. 비디오 드립 모드를 위한 구현이 없기 때문에 별도의 확장을 통해 비디오 드립을 지원하거나, 네이티브(Native) 메소드를 만들어 JMF를 확장하는 방식을 제공해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 캐로셀로 전송되는 비디오 드림 모드를 구현하기 위해 네이티브 코드로 JMF를 확장해서 비디오 드립을 JMF 플레이어를 통해 TV 화면에 출력하는 MPEG-2 비디오 드립 디코더를 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • In this paper, we implemented practical application service using VoiceXML. Developers can utilize the advantages of using VoiceXML such as reducing development time and sharing contents between applications. Up to now, speech related services were developed using APIs and programming languages such as C/C++ or exclusive developing tools, which methods depend on system architectures. For this reasons, reuse of contents and resources was very difficult. If developers want to change scenarios of the application services or change platforms, they have to edit and recompile their program sources. To solve these problems, nowadays, companies develop their applications using VoiceXML. But, there's poor grip of actual problems can be occurred when they use VoiceXML. To overcome these problems, we implemented stock trading system using VoiceXML. We found out problems which occurred during developing services. We proposed solutions to these problems And, we analyzed strong points and weak points of applications using suggested system.

A Study on Characteristics of the Type of Interactive Broadcast Program in Korea (국내 양방향 방송 프로그램 유형 특징에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the development of interactive services and technologies in the media industry. Through the analysis of domestic two-way broadcasting contents service, this study analyzed platform and services type according to service type of terrestrial broadcasting, SO operator and Telco. Also, by identifying the characteristics of interactive programs(open, interactive, personalized, stereoscopic), this study propose important convergence possibilities of the future providers and development plans through supporting technologies and services for each characteristic. In the case of terrestrial broadcasters, ARS, web sites and mobile apps were mostly provided in both directions, and SO and satellite broadcasting operators were found to provide diversity in interactive service operation using data domain. In the case of IPTV companies, most of them provide interactive services with additional video or information service through adjustment button or app, and cable TV operators had more adjustment data broadcasting than exclusive use data broadcasts. Therefore, domestic interactive broadcasting service type needs convergence type of revenue model needs and needs to be converted into new competitive interactive broadcasting program service environment.

Interactions between AI Speaker and Children : A Field Study on the Success/Failure Cases by Types of Interactions (인공지능 스피커와 아동들의 상호작용 :유형별 성공/실패 사례 도출을 위한 현장 연구)

  • As the AI speaker market is growing rapidly in recent years, the competition for the preoccupation of children who are the main users and the future prospective customers of the related companies is very intense. However, there is a lack of empirical research on how children interact with AI speakers. Therefore, this research examines the interactions between children and AI speakers, primarily through field studies, to extract what functions they use and what features they have. For this purpose, 799 conversations were collected and analyzed using the log data of the AI speaker recorded in real time. As a result, children were more likely to use children's songs, fairy tales, emotional conversations, and personification compared to adults. In addition, content analysis by specific types resulted in success/failure cases of interaction between children and AI speakers and proposed improvements by failure type. This study is meaningful in that it identifies children's AI speaker preferences, content, and major conversation patterns, and provides guidelines for developing services that meet children's eye level.

  • In this paper, we design and implement an Android mobile application that helps hearing impaired people communicate based on STT(Speech-to-Text) and TTS(Text-to-Speech) APIs and accelerometer sensor of a smartphone. This application provides the ability to record what the hearing-Impairment person's interlocutor is saying with a microphone, convert it to text using the STT API, and display it to the hearing-Impairment person. In addition. In addition, when a hearing-impaired person inputs a text using the TTS API, it is converted into voice and told to the interlocutor. When a hearing-impaired person shakes their smartphone, an accelerometer based background service function is provided to run the application. The application implemented in this paper provides a function that allows hearing impaired people to communicate easily with other people when communicating with others without using sign language as a video call.

  • In this paper, we proposed of the results of the noise level and appropriate conversation distance by applying the noise characteristics generated during treatment at a dental clinic to the NR-curve and PSIL. As a result of analyzing the noise characteristics during treatment at a dental clinic, it was analyzed that the noise level exceeded 60dB(A), which is the health preservation limit value caused by noise, and the noise level increased as the frequency increased. the result of evaluation applying it to the NR curve, some treatment exceeded the workplace noise standard, and as a result of analyzing the level of conversational disturbance between the worker and the patient, it is desirable to have the conversation at a distance of less than 1M for accurate communication. In order to improve the quality of medical service in dental clinic and to reduce dental fear, it is judged that soundproofing protective equipment is provided to workers, and soundproofing measures are needed for noise sources (treatment devices used in treatment) and sound sources (patients and workers).

  • The manipulation of the device by hand while driving is a major factor to increase the risk of accidents, and the design of in-vehicle voice conversational interface that can compensate for this is being actively researched. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the use of the barge-in function of in-vehicle voice interface on user experience. Participants were asked to carry out two tasks, one for navigation and one for music play. We conducted a survey to measure the functional user 's experience after each participant' s tasks, and measured usefulness, usability, satisfaction, and emotion as user experience factors. As a result, Barge-in has been rated as the better choice for most experience factors. There was a significant effect on usability dimension in navigation task and significant effects on usability dimension and emotional dimension in music play task. So it was found that barge-in function had a positive effect on actual user's usability and emotional dimension.

A Study on Technology Commercialization in the 4th Industrial Revolution (제4차 산업혁명의 기술 상용화에 관한 연구)

  • This study discusses the 4th industrial revolution and technology commercialization (TC), identifies success factor (SFs) for TC from the literature review, and empirically tests these factors through questionnaires to executives in the 4th industrial revolution industries. Literature review identifies 11 SFs and they are communication, management support, incentives for TC, common goals, understanding business, awareness of TC, cooperation among partners, government support, concreteness of technology, demand-pull technology, and experience of TC. Questionnaires were administered to CEOs and CIOs in 202 companies in the 4th industrial revolution industries and final response rate was 64.4% (260 out of 404) that is considered to be high. Respondents rate cooperation among partners as the most important, followed by management support, communication, common goals, and incentives for TC. To successfully pursue technology commercialization projects in the 4th industrial revolution industries, the attention should be focused on SFs that are evaluated as very important.
