Study on Adaptability of Rice Varieties at Air-Pollution Site (수도품종의 대기오염적응성)

  • Ten recommended rice varieties were cultivated in paddy area affected by air-pollutants and in normal area to select varieties adaptable to air-pollution environment. Rice plants grown in pollution site showed higher contents of total sulfur and fluorine in leaf through the whole growing period compared with those in non-pollution site, and rice leaves destroyed by air-pollutants were found only in pollution site. Rice grain yield and four yield components of ten rice varieties grown in pollution site were lower than those in normal area. Five rice varieties among ten were selected as adaptable to air-pollution environment, based on their yielding potential in pollution site and grain yield ratio between two sites. Rice varieties adaptable to pollution showed little variation of percent ripened grains and number of panicles per hill between two sites. Chlorophyll content in flag leaf of rice plants grown in pollution area was lower than in non-pollution area. No relationship was found between grain yield ratio (pollution/non-pollution site) of ten varieties and total sulfur content ratio, fluorine content ratio, chlorophyll content ratio between two sites, and percent destroyed leaf in pollution site, respectively. This result suggest that varietal adaptability to air-pollution environment is not related with the amount of pollutants absorbed, but with the degree of response to pollutants.

  • 도시지역 대기오염에 의한 건강 위해도 정보는 시민들 삶의 질을 점검하는데 중요하다. 이에 따라 대도시 지역의 여러 오염원들로 부터 배출되는 대기오염물질의 양과 그로 인한 인체 위해도를 시민들이 스마트 폰과 같은 일상적인 통신수단으로 확인할 수 있는 시스템을 설계하고 우리나라 대도시 지역에 적용하는 실험을 하였다. 설계된 시스템에서는 도시 대기로 배출되는 오염물질의 일별 배출량 값들을 산출하고 건강 위해도 인자들을 적용하여 잠재적(potential) 수명 단축 일 수로 정량화한 뒤, 사용자 모델을 통한 적응형 데이터로의 경화량 과정을 거친 후 모바일 기기로 전달되게 된다.

Vulnerability Assessment of the Air Pollution Using Entropy Weights : Focused on Ozone (엔트로피 가중치를 활용한 대기오염 취약성 평가 - 오존을 중심으로 -)

  • Both the selection of indicators and weights for them are critical issues in the vulnerability assessment. This study is to assess the air pollution vulnerability focused on ozone for 249 local jurisdictions using weights calculated by the entropy methodology and then examine the applicability of the methodology. We selected indicators for air pollution vulnerability assessment and standardized them. Subsequently, we calculated weights of each indicator using the entropy method and then integrated them into the vulnerability index. The exposure indicators consider meteorological and air pollution factors and the sensitivity of the local jurisdiction include variables on vulnerable areas and environments. The adaptive capacity contains socio-economic characteristics, health care capacities and air pollution managemental factors. The results show that Hwaseong-si, Gwangjin-gu, Gimpo-si, Gwangju-si, Gunpo-si are among the highest vulnerabilities based on the simple aggregation of indicators. And vulnerability-resilience (VRI) aggregation results indicates the similar spatial pattern with the simple aggregation outcomes. This article extends current climate change vulnerability assessment studies by adopting the entropy method to evaluate relative usefulness of data. In addition, the results can be used for developing customized adaptation policies for each jurisdiction reflecting vulnerable aspects.

  • In this paper a adaptive LMS(least mean-square) lattice predictor, which is composed of the adaptive lattice algorithm and LMS algorithm by Widrow-Hopf, is used to predict the future air pollution of the extraordinary levels in the environmental system. This prediction algorithm is applied to the one-step forward prediction of atmospheric CO concentration by using real observed data. Computer simulation proves that the power in the forward error sequences decreases as the number of stages in the lattice is increased.

  • 과거 50여년간 전산기는 성능과 효율면에서 획기적인 발전을 거듭하여 왔다. 더욱이 최근 20여년간 microcomputer와 PC 분야의 발전으로 저렴한 가격으로 전산자원을 활용할 수 있게 되었다. 그러나, 1개의 CPU로 도달할 수 있는 속도의 한계에 근접함에 따라서, CPU 성능의 향상 속도가 느려지고 있다. 현재 초고성능 전산기로도 많은 시간과 비용이 소요되는 문제가 과학 및 공학 분야에 아직 많이 있는 상황에서 이러한 전산속도 발전의 둔화는 심각한 문제가 되고 있다. (중략)

  • 여름의 폭염, 가뭄, 긴 장마, 가을의 폭우, 겨울의 폭설, 혹한 등등 지구 온난화로 인한 이상(異常) 기후가 어느덧 일상이 되어가고 있다. 후손을 위해 지구를 지킨다는 말보다 당장 지금 세대의 생명과 건강을 지키기 위해서라도 온실가스 감축에 적극 나서야할 형편이다. 이미 배출된, 또 앞으로 배출될 온실가스로 인해 발생하는 기온 상승에 적응하는 일도 게을리 할 수 없다. 기후변화만이 문제가 아니다. 안타깝게도 우리나라는 높은 인구밀도, 산업화 등으로 인해 대기오염도가 OECD 국가 중 최하위 수준이다. 호흡기 질환 등 건강에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 대기질의 개선을 위해 더더욱 노력해야 할 때다.

Post-irradiation Changes in Antioxidant Activity of Spindle Tree Leaves from Different Areas (서식지에 따른 사철나무 잎의 이온화 방사선 조사 후 항산화 활성 변화 차이)

  • As the plants grow in a fixed place, they can be a good indicator which reflects the level of environmental pollution. It is necessary for them to develop a strategy to cope with stress under unfavorable environmental conditions. In this study, spindle trees ($Euonymus$ $japonica$) were collected from a clean area (Kijang) as well as a heavily polluted area (Onsan) to check applicability of irradiation combined with plant bioassay to environmental monitoring. The leaves were irradiated with 0, 50 and 100 Gy of gamma rays, and then evaluated for antioxidative capacity with 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and superoxide dismutase (SOD) analysis. The result shows that there was no significant changes in SOD and EDA (Electron Donationg Ability) in the samples collected from a polluted area. In the meanwhile, SOD increased in the samples from a clean area until 6 to 10 hours after irradiation, then it decreased gradually until 24 hours after irradiation. In conclusion, the plants in the polluted area have developed higher resistance to oxidative stress induced by ionizing radiation than those in the relatively clean area. Irradiation combined with plant bioassay on enzymatic activities and free radical scavenging capacity has proven to be a possible tool for biomonitoring the environmental pollution.

대기오염 저감을 위한 차량연료의 최적연소 시스템 설계

  • 본 논문은 환경공해의 주범인 자동차의 매연을 감소할 수 있는 방법에 대한 연구이다. 자동차 매연의 주요원인은 연료의 불완전 연소와 연료 자체의 특성때문이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 가솔린/경유 차량을 CNG/LPG 차량으로 대체하고 CNG/LPG연료의 특성을 감안하여 연료의 공급과 분사량, 분사시간을 차량 ECU에서 보내지는 신호를 기본데이터로 차량의 가속과 감속 아이들 상태에서 차량을 적응적으로 최적화 할 수 있게 실시간으로 보정데이터를 계산한다. 본 논문의 결과로 기존의 구조변경차량의 출력에서 20%이상, 배기가스 에서 10% 이상의 향상되었다.

  • Particulate matter(PM) is one of the leading causes of lung cancer. Recognizing its considerable risk to human health, people change their behaviors when a concentration level of PM is high. The impact of particulate matter on urban activities may vary depending on the lasting days of PM and PM matter alerts. In addition, the level of averting behavior may vary depending on the types and physical characteristics of urban activities and the degree of vulnerability to PM among people. Although the way people respond to PM may vary depending on these various factors, previous research evidence on this is very insufficient. Therefore, this study multilaterally analyzed the impact of PM on the urban activities in Jongno-gu, one of the CBD areas of Seoul. For this, we linked SKT's mobile phone signal data to land use data to extract the daily number of active people by urban activity types and ages. According to multiple regression analysis, the averting behavior varies depending on the type of urban activity, the physical characteristics of the place of activity(inside and outdoor), the lasting days of PM, PM alerts and the age of people. The results of this study can be used as basic data to policy makers who establish policies for adapting to air pollution policies by providing various effects of PM on the urban activities.

  • 1980년대부터 본격적으로 제기된 대기 환경 오염 문제로 인해서 CFCs 및 HCFCs계 냉매에 대한 대체 연구가 활발히 진행되었는데, 이와 관련한 열교환기의 고성능화, 콤팩트화 등에 관한 연구도 광범위하게 이루어지고 있다. 이중에서 특기할만 한 것은 종래의 전열관보다 관경이 대단히 적은 세관을 적용하는 경우가 있으며, 그 적응 범위도 점점 더 넓어질 전망이다. 이것은 유효전열 면적의 극대화, 난류효과의 상승, 가공성기 향상, 유연성 등 세관만이 가질 수 있는 여러 가지 전열 성능상의 장점 때문이라 생각한다.
