This study was a descriptive study to investigate factors affecting quality of life in the Korean elders with diabetes mellitus. A secondary data analysis was conducted using the data of "The Fourth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2008." The survey included 9774 adults aged over 64 years with diabetes mellitus and 226 samples were used for this study. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 12.0 program and descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regression analyses were performed. Correlation analysis showed that quality of life was associated with the amount of alcohol intake, the level of stress awareness, walking time, and suicidal thoughts. The amount of alcohol intake, the level of stress awareness, walking time, and suicidal thoughts accounted for 34.5% of quality of life. These findings suggest that nursing researchers need to consider age, suicidal thoughts, and drinking as important factors affecting quality of life of Korean elders with diabetes mellitus and nursing intervention focusing on the issues needs to be developed.

The purpose of this study was to identify nurses' communication style and the extent of their health literacy and to discern the impact of nurses' communication and health literacy on self-care behaviors, as perceived by elderly diabetic patients in comprehensive nursing-care service wards. This study provides basic data for establishing an efficient nursing-care service-system environment through high-quality self-management. The measurement and improvement of an accurate health literacy level of elderly diabetic patients is an important intervention method to increase the self-care behavior of patients. Therefore, by developing a distinguished nursing intervention plan, early treatment of diabetic patients and quality of care may be possible.

Recently, the Diabetes Mellitus is the major cause of death in Korea. According to the results of v 2011, 34% of adult(over 19 years) are diagnosed as a DM and 21.5% of the aging(over 65 years) are also DM. So in this study, we find out the status of DM prevalence among old people and related factors. Using the results, we will suggest several ways to prevent DM. We use Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(2006, version1.2)that those diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus. We carried out X2 test and Binary Logistic Regression by IBM SPSS 19. 65~79 ages (p=0.006, OR=1.482), Urban people (p=0.008, OR=1.366), People diagnosed with Hypertension (p<0.001, OR=1.237), have high probability of Diabetes Mellitus. However, Subjective health condition(good) (p=0.005, OR=0.648), Subjective health condition(normal) (p<0.001, OR=0.335), and People diagnosed with Chronic lung disease (p=0.002, OR=0.778) have low probability of diabetes. Based on the study results, politic proposals were disccused.

소아당뇨 자녀의 사고적, 행동적 특성을 이해해야 하며 문제가 되는 행동과 주변의 환경을 수시로 확인하고 그 원인이 당뇨병으로 인한 것인지 체크해야 한다. 보호자가 먼저 긍정적인 사고로 환자를 대해야 하며, 당뇨관리에 대한 부분을 제외하고서는 일상과 동일하게 생활할 수 있게끔 부담없는 환경을 만들어 주어야 한다.

고삼투압성 혼수를 예방하기 위해서는 아무리 심하지 않은 당뇨병 환자라도 규칙적으로 혈당검사를 하면서 당뇨를 관리하여야 하며, 의식이 없거나 혼탁한 상태로 병원이나 수용시설에 수용되어 있는 환자, 혹은 거동이 불편한 노인일 경우는 꼭 당뇨병에 대한 검진을 시행해야 하며, 감염 증상이 있을 때는 빨리 치료해야 하고 독감예방접종을 하는 것이 필요하다.

소아 당뇨병은 성인 당뇨병의 축소판이 아니며 성장과 발육을 고려하여야 하고 성장에 따른 지속적인 추구관리가 이루어져야 한다는 점이 중요하다. 또한 아동들의 식욕을 조절하며 간식과 외식, 추가 운동, 여행, 생일 파티 참석 등 발생될 수 있는 특별한 경우에는 상황에 맞춰 혈당조절을 해야 한다.
