On Value-driven Market Orientation Strategies in Academic Libraries (대학도서관의 가치 기반 서비스 마케팅 강화 전략)

  • Marketing techniques developed for private organizations are being widely used in libraries. The primary focus in marketing has shifted to maximizing user perceived value from the perspective of library users. This paper examines library as an industry as a way to establish the basis for library's overall value, applies the R-I-R model and its taxonomy of value in using library and information services, and proposes market orientation approach to systematically plan and coordinate academic library marketing activities.

A Study on Development in Academic Libraries (대학도서관 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Academic libraries have been facing threats and opportunities at the same time because of a successful combination of information and communication technologies such as the internet. This study presented the need for library development in academic libraries, to assist with increasing costs and declining budgets and fulfilling users' expectations of additional information services. It suggested as a guide for library development of academic libraries in Korea through providing examples of various methods and cases for library development. As a result of research, this study provided the basic ideas of academic library development, which includes forming a community of friends of library and developing fundraising and fee-based information services.

Evaluation Efficiency of University libraries though Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA를 이용한 대학도서관의 효율성 평가 -프랑스의 대학도서관을 대상으로-)

  • In order to appreciate the varied activities of university libraries, this study assesses their efficiencies in the process of production and utilization of their services for two consecutive years, 1999 and 2000. Using a Data Envelopment Analysis with exogenously fixed factors, this study analyses separately efficiencies identified. The results show that efficiencies of libraries appear differently according to the year of evaluation, the dimension of evaluation as well as the difference of statute. The specialized libraries as CADIST are definitely higher in terms of use of services. In addition, inefficiency is mainly due to deficits of production of outputs rather than excesses of utilisation of inputs. For example, time devoted to user's training constitutes the most significant potentiality of increase in the production of services.

Current Status and Future Perspectives of Academic Library Online Services in the Pandemic Era (팬데믹 시대 대학도서관 온라인 정보서비스의 현황과 과제)

  • After the pandemic, universities are shifting to distance learning, and the information use environment of libraries is rapidly changing. Therefore, there is a need for academic libraries to provide learning and research support services to users in response to these changes. This study analyzed the following contents, focusing on the contents of online services of academic libraries in order to understand the services provided by academic libraries after the pandemic, 1) the current status of online information services provided by 60 academic libraries at domestic and foreign and 2) the experience and requirements for using the online information services of academic library were investigated. As a result of the study, academic libraries at domestic and foreign responded to the untact environment by providing various online information services and users showed high experience and requirements for the electronic resource service and online user education service of academic libraries after the outbreak of the pandemic. Based on the analysis of the current status of online information services provided by domestic and foreign academic libraries after the outbreak of the pandemic, as well as the experiences and requirements of university students, several strategies were proposed to improve the quality of university education and library online information services and to plan services that respond to user needs.

  • Academic libraries presently are confronting the issues of organizational viability and relevance. Academic libraries are not the sole owners of the information gateway. The purpose of this study is modeling of university library's information service for effective implication of its role in order to ensure organizational viability and relevance in internet environment. New information service model of university library needs to be design according to four Principles. Firstly, building of web based library petals. User Needs and Uses of Mobile Services in Academic Libraries (대학도서관 모바일 서비스 이용자의 요구와 이용 분석 연구)

  • Academic libraries are trying to develop fully mobile web sites and mobile applications so that users can access to their services even using mobile devices. As the mobilization trends of library services increase in quantity, we need to more focus on what mobile services users want, ultimately for the growth with quality. This study seeks to explore users' needs and uses of mobile library services and then suggests solutions for improving the mobile services in academic libraries. This study conducted on and off-line surveys with 608 students from two universities, which have provided active mobile services with both a mobile web site and an application. The questionnaire was designed to elicit information on respondents' frequency of mobile library visit, the purpose of visit, the reason to use/not use, how to access to the services, the preferred types of the services, satisfaction and dissatisfaction factors, and urgently needed improvements. Based on the findings, this study discussed strategies to improve the quality of mobile services and to increase in users' visit.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose ways to improve the Virtual Reality (VR) service in Korea through the user evaluations of a university library that provide users with VR experiences as a new technology. With the advent of the 4th industrial revolution, interests in the VR industry increase and access to technology is strengthened. The kinds of VR services at the university libraries and the status of VR services at the domestic and foreign libraries were analyzed. After carrying out user surveys and in-depth interviews with VR service users, improvement plans were suggested according to the users' opinions and the analysis of domestic and foreign case studies.

An Analysis of the Current Practice of E-book Management and Services in Academic Libraries : Focused on A and B Academic Libraries (대학도서관 전자책 관리 및 서비스 실태 분석: A와 B 대학도서관을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to analyze the current status of e-book management and services in academic libraries and identify related issues in the provision of the services. To do that, it performed case studies with A and B university libraries. E-book usage statistics was collected from each library and interviews were conducted with librarians responsible for e-book management and services. The interviews included questions regarding obstacles to e-book management and services and current issues as well as budget and acquisition, access and catalogues, usage, and marketing for e-books. The results show that in both libraries, the usage of e-books is low compared with that of printed books and the usage of e-books has declined recently. This is because of lack of new books with shortage of budget. Also, the most important issue surrounding e-book services is academic library evaluation, enacted by Academic Library Promotion Act in 2015. This study discussed how the criteria for academic library evaluation influence the way the academic libraries acquire and manage e-books.

A Study on the Current Status of Metaverse Utilization in University Libraries and Librarian Perceptions (대학도서관의 메타버스 활용 현황 및 사서 인식조사 연구)

  • Recently, services using metaverse in various fields are increasing, the technology is behind the metaverse is rapidly developing. Consequently, it is necessary to provide metaverse services in university libraries. Therefore, this study examined the status of using metaverse in domestic university libraries and the librarians response to it. To this end, the cases of foreign libraries and domestic university libraries were analyzed. Furthermore, an interview was conducted with nine librarians of the university library, who has running metaverse service, to collect data on the current status of the university library metaverse and perceptions of it to identify difficulties and requirements of running the service. Based on the results, it is proposing to get the differentiation of metaverse service, acquire professionals, activate education, expand the browsing feature, and select proper platforms as a way to vitalize the metaverse of domestic university libraries. It is expected that this study will help to running or planning the metaverse service of the university library.

  • 21세기를 맞이하여 대학도서관은 정보기술의 도입, 업무내용의 변화, 이용자의 요구변화등 급격하게 변화하는 새로운 환경에 직면해 있다. 본 연구는 한국의 대학도서관 조직구조의 현황에 대한 분석과 함께 다양한 조직이론들과 정보환경의 변화에 기초해서 도서관조직을 활성화시키기위한 개념적인 조직모델을 제시하고자 한다. 한국의 대학도서관은 거의 10년동안 법적인 제약과 조직내외의 환경적인 한계 등으로 인해 전산화시스템의 도입, 도서관부관장의 임명, 그리고 도서관과 컴퓨터 센터와의 통합시도와 같은 약간의 변화외에는 거의 변화가 없었다. 전형적인 한국의 대학도서관은 수서, 기술서비스, 열람과 참고봉사 부문으로 조직되었다. 여기서 수서 기능을 기술서비스의 부문으로 간주한다면, 본 연구의 대상인 대학도서관 114개관 중 95개관(82.5%)이 전통적인 도서관조직의 형태인 기술서비스와 공공서비스 부문으로 조직된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 전통적인 도서관조직의 문제점들을 급복할 수 있는 21세기의 개념적인 대학도서관 조직모델로서, 네가지 부문 - 서비스 부문, 서비스지원 부문, 기술지원 부문, 그리고 통합·조정부문-을 대학도서관의 개념적인 기본 구성요소로써 제안하였다. 그러나 모든 도서관의 서비스나 업무과정에 대해 적합한 잉상적인 조직구조는 없으며, 조직의 재조직과정은 도서관의 형태와 목적, 업무과정에 따라 매우 다양하다. 따라서 도서관의 재조직화는 환경의 변화에 따라 끊임없는 과정이 될 것이며, 도서관조직의 성공은 이러한 변화에 적응할 수 있는 개인과 조직의 역량에 달려있다고 하겠다.대한 순서에 있어서 차이가 있다. 4) 도서관에 대한 태도에 있어서 두 집단은 상이한 입장을 보이고 있다. 학자들의 과반수는 중요 정보원으로서 자신의 개인장서를 활용하며, 도서관의 장서 및 그 조직방법에 대해서도 별로 만족하지를 못하고 있다. 반면에, 실무가들은 도서관에 대하여 비교적 만족하며 따라서 도서관에 대한 이용도도 높다. 5) 두 집단 모두 보조인을 적극적으로 활용하지 않으며 사서의 도움을 받는 경우도 극소수에 불과하다. 이러한 조사결과를 기초로 하여 볼 때 법률전문직을 둘러싼 정보환경을 개선하기 위하여는, 인쇄된 일차적 정보자료의 검색방법등을 개선하고, 나아가서는 법령과 판례정보를 위한 효율적인 시스템을 구축하며, 뿐만 아니라 이용자의 요구에 충분히 대처할 수 잇는 도서관으로 변화되는 것이다. 이와 함께 가장 중요한 것은 법과대학과 사법연수원에서 법학 연구방법에 관한 강좌를 개설하여 각종 법률정보원의 활용 내지 도서관 이용방법에 관하여 교육하는 것이다.글을 연구하고, 그 결과에 의존하여서 우리의 실제의 생활에 사용하는 $\boxDr$한국어사전$\boxUl$등을 만드는 과정에서, 어떤 의미에서 실험되었다고 말할 수가 있는 언어과학의 연구의 결과에 의존하여서 수행되는 철학적인 작업이다. 여기에서는 하나의 철학적인 연구의 시작으로 받아들여지는 이 의미분석의 문제를 반성하여 본다. 것이 필요하다고 사료된다.크기에 의존하며, 또한 이러한 영향은 $(Ti_{1-x}AI_{x})N$ 피막에 존재하는 AI의 함량이 높고, 초기에
