We propose a network node search scheme to address the network fragmentation due to high node mobility in the VANET. VANET is very similar to MANET in that a multi-hop ad-hoc network is configured by wireless communication between vehicles without any network infrastructure. However, high speed mobility, high node density, and frequent topology change induce frequent network fragmentation so that overall network traffic can be increased. In this paper, new broadcasting protocol called an adaptive relay node search protocol is proposed to decrease the network fragmentation. It reduces the network fragmentation and network traffic by researching nodes outside the dangerous area only in case of network fragmentation. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol decreases network fragmentation by up to 39.9% and increase informed rate by up to 41.9% compared to the existing broadcasting protocol.

Recently, Expectation Area-based Real-time Routing (EAR2) protocol has been proposed to support real-time routing in wireless sensor networks. EAR2 considers the expectation area of a mobile sink and uses flooding within the expectation area. However, flooding leads to excessive energy consumption and causes long delay against real-time routing. Moreover, since EAR2 uses single path to the expectation area, it is difficult to support reliable routing in sensor networks with high link failures. Thus, to overcome these limitation of EAR2, this paper proposes a reliable and real-time routing protocol based on virtual grids and multipath for mobile sinks. To support real-time routing, the proposed protocol considers expectation grids belonged to the expectation area. Instead of flooding within the expectation area, the proposed protocol uses multicasting to the expectation grids and single hop forwarding in an expectation grid because the multicasting can save much energy and the single hop forwarding can provide short delay. Also, the proposed protocol uses multipath to the expectation grids to deal with link failures for supporting reliable routing. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol is superior to the existing protocols.

Wireless mesh networks contain multi-hop routing protocols between wireless nodes and are connected to the Internet through a gateway. These networks perform a role as a backbone and are scalable for main applications. We propose the design of QoS supporting mechanisms for wireless mesh networks using software defined networking. Our proposed scheme is cost-effective and features adaptive QoS mechanisms for wireless router's resource constraints. The QoS mechanisms use software defined networking technology with Openflow protocol based on diffserv and intserv models with MPLS mechanism and RSVP respectively. A performance evaluation model is suggested to verify the validity of the proposed scheme using several QoSmetrics of the wireless mesh networks.

Most of the energy efficient MAC protocols for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are based on duty cycling in a single channel and show competitive performances in a small number of traffic flows; however, under concurrent multiple flows, they result in significant performance degradation due to contention and collision. We propose a multi-channel pipelining (MCP) method for convergecast WSN in order to address these problems. In MCP, a staggered dynamic phase shift (SDPS) algorithms devised to minimize end-to-end latency by dynamically staggering wake-up schedule of nodes on a multi-hop path. Also, a phase-locking identification (PLI) algorithm is proposed to optimize energy efficiency. Based on these algorithms, multiple flows can be dynamically pipelined in one of multiple channels and successively handled by sink switched to each channel. We present an analytical model to compute the duty cycle and the latency of MCP and validate the model by simulation. Simulation evaluation shows that our proposal is superior to existing protocols: X-MAC and DPS-MAC in terms of duty cycle, end-to-end latency, delivery ratio, and aggregate throughput.
In an infrastructure-based wireless network, an access point is used for all communications among mobile devices. However, when a mobile device moves into a dead Bone, a connectivity disruption between the mobile device and the access point occurs. Such connectivity disruption consequently leads to another connectivity disruption between the mobile device moving toward the dead zone and other wireless-enabled devices located within the area of the infrastructure-based wireless network. To cope with the connectivity disruption in the infrastructure-based wireless network the ad hoc network that dynamically forms a network without any preexisting communication infrastructure needs to be set up to provide seamless connections among mobile devices. In this paper, we propose the DNSQ-MAC (Dynamic Network State aware QoS-Medium Access Control) technique that meets the deadlines of MAC frames forwarded over hop-by-hop multipaths and guarantees the QoS performance of an ad hoc-based wireless network. Mobile devices incorporating the DNSQ-MAC technique are capable of adjusting to the new dynamic network status in order to enhance the QoS performance in the ad hoc-based wireless network. A case study which exploits the Qualnet simulator shows that the proposed DNSQ-MAC technique can guarantee the deadlines of MAC frames forwarded over hop-by-hop multipaths and enhance the QoS performance of various routing protocols and packet schedulers running on the network layer above the MAC layer.

Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) refer to autonomous networks in which wireless data communications are established between multiple nodes in a given coverage area without a base station or centralized administration. Because of node mobility and limited battery life, the network topology may changes frequently. Selecting the most reliable path during route discovery process is important to improve performance in ad hoc networks. In this paper, an enhanced routing protocol based on AODV(Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) by monitoring variation of receiving signal strength is proposed. New metric function that consists of node mobility and hops of path is used for routing decision. For preventing route failure by node movement during data transmission, a new route maintenance named as LRC (Local Route Change) is presented. If the node movement is detected, the routing agent switches path to its neighbor node in LRC. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed routing scheme is superior to previous AODY protocol.
IoT technology that utilizes wireless body area networks (WBAN) and biosensors is an important field in the health industry to minimize resources and monitor patients. In order to integrate IoT and WBAN, a cooperative protocol that constitutes WBAN's limited sensor nodes and rapid routing for efficient data transmission is required. In this paper we propose an we propose an energy efficient and cooperative link energy-efficient routing strategy(LEERS) to solve the problems of redundant data transmission detection and limited network sensor lifetime extention. The proposed scheme considers the hop count node congestion level towards the residual energy sink and bandwidth and parameters. In addition, by determining the path cost function and providing effective multi-hop routing, it is shown that the existing method is improved in terms of residual energy and throughput

In the IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), network nodes experiencing collisions on the shared channel need to backoff for a random period of time. which is uniformly selected from the Contention Window (CW) This contention window is dynamically controlled by the Binary Exponential Backoff (BEB) algorithm. The BEB scheme suffers from a unfairness problem and low throughput under high traffic load. In this paper, I propose a new backoff algorithm for use with the IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function.

With the Development of Wireless Network Technology and Wireless Link Technology, Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is Attracting Attention as a Key Technology to Construct the Wireless Transit Network. The WMN has been Studied for a Long Time in Various Fields, however there are still many Problems that have not been solved yet. One of them is the Routing Problem to find an Optimal path in a Multi-hop Network Composed of Wireless Links. In the Hybrid-WMN, which is one of the Three Types of WMN, Optimal Path Selection Requires Research on Path Search Protocols that Effectively use the Infrastructure Mesh as a Transit Network, Together with Research for a Routing Metric with Excellent Performance. Therefore, this Paper Proposes a Dual Mode-AODV(Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector) for Hybrid-WMN. Simulation result shows that the Path Selection Delay was Reduced by 52% than AODV when the Proposed Dual Mode-AODV was applied.

Previous research on sensor networks mainly focused on efficient transmission of data from sensors to fixed sink nodes. Recently there has been active research on mobile sink nodes, but the re-search of an environment where both fixed sink nodes and mobile sinks are present at the same time is rather scarce. This paper proposes a technique for context gathering by mobile devices with the sink functionality added through fixed sinks under a previously built, cluster based multi hop sensor network environment. To this end, clustering of mobile devices were done based on the fixed sinks of a previously built sensor network, and by using appropriate fixed sinks, context gathering was made possible. By mathematical comparison with TTDD routing protocol, which was proposed for mobile sinks, it was conformed that performance increases in energy with the number of mobile sinks, and with the number of movements by mobile devices.
