A Study on the Comparison of Storage Sharing Schemes in Queueing System with Finite Capacity Buffer (유한 용량의 버퍼를 가지는 대기행렬에서의 저장공간 공유방안 비교에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 유한 저장공간을 가지는 대기행렬 시스템에서 완전공유(Complete Sharing), 완전분할(Complete Partitioning), 최소할당공유(Sharing with Minimum Allocation)와 같은 다양한 저장공간 공유방안들을 비교ㆍ분석하는 것으로, 이를 위하여 먼저 각각의 공유방안에서의 대기행렬 안정상태확률을 효율적으로 구할 수 있는 방법이 제시되었다. 다음으로 각각의 저장공간 공유방안을 특징짓는데 필요한 몇 가지 성질들이 규명되었으며, 이를 토대로 각각의 저장공간 공유방안에 대하여 시스템 성능척도인 생산률들을 도출하는 한편, 이들의 대소관계를 파악하고, 수치실험을 통하여 이를 입증하였다.

  • Management of the existing traffic network and understanding current traffic conditions is the most important and effective way to solve traffic congestion. This research investigates the status of Korea expressway through the Speed-Flow-Density diagram and finds the best suitable queueing model for each area. Dynamic structure in the queueing model enables us to reflect the structural change of the road in case of traffic congestion. To find the best model and estimate the parameters, we use the Newton-Raphson method. Finally, we examine the road efficiency in view of the optimal speed and density using the conditional distribution of speed and density of a S-F-D diagram.

Queue Detection using Fuzzy-Based Neural Network Model (퍼지기반 신경망모형을 이용한 대기행렬 검지)

  • Real-time information on vehicle queue at intersections is essential for optimal traffic signal control, which is substantial part of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Computer vision is also potentially an important element in the foundation of integrated traffic surveillance and control systems. The objective of this research is to propose a method for detecting an exact queue lengths at signalized intersections using image processing techniques and a neural network model Fuzzy ARTMAP, which is a supervised and self-organizing system and claimed to be more powerful than many expert systems, genetic algorithms. and other neural network models like Backpropagation, is used for recognizing different patterns that come from complicated real scenes of a car park. The experiments have been done with the traffic scene images at intersections and the results show that the method proposed in the paper could be efficient for the noise, shadow, partial occlusion and perspective problems which are inevitable in the real world images.

A Study on Left-turn Queues Analysis using Queueing Theory under Permissive Left-turn Signal System (비보호좌회전 신호체계운영에 따른 좌회전 대기행렬분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the optimal length of left-turn lane in permissive left-turn signal system at the signalized intersection which has a left-turn bay is estimated. It is a simulation analysis using the queueing theory that estimate the length of left-turn lane. Traffic density conform to the standards of operating a permissive left-turn system of the Practical Manual Traffic Safety Facilities. And each of a left-turn arrival rate, a left-turn service rate, left-turn average queueing time, for green time average queueing vehicle, for red time average queueing vehicle and average queueing vehicle cycle is calculated. As a result of this study, we would learn how much the space should be secured at the signalized intersection which has a left-turn bay. The methodology using the queueing theory to work out the optimal length of waiting lane in the permissive left-turn signal system was presented.

Analysis of an M/G/1/K Queueing System with Queue-Length Dependent Service and Arrival Rates (시스템 내 고객 수에 따라 서비스율과 도착율을 조절하는 M/G/1/K 대기행렬의 분석)

  • We analyze an M/G/1/K queueing system with queue-length dependent service and arrival rates. There are a single server and a buffer with finite capacity K including a customer in service. The customers are served by a first-come-first-service basis. We put two thresholds $L_1$ and $L_2$($${\geq_-}L_1$$ ) on the buffer. If the queue length at the service initiation epoch is less than the threshold $L_1$, the service time of customers follows $S_1$ with a mean of ${\mu}_1$ and the arrival of customers follows a Poisson process with a rate of ${\lambda}_1$. When the queue length at the service initiation epoch is equal to or greater than $L_1$ and less than $L_2$, the service time is changed to $S_2$ with a mean of $${\mu}_2{\geq_-}{\mu}_1$$. The arrival rate is still ${\lambda}_1$. Finally, if the queue length at the service initiation epoch is greater than $L_2$, the arrival rate of customers are also changed to a value of $${\lambda}_2({\leq_-}{\lambda}_1)$$ and the mean of the service times is ${\mu}_2$. By using the embedded Markov chain method, we derive queue length distribution at departure epochs. We also obtain the queue length distribution at an arbitrary time by the supplementary variable method. Finally, performance measures such as loss probability and mean waiting time are presented.

Stationary Waiting Times in Simple Fork-and-Join Queues with Finite Buffers and Communication Blocking (통신차단규칙을 따르는 유한버퍼 단순 조립형 대기행렬 망에서의 안정대기시간)

  • In this study, we consider stationary waiting times in a simple fork-and-join type queue which consists of three single-server machines, Machine 1, Machine 2, and Assembly Machine. We assume that the queue has a renewal arrival process and that independent service times at each node are either deterministic or non-overlapping. We also assume that the Machines 1 and 2 have an infinite buffer capacity whereas the Assembly Machine has two finite buffers, one for each machine. Services at each machine are given by FIFO service discipline and a communication blocking policy. We derive the explicit expressions for stationary waiting times at all nodes as a function of finite buffer capacities by using (max,+)-algebra. Various characteristics of stationary waiting times such as mean, higher moments, and tail probability can be computed from these expressions.

Determination of Minimum Spacing between Off-ramp Terminus and Intersection Considering the Influence of Adjacent Signalized Intersections (신호교차로 영향에 따른 도시고속도로 유출연결로 최소이격거리에 관한 연구)

  • The interchanges of urban freeways have many problems with traffic operation due to high off-ramp flows and frequent congestion at adjacent intersections. The flow exiting from off-ramps is affected by the operational status and traffic volume conditions of the nearest signalized intersection. As a result, off-ramp flow cannot exit and the queue backs up the freeway mainline when queues from the signalized intersection form up to the junction of the off-ramp and street. The spacing between an off-ramp and an adjacent intersection is likely to determine the traffic conditions at the adjacent intersection. However, the current design guidelines do not consider such a factor. This study is to develop a model calculating the spacing between off-ramps and adjacent intersections considering the signal, traffic, and road conditions. The variables affecting the model in this study are effective green time (g/C), volume-capacity ratio (v/c), the number of lanes, and off-ramp volume. Various scenarios are designed to represent the effects of the variables and the road networks are constructed using VISSIM, which is a common traffic micro-simulation software package. The queue length is derived from VISSIM and this length is considered as the recommended spacing between the off-ramp and the adjacent intersection. Through the simulation analysis, regression models are developed to calculate the queue length reflecting the various conditions such as signals, traffic, and road configurations. The developed model can be used to create road design guidelines to determine the location of off-ramps in the planning stage.

  • 합리적인 업무 수행도의 예측을 통해 기업은 기존 업무절차의 평가뿐 아니라 업무 개선방안과 새로운 업무의 설계기준을 제시할 수 있다. 본 연구는 업무효율지표들 중 가장 중요한 요소인 업무절차의 수행시간을 예측하는 모형을 제시한다. 일반적으로 기업의 업무는 예측가능하며 장기적으로 안정된 성격을 가진다. 우리는 이러한 특성을 바탕으로 한 대기행렬 모형을 구축하고 그것을 분석하여 정적인 방식의 업무실행 시 수행시간을 예측하였다. 그리고 모형의 성능을 시뮬레이션 기법을 사용하여 평가하였다.

  • Markovian Service Process(MSP)는 기존의 Markovian Arrival Process(MAP)에서 사용하던 위상 개념을 고객의 서비스 과정에 대응시킨 모형이다. 이는 서버의 상태에 따라 달라질 수 있는 서비스 상태를 위상 변화에 대응시키는 모형이다. 본 논문에서는 대기행렬 모형의 중요한 성능 척도인 고객 수 분포에 관하여 임의시점, 고객 도착 직전 시점, 고객 이탈 직후 시점에서의 관계식을 유도한다.

The binary bootstrap for single simulation output analysis

  • 이 논문에서는 discrete-event모의실험을 사용해서 대기행렬모형에서 대기시간이 길어지는 확률을 추정하는 문제를 연구했습니다. 단 한번의 모의실험에서 확률의 신뢰구간을 구할 수 있는 방법인, binary bootstrap을 개발했습니다. Bernoulli trial과 first-order Markov processes에 적용하여 본 결과 이론치에 별 차이없이 추정하였습니다. 또한 M/M/1 대기행렬모형에서 대기시간이 길 확률을 추정했을 때 batch means방법보다 binary bootstrap이 월등히 우수한 결과를 보였습니다.
