The purpose of this study is to establish a model for predicting academic achievement of college students and to reveal the interrelationship and relative influence of each factor. For this, we surveyed the personal factors and learning strategy factors of 1,310 learners at J University, and analyzed the discriminant factors and patterns of the predictors of academic achievement through the decision tree analysis, a data mining method, and examined the relative effects of each factor. Binary logistic regression analysis was performed for viewing. As a result, the most important factor for predicting academic achievement was efficacy, and other factors such as motivation, time management, and depression were predictive of academic achievement. The patterns of factors predicting academic achievement were found to be high in efficacy and time management, and high in motivation for learning even if the efficacy was moderate. Low efficacy and learning motivation, and high depression have been shown to decrease academic achievement. Based on these results, the study suggested the efficacy and motivation to improve academic achievement of college students, strengthening time management education, and managing negative emotions.
The purpose of the study is to identify the grit and career preparation behaviors of healthcare major college students and to analyze factors associated with their academic achievements. A structured questionnaire survey was carried on 241 students at an university in D-city. The scores for grit, career preparation behavior, and academic achievements were 3.32, 2.87, and 3.44, respectively. The study results show statistical differences among academic achievements, motivation to choose major, and satisfaction with major and university. The strong and positive effects of grit and career preparation on academic achievements were found. The satisfaction with major(β=.279 p<.001) and grit (β=.224 p=.001) explained 23% of academic achievements. The results suggest various intervention programs based on multiple factors associated with grit and major satisfaction in order to enhance academic achievements.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between university library usage and educational achievement of academic library users. To proceed with this study, academic library usage data were collected from S university undergraduate students. Academic achievement was measured using the students' grade point average(GPA). T-test and analysis of variance were used to compare differences of means between library usage and academic achievement with the background variables. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to determine the association between library usage and academic achievement. As a result, a positive correlation was found between academic achievement and the use of library resources and services according to gender, year and academic subject. In addition, academic library usage had a positive significant influence on academic achievement. Students who used more library resources and facilities ultimately get better grades.
The purpose of this study is to identify the main factors helping university students sucessfully adapt to campus life and achieve academic accomplishment through a critical period in personal development. For this purpose, the analysis verifying influence of self leadership as an individual trait variable and social support as a socio environmental trait variable on academic achievement of university students and the mediating effect of school adjustment among them was conducted. Total 271 responses collected by implementing a questionnaire survey in "S", a four-year private university located in Seoul, were used for the analysis. The validity of the measurement was verified through confirmatory factor analysis and the relationship among the variables was examined through structural model equation, bootstrap and sobel test. The major finding of this study are as follows. First, this study confirmed the causal relationship of self leadership and social support impacting on academic achievement of university students. This result suggests that an integrated approach taking into account both individual and socio environmental factors is necessary to support academic achievement of university students. Second, it was proved that self leadership and social support indirectly influences academic achievement through school adjustment. This demonstrates that school adjustment is an important predictor of academic achievement as well as plays a major role in mediating among self leadership, social support and academic achievement. In conclusion, the results of this study conveys its significance in suggesting the necessity to provide insititutional support on individual trait and socio environmental factor enabling university students sucessfully to adapt to campus life and achieve academic achievement.
Current study examine whether happiness (life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect) improves academic achievement (GPA) by longitudinal data. Two surveys were conducted with one year interval and total 112 respondents participated in both surveys. Hierarchical regression analysis was employed to investigate that happiness in the first time have an effect on GPA in the second time after controlling for GPA in the first time as well as demographic variables. We found that life satisfaction and positive affect in the first survey improved GPA after the next semester. Interestingly, GPA did not bring happiness by this longitudinal data. The implication for study were discussed.
