Moderating Effect of Instruction and Curriculum on Relationship between Educational Service Quality and Student satisfaction in Universities in China (대학교육서비스 품질요인과 학생만족도에 대한 교수방법 및 교육과정의 조절효과 연구)

  • The authors of this study conducted research on universities located in China, and the primary purpose of the study was to test whether the quality factors of university education service have a positive (+) effect on student satisfaction. The secondary purpose of the study was to identify and analyze whether university instruction and curriculum variables had a positive regulatory effect on the relationship between quality factors and student satisfaction. First, Research Hypothesis 1, which suggested that university education service quality factors would have a positive effect on student satisfaction, was adopted. As the second analytical process of the study, controlled regression analysis was used to verify whether instruction and the curriculum had a regulatory effect on the relationship between the university education service quality factors and student satisfaction. When the two variables were analyzed as control variables, the results showed that curriculum had a significant positive regulatory effect, and instruction was shown to not be suitable for generating win-win cooperation or synergistic effects. The contributions of the theoretical perspective of this study were the analysis of the relationship between university education service quality factors in Chinese universities and student satisfaction, and systematically linking instructions and the curriculum and analyzing the impact on student satisfaction. The study implies that it would be more effective to analyze additional factors in the operation of universities through in-depth analysis on instruction from a practical standpoint.

The Study on the Satisfaction of the Education programs: Focus on Adult Learner at the Lifelong Education Institutes of University (대학부설 평생교육원의 교육만족도와 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to survey 1,067 adult learners who are attending lifelong education center in universities in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheongnam-do in order to understand educational satisfaction and its effects factors. Educational satisfaction is composed the following factors: overall satisfaction, instructor, education contents, education methods, educational facilities and environment, and staff service. Also, we had a conditional factor in educational satisfaction for this survey; for example, the analysis of correlation at the education satisfaction variables between age, region, and gender. The key study results are as follows. First, the overall educational satisfaction was higher than the level of averages in the lifelong institute of the universities. Second, the highest factor was the satisfaction at the adult learners which is instructors in their curriculums among various factors; however, the staff service was the lowest. The third, the main variables influencing educational satisfaction were instructors, education contents, and facilities and environments of the institutes. To be specific, the explanatory power of these three variables was about 36 percent of the total effects on the satisfaction of education. Therefore, the implication for managing the lifelong education institutes for the adult learners are that the institutes and universities should have a priority in these areas: instructors, education contents, and facilities and environments.

A Study on the Evaluation Factors on Korean University Education for Promoting Educational Service Export from the Perspective of Chinese Student in Korea (교육서비스수출 촉진을 위한 한국 대학교육 평가요인에 관한 연구: 중국인 유학생 관점에서)

  • The survey was conducted by Chinese students who currently attend universities for the purpose of evaluating factors that determine the quality of educational services of universities in Korea. Three public universities and five private universities in Kyungsang province were surveyed for the purpose of this study with standardized questionnaires. The study raised questions on four different fronts: 1) Is there a difference in the importance of evaluation factors by Chinese student's on the quality of educational services between public universities and private ones? 2) Is there a difference in the degree of satisfaction felt by Chinese students who attend public universities or private ones? 3) Are there any significant differences in the importance of evaluation factors and satisfaction with the quality of educational services? 4) How different the relative influence of evaluation factors has on satisfaction with the quality of educational services for overall Korean university system? The results of this study showed that there was no statistical difference in signification in the importance of evaluation factors on the quality of educational services between public universities and private universities. Only the relationship factor in criteria four had an effect on satisfaction with quality of educational services between public and private universities. There were significant differences in the importance of evaluation factors and satisfaction with the quality of educational services. Chinese students determined that professor's lectureship as the most important factor, and is the ultimate deciding factor whether they attend a public or private university. It should be noted that studying and knowledge are primary concerns to them. Improvements in the quality of educational services in area of lectureship, physical education facilities, relationship, and administrative services are essential and crucially important for Korean universities in order to attract foreign students and to enhance their competitiveness in the global setting.

Effect Analysis of the SW Curriculum Reorganization for Non-CS Students on the Class Satisfaction (비전공자 대상 SW교육과정 개편이 수업만족도에 미친 영향분석)

  • 본 연구는 H대학에서 비전공자 대상 교양필수 SW 교육과정을 프로그래밍 중심으로 개편한 2015년 이후 3개년도와 이전 3개 년도의 수업만족도에서 차이가 나는가에 대해 비교분석하여 개편 후 비전공자 대상 SW교육과정의 효과성을 파악하고자 한다. H대학은 2015년 교양 SW교육과정을 프로그래밍 중심으로 개편하였다. 개편 전후 수업 만족도의 변화가 있었는가? 라는 연구문제를 기반으로 분석한 결과, 개편 후 3년간 수업만족도는 개편 전 3년보다 높게 나타났으며, 1학기보다는 2학기 교과목들의 수업만족도 편차가 더 크게 나타났다. 1학기 만족도는 유의수준 10%에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 2학기 만족도는 유의수준 5%에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 개편 후 다양한 프로그래밍 언어 중 선택할 수 있도록 교과과정을 제공한 것이 원인인 것으로 파악된다.

A Study on Values and College Adjustment: the Case of C University (대학생들의 가치관과 대학생활 적응에 관한 연구: C 대학 사례를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the factors correlated with adjustment to collage life of students such as their academic achievement and college life satisfaction. This research focuses on the relationship between values and college life satisfaction based on perspectives that individual values have close affinity with life satisfaction. For analyses, we used 5-years of information of college admission and GPAs of all students, and survey data of 671 students of C university. The results are as follows; 1) academic achievement is the highest among those with comprehensive school report admission-within the enrollment quota, 2) college life satisfaction is pertaining to specific values such as belief in justice, cooperation, and trust, 3) college life satisfaction is related with the satisfaction of overall educational environment. The results emphasize the importance of education of public values to enhance adjustment to college life of students.

The Effect of K-university Professors' Perception of University on Job Satisfaction (K대학 교수들의 대학에 대한 인식이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of K-university professors' perception of the university on job satisfaction. To do this, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were applied on job satisfaction and university perception (curriculum, lecture, research support, research system, undergraduate(major), organizational communication, personnel system, welfare system) data of 81 professors at K-University. As results, each factor showed a statistically significant correlation, and it was found that the perception of lectures, the perception of research support, the recognition of the research system, and the perception of personnel system had a significant positive effect on job satisfaction. Based on the results of this study, policy measures to help increase job satisfaction were suggested.

A Comparative Study of University Students' Satisfaction on the Online Courses between Primary & Secondary Teachers' University: Focused on the English-Related Subjects (온라인 영어강좌에 대한 대학생들의 수업만족도 분석연구: 초등예비교사와 중등예비교사의 비교)

  • This study aims to investigate the class satisfaction of the students enrolled in between a primary and secondary teacher's college, and to identify any statistical differences among the class satisfaction factors. In order to answer these questions, a survey of 50 questionnaires were distributed to 54 primary teachers' college students and 50 secondary teacher's college ones, respectively. A survey consisted of 5 categories including class contents, instruction results, class environment, instructional supports and efficiency. To analyze data, the descriptive analysis and independent sample t-test were administerd using Jamovi statistical program. The results revealed that there was no significant difference between two groups in terms of the overall class satisfaction, even though the mean score from the secondary teachers' college students was higher than that of the primary teachers' college students. However, there was a significant difference in the class satisfaction's sub categories: class environment, instructional supports and efficiency.

Differences in Major Satisfaction by Gender and University Type and Analysis of University Education Service Factors Affecting Major Satisfaction (전공만족도의 성별·대학유형별 차이와 대학교육 서비스 영향요인 분석)

  • This study aims to analyze the differences in major satisfaction among college students by gender and university type(public, private), and what are the college education service factors that affect major satisfaction. Using data from the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey, a total of 1,220 students' data were analyzed using SPSS 23, and descriptive statistics, t-test, and multiple regression analysis were performed. As a result of the study, first, there was no significant difference in major satisfaction by gender or university type. Second, it was found that the service factors of university education had a significant influence on major satisfaction in the order of curriculum, educational content, student support system, and faculty and educational facilities had no significant effect on major satisfaction. Through this, in order to increase major satisfaction of college students, which is the competitiveness of the university, it is necessary to reorganize the curriculum and educational contents to improvement the quality of education and develop competence based on the needs of society and students.

  • Recently many higher education institutes in Korea try to improve the education excellence, because there are some criticisms on the readiness of graduates for the needs of companies. We study the relationship between the satisfaction of college life and their academic achievements for freshmen during last 5 years at a certain university (so-called H University). In this paper, we study some requirements for freshmen to meet their needs to upgrade their capability throughout both curricular and extra-curricula activity and also study to improve their satisfaction of college life. We also propose some curricular and extra-curricula activity for freshmen to meet the their needs for the excellent academic achievement and to have satisfactory college life.
