  • The purpose of this study was to identify experiences of core basic nursing skills(CBNS), self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence in 208 nursing students attending nursing department and understand which factor, either experiences of CBNS or self-confidence during clinical practice has an impact on clinical competence. Our research findings are as follows. There was a positive correlation between experiences of CBNS, self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence. The factor that had the biggest impact on clinical competence was self-confidence during clinical practice and the explanation power of both factors was 31.2%, based on multiple regression analysis. Based on these findings, nursing educate need to develop a curriculum to increase self-confidence during clinical practice in students.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, spirituality and quality of life in nursing students with clinical practice. Participants were 172 fourth-year nursing students who were recruited from 3 universities. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires from November 7 to December 11 in 2020. The results show that burnout was negatively correlated with quality of life and compassion satisfaction was positively correlated with quality of life. In addition, spirituality was negatively correlated with burnout and was positively correlated with compassion satisfaction. In order to improve the quality of life of nursing students, it is necessary to develop and apply a spirituality promotion strategy that can control compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction along with the enhancement of compassion competency in the undergraduate course

  • ROK has a lot to benchmark from how Ukraine is fighting Russia back with its tactical wins. They have taken a targeted strategy to strike Russia's top generals with high precision. To carry out this strategy, Ukraine is operating a Special Operations Force, which utilizes US/NATO forces, civilian and own resources for maximum impact. Of note, they utilize Starlink for seamless connection from detection, decision-making to strike to maximize operational efficiency. As ROK faces security threat of weapons of mass destruction, Ukraine's military intelligence organization set-up, weapons system and operations can provide some guidance on how to leverage its various SOF as well.

  • Purpose: Medication adherence in older adults with multimorbidity is critical for self-care. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to identify the factors that influence medication adherence in older adults with multimorbidity. Methods: The patients were 116 adults 65 or older with three or more chronic diseases. The data were collected from December 2020 to April 2022 in outpatient clinics at a hospital in Daejeon. Results: The mean scores of depression, social support, and medication adherence were 16.18± 6.74 (of 30), 41.06± 6.56 (of 60), and 4.69± 1.85 (of 8) points, respectively. Patients with low adherence comprised the most with 75 patients (64.7%). Influencing factors on medication adherence were depression (β= -.35, p= .007) and family support among social support (β= .29, p= .006). Conclusion: Among older adults with multimorbidity, lower depression as well as higher family support, results in higher medication adherence. It is necessary to develop a practical strategy toward improving medication adherence, by sensitively managing the degree of depression, as well as strengthening family support.

  • This study is a descriptive research study to confirm the digital literacy of nursing students and to understand the relationship between communication ability and self-efficacy. From March 15, 2022 to April 30, 2022, this study was conducted with 204 nursing students located in D city. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS 22.0. Digital literacy and self-efficacy (r=.394, p<.001), digital literacy and communication ability (r=.567, p<.001) showed a significant positive correlation. Among the sub-factors of digital literacy, all factors except compliance ability showed a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and communication ability. Therefore, it is judged that this study will be used as basic data for digital literacy education of nursing students by identifying the digital literacy of nursing students and confirming the relationship between communication ability and self-efficacy.

  • This study is a descriptive research to examine the effects of meta-cognition and resilience on clinical reasoning ability of nursing students who have completed the simulation education integrated with problem based learning. The study subjects were senior nursing students who had experienced SIM-PBL education, and data was collected by using a structured questionnaire from September to December 2021. The collected data was analyzed employing descriptive statistics, correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis using the SPSS program. The results demonstrated that meta-cognition and resilience had a significant positive correlation with clinical reasoning ability. The chief factors influencing on the clinical reasoning ability of nursing students were as follows: confidence in participating in the SIM-PBL education, meta-cognition, and resilience. In addition, the three factors explained the clinical reasoning ability at a high level of 75%. The clinical reasoning ability of nursing students may be cultivated by applying internal reinforcers of self-confidence, meta-cognition, and resilience into a SIM-PBL simulation.

  • This study aimed to identify the effect of academic emotions, learning flow and perceived teaching presence for academic achievement of nursing students in an uncontacted online class learning in the convergence society. The participants were 127 nursing students; data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation, multiple regression. It was found that: nursing students showed higher score at academic emotions, higher learning flow, and higher perceived teaching presence, higher score for academic achievement. The main factors influencing academic achievement were academic emotions, learning flow and perceived teaching presence. They explained about 42.7% of the academic achievement. Therefore, when operating uncontacted online classes for nursing students, it is necessary to consider the factors of learners, the personal efforts of the instructor, and systematic support for strengthening the instructor's capabilities.

  • The competition among nations has been extended to competition between localities, and the importance of knowledge activities in local areas is being emphasized. To contribute to the nurturing of highly qualified professionals and the development of local industry, the Korean government established the S&T-centric research universities including KAIST in 5 local areas. These S&T-centric research universities are top notch research centers and educational environments in Korea. However, it has been pointed out that their ability to act as local innovation hubs is limited. Accordingly, this study conducted an empirical analysis on the outcomes of the S&T-centric research universities by dividing them into two categories, Mode 1 and Mode 2, and comparing them with those of other general universities. It was found that the outcomes of the S&T-centric universities were higher in Mode 1, but lower in Mode 2, than those of the general universities. Furthermore, the S&T-centric universities are not connected very much to the region's specialized industries. It was difficult to find any evidence that the S&T-centric universities differ from the other universities in terms of their outcomes or activities as they were initially envisaged.

  • In the context of an increased demand in universities' expansion of networks between other innovation actors, this research attempts to make a comparison on university-centered SCIE knowledge networks between regions. Using regional comparison, we have looked into these networks in regards to their characteristics, the importance of regional boundaries, and the effect of the regional industrial policy. As a result of this comparative analysis, we discovered that the point universities and research universities hold high centrality in regional knowledge networks, and that the characteristics of regions are reflected into this network. For instance, the Gyeonggi province had a preeminent level of industry-academy relationship, while for Daejeon it was public research institutions and academy, and Gangwon province it was between academy between academy. As a network analysis based on journals above SCIE levels, regional boundaries were not very clear in the network structures. However, within these boundaries, the impact of regional industrial policies were proven to be stronger in the Gang-won province where the academy-academy network was most prominent. The implication of this research outcome is that for regional innovation, government should more actively implement policies that can link academic institutes' knowledge to industry by expanding knowledge networks. In addition, we emphasize on the necessity of a regionally-appropriate policy, rather than a generalized industrial policy. And fundamentally, in regards to innovation, establishing a sound industrial infrastructure for regional development and efforts to link relevant actors are required.
