The Effects of College Students' Library Satisfaction on College Life Satisfaction (대학생의 도서관 이용 만족도가 대학 생활 만족도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of college students' library satisfaction on college life satisfaction. In order to test this relationship, two surveys were conducted involving 360 college students at two universities in Seoul. The results of the first survey show that after controlling for the educational service satisfaction and facilities satisfaction, there is a significant influence of college students' library satisfaction on college life satisfaction. The second study added variables for the three components of library service quality (librarian service quality, library resources and service quality, and library facilities and environmental quality). The results of the second survey show that there is a significant influence of library service quality on college library satisfaction, and again a significant influence of college students' library satisfaction on college life satisfaction. Moreover, the results of two group analysis show that the influence of college library satisfaction on college life satisfaction is stronger in high usage group than low usage group. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 이용자의 만족도와 이용자특성에 따른 영향을 알아봄으로써, 대학도서관 이용자 서비스 제공 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구대상은 경기도에 소재한 K대학도서관 서비스를 이용하는 학부생 40명, 대학원생 40명, 교직원 20명, 총 100명을 대상자로 하였다. 연구방법은 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 이용자들의 인식에 관한 문항 설문지로 하였다. 이용자 특성에 따라 도출한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 학부생의 만족도는 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 2. 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 대학원생, 교직원의 만족도는 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이용자가 선호하는 서비스 방법은 도서관 홈페이지를 통해 제공받는 방식을 선호하였다. 따라서 본 연구를 종합해보면 향후에는 본 연구를 바탕으로 주제전문서비스를 처음 시행하는 대학도서관이 주제전문서비스를 시행할 때 목표달성에 기여하고, 서비스를 효과적으로 수행하기 위해 좋은 귀감이 될 것이라 판단된다.

  • The purpose of this study is identify users satisfaction for an academic library in order to investigate problems in academic library management and to create library development strategies. This study, also, includes relative functions between academic education and academic libraries. Research method for this study is occupied a survey for undergraduate students in K University Results of the survey can be regarded as users needs and can used for fundamental data and an assessment measure in order to develop an academic library operation plan.

  • While a number of studies have been conducted on the multimedia rooms in academic libraries, they have limitations both in the research scope and in the data analysis methods. The principal limitations are: (1) Lack of investigation on the variation in user satisfaction by users' major areas and utilization behaviors; (2) Insufficiency of examining the variation in user satisfaction with diverse library areas; (3) Lack of consideration of service providers' opinions. Accordingly, this study aimed to examine the follows: (1) investigating how users' major fields and utilization behaviors affect user satisfaction; (2) determining the relationships between the area satisfaction factors and satisfaction in general; and (3) discovering what to improve, as indicated by users and service providers. On the basis of the results, the suggestions relate to the improvements of the followings: (1) the existing system; (2) equipments and facilities; (3) resources; (4) user education; and (5) administrative and legal support.

  • Job satisfaction can affect not only physical and mental health in an individual's life but also productivity and job performance in an organzational setting. This study investigate the level of the academic librarians' job satisfaction in Korea. As the results of this investigation, the librarian or the university administrator and futhermore the government autorities must attempt to know of needs of academic librarians to improve of job satisfaction. Consequence of this study is conducive to the establishment of the academic librarians's personnel management and the advancement of academic library in Korea.

  • The research purpose for this paper is adopt the European Customer Satisfaction Index(ECSI) on a survey performed on library users to measure users' satisfaction and loyalty factors. A questionnaire is designed to integrate measurement into the library's management system for visual analysis of what users expect from library. Results from the survey show that users expect more improvement in the library environment and collection of printed publications section. Conclusion from the survey. we were able to make the following suggestions to satisfy user expectations: (1) improve library environment (2) increase collections of printed publications and periodical to meet readers' demands (3) offer more fiendly and helpful user service.

  • University libraries are involved in college education and college education is also involved in university libraries. To the knowledge information society increases the competitive power of the university and the academic library which national competitive power strengthens further must be operated developmentally. Professors and students to support research and learning activities appropriate facilities and systems must be equipped with features and the role of university libraries will be fulfilled properly. In this study, we analyze changes in the configuration space, and accordingly remodel before and after the user satisfaction survey of spatial configuration on the users' satisfaction and the results are to analyze based on C University Library. As a result of this study, the library space was utilized to determine the importance of purpose in the future, these results increase the quality of library service or library user satisfaction survey. Study will be a good reference for researchers.

A Study on Correlation between Work Environment Factors and Job Satisfaction of Librarians Working in Different Types of Libraries (관종별 도서관 사서의 직무환경요인과 직무만족도의 상관성 연구)

  • In this study, libraries of national and public universities, libraries of private universities, libraries of colleges, public libraries of local governments were selected to measure, compare and analyze the differences in job satisfaction of librarians working in different types of libraries. As for measurement items, 10 factors for job satisfaction were chosen. In doing so, this researcher compared and analyzed the overall job satisfaction and work satisfaction, employment satisfaction, satisfaction with promotion system, satisfaction with work distribution, satisfaction with payment system, satisfaction with service system, satisfaction with facility environment, satisfaction with educational training, satisfaction with welfare system, and satisfaction with personal relations. The results of the analysis on job satisfaction with each factor by librarians working in different types of libraries are presented as follows. First, the overall job satisfaction value of the librarians was 3.940, which means relatively high satisfaction, and in terms of a type of library, libraries of private universities showed the highest value, and the next ones were found to be libraries of colleges, public libraries and libraries of national and public libraries. Secondly, regarding the ranking of the overall satisfaction with the selected 10 job satisfaction factors by different types of libraries, educational training was found to rank the highest, and the next ones were surveyed to be the job, the service system, the personal relations, the employment system, the work distribution, the facility environment, the payment system, the welfare system, and the promotion system.
