Data were collected in a 4-year university in Jeollanam-do and a total of 127 female and 93 male college students participated in this study in April, 2018. Descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. Male students' level of sexual harassment awareness were lower than femal's (p<.001). Male's sexual attitude was more conservative, but difference of sexual attitude between male and female was not statistically significant (p=.073). This study presented that the more conservative sexual attitude was related to the higher level of sexual harassment awareness in male group. On the contrary, the more conservative sexual attitude was related to the lower level of sexual harassment awareness in female group. It is necessary to develop a gender-specific sexual harassment prevention education program.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the associations between social support, self-esteem, self-concealment, and depression among college students. The mediating effects of self-concealment and gender differences in the associations were also examined. This study investigated these relationships and the gender differences using structural equation modeling multi-group analysis. The data collected from 307 college students in Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas were analyzed. The results indicated that both social support and self-esteem had effects on depression indirectly through self-concealment, and self-esteem also had direct effects on depression. The indirect effects of self-concealment were statistically significant. There were no gender differences in these relationships. These results suggest that self-concealment should be focused to prevent or alleviate depression among college students.

  • In this study, we examined the effects of University adaptation on career adaptation through self-leadership and learning commitment, and identified the regulatory effects of demographic characteristics (sex, grade, grade level, and willingness to work). To this end, we analyzed the data for 289 college students. The results of the study are as follows. First, adaptation to University life has a significant impact on learning commitment and self-leadership. However, adaptation to University life has an indirect effect on learning commitment and self-leadership rather than directly affecting career adaptation. Second, demographic characteristics have a regulatory effect on the path through which University adaptation affects career adaptation through self-leadership and learning commitment. The factors that were regulated were age, grade, and willingness to work. Therefore, in order to adapt to university life and adapt to career, we developed a program to improve self-leadership and learning commitment, and suggested that customized guidance is needed considering the differences in personal characteristics such as gender and academic background in university life and career counseling.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy of college students. The relation between appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy was also examined. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The convenience sample consisted of 395 undergraduate college students from three universities in D city. The data were collected from May to July, 2011 using the Body Cathexis Scale and the Self Efficacy Scale. Data analysis was performed with SPSS WIN 21.0 Program. The scores on both scales showed a significant difference between male and female students, and the male students had higher scores. Male and female students had similar rank order of body part by satisfaction scores. There were significant correlations between appearance satisfaction scores and self-efficacy scores but there were no significant differences between the correlation coefficients in male and female students. This result indicates that the effect of appearance satisfaction on self-efficacy was similar in both male and female students. The findings of this study suggest that an intervention program to enhance appearance satisfaction is effective in increasing self-efficacy of college students.

  • This research aimed to identify core words used as associative words and definitions for expressing 'electricity' terminology and to find how core ones are activated to form a cognitive structure, using network analysis. The participants targeted 83 university freshmen students in the University of Education located in suburbs. Depending on their gender, whether or not they completed physics in high school, the associative words and definitions were analyzed using the network method, classifying two sections: before-lesson and after-lesson. The result is as follows: At before-lesson associative words for 'electricity' terminology, a slightly different network construction was revealed based on their two properties. However, after the class, they showed similar network structure irrespective of their distinctive characteristics. When it comes to other 'electricity' definitions, before taking the course, they had similar network connection across the gender but based on physics education status, there appeared subtle differences. Ultimately, after the class they demonstrated similar network structure regardless of their features. In conclusion, this paper suggests educational implications on network analysis, which covers 'electricity' terminology of university students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment of nursing students. The role of self-esteem and gender in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment were also examined. A descriptive correlational design was adopted and the convenience sample consisted of 188 undergraduate nursing students in D city. It was found that appearance satisfaction affected directly and indirectly through self-esteem on school adjustment. The results indicated that self-esteem had partial mediation effects in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment. Moderation effect of gender was found only in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-esteem. This meant that women were affected more than men according to the level of appearance satisfaction. The results suggested that the intervention program to support nursing students to accept themselves more positively and to enhance their self-esteem will be effective to help nursing students adjust themselves more to school life. It was also indicated in this study that specialized intervention programs are needed for women.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of health related departments' self-efficacy on stress-coping strategies by setting up grade and sex as regulating variables and figure out their mediating effects. To attain the goal, a survey was conducted to 1,442 undergraduates attending S University, and the results went through analysis by using SPSS and AMOS. To sum up the study results, preference of difficult project exerted negative effects on avoidance-centeredness. Self confidence had negative effects on avoidance-centeredness. Self-regulating efficacy indicated positive effects on social support-orientation and problem solving-centeredness while avoidance-centeredness showed negative effects. Regarding effects among self-efficacy's subfactors, confidence, self-regulating efficacy, and preference for task difficulty, and stress-coping strategies' subfactors, social support-orientation, problem solving-centeredness, and avoidance-centeredness, there was difference found in the model by grade, but there was no difference found by sex.
