The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of multicultural education for pre-childhood educators in Korean and Chinese, and to explore the direction of multicultural education. The subjects of this study were Korean and Chinese college students enrolled in the Department of Early Childhood Education, and the t-test and chi-square test were conducted on the questionnaire. The results of the study were as follows: First, there was no significant difference in the two groups' interests in multiculturalism and their perceptions of multicultural children and their families, but there were some differences. Overall, Korean students were positive about multicultural children and families. Second, there was no significant difference between the two groups in the recognition of the necessity of multicultural education, but Korean students were more positive. Third, the need for multicultural education did not differ between the two groups. Through this study, it was found that in order to revitalize multicultural education, it should be made in the direction of improving multicultural efficacy with practice-oriented education rather than theory-based education.

전국에 1,000여개의 다문화 기관들이 활동 중이다. 그중 정부주도형인 여성가족부 지정 다문화가족지원센터 210여 곳을 제외한 나머지 기관들은 대부분 정부 민간 혼합형이거나 민간주도형 기관들이다. 정부주도형 기관들은 중앙정부와 지방자치단체로부터 운영비가 지원되지만 정부 민간 혼합형이나 민간주도형 기관들은 운영비를 기부금 또는 후원금에 의존한다. 그러나 경제위기의 도래로 기부금이나 후원금이 급감하는 상황에서 정부 민간 혼합형이나 민간주도형 기관들의 자립은 더욱더 어려워질 전망이다. 이러한 전망과는 달리, 지원 대상들과 다문화이슈는 지금보다 훨씬 더 늘어날 전망이다. 국내 이주민의 수는 매년 증가추세이다. 향후 2050년이 되면 전체인구의 10%가 외국인이라는 전망도 나온다. 외국인의 정주화 그리고 가족이민 증가에 따른 상이한 종교와 문화에 대한 편견 없는 이해와 대화가 강조될 것이며, 학교교육정책, 직업양성, 노동시장정책, 동등한 노동조건과 사회보장 요구, 사회적 차별에 대한 계몽정책 등 다양한 다문화 이슈도 부각될 것이다. 이처럼 다양한 분야에서 다문화 이슈를 가장 잘 다룰 수 있는 민간주도형 다문화기관의 자립 여부는 다문화 지원정책의 성패와도 연결된다고 볼 수 있다. 결국 민간주도형 다문화기관이 지금의 운영구조를 개선하고 재정적 자립을 확보하기 위해서는 다문화 관련 비즈니스모델 개발을 통해 다문화 기관들이 스스로 자립할 수 있는 사회적기업에 관심을 가질 수밖에 없다. 사천다문화통합지원센터는 비영리민간단체로 지난 13년 동안 창조적인 다문화 사업들을 추진하여 괄목할만한 성과를 거두었다. 그러나 일반 기부금이나 후원금으로 운영비를 충당하고 있는 상황에서 자립 기반 구축을 위한 비즈니스 모델 개발은 필수적이었다. 마침내 요리조리아시아 협동조합을 만들어 청소년 공정여행 프로그램인 세계로여행학교와 아열대채소 농장을 운영중에 있다. 뿐만 아니라 기업의 CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) 해외공헌사업도 위탁받아 운영하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 사천다문화통합지원센터가 그동안 진행해 온 청소년 공정여행과 아열대채소 농장을 다문화기관의 비즈니스 모델적 측면에서 사례 분석한 후, 벤치마킹을 통해 민간주도형 다문화기관들로 확대시킴으로써 사회혁신의 기회를 증대시킬 방안을 제시하였다.

This study aims to discuss cataloging on multicultural collection in Korean libraries. Especially, this study emphasized to derive a lesson of immeasurable value from the cataloging experience in International Children's Library at Asia School. To the end, (1) comprehensive literature survey and analysis were conducted to introduce the discussion on cataloging for multicultural or multilingual collection, (2) the cataloging examples were examined comprehensively (the data needed were collected by public, academic and nonofficial libraries in Korea, as well as several libraries in North America), and finally (3) cataloging policy and practices for multicultural collection were suggested on the basis of the experience in International Children's Library at Asia School.

This study aims to investigate the perception of public library users, who are local residences, on the multi-cultural services in public libraries using a series of statistical analyses on a questionnaire survey. The objectives of multi-cultural policies by Korean government are to foster assimilation of the multi-cultural people, social unification of Korean (local) communities, and cultural diversity in the communities. The results from the analyses show that the multi-cultural services in public libraries are understood from the unification and assimilation point of views, and that the perception of the multi-cultural services in public libraries is affected by the libraries' marketing activities, such as advertisements and participation. For the sustainable provision of the services, we suggest that the libraries would better consider 1) multi-oriented services with cultural diversity, assimilation, and social unification, 2) relationship with other multi-cultural agencies in a community, and 3) the perception of local residences on the services in public libraries.

The research aims to develop the courses for librarians' continuing education to build up multicultural competencies in library services. In order to achieve the purpose, the study designed the research processes as followings: first, multicultural environment analyses with various materials such as statistics or national reports; second, librarians' and multicultural users' needs analyses of multicultural library services and library works; third, job competency analyses through reviewing related laws, rules, guidelines for library multicultural services, etc. On the basis of the results from the three-step analysis phases, the study deducted the candidate courses for librarians' multicultural education. After testing validity of the candidate courses by expert panels on library multicultural services, the research suggested the final 16 courses and follow-up research projects for designing and implementing the suggested courses in real class fields.

The study was aimed to find out whether there are differences in perception toward multicultural youth's career problems according to the four stages of life cycle(adolescence, pre-marriage, family formation child rearing), and multicultural families and non-multicultural respondents. Also is was aimed to find out if there is an interactive effect on problem recognition. A nationwide survey was conducted using questionnaire on the perception of multicultural youth careers and a total of 1,338 responses were used for the final analysis. For the research purpose, a two-way MANOVA was performed. First it was found that multicultural family members had higher negative perceptions of multicultural appearances than non-multicultural family members had and the adolescents had relatively low negative perceptions of personal relationships and social life adaptation of multicultural youth. Also, as a result of examining whether there is an interaction effect on perception of career problems of multicultural adolescents between multicultural families and their life cycle stages, interaction effects existed in all aspects of family environment, career activities, education, and institutions. It has been shown that there are differences in the perception of career issues among members of multicultural families or among non-cultural families.

The purpose of this study was to identify the moderated effects of multicultural contact experience on the relationship between social distance and multicultural acceptability among nursing students. The sample for this study consisted of 174 nursing students from four universities located in Korea. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation and hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0. It was found that: (a) multicultural acceptability had a negative correlation with social distance(r=-.61, p<.001), whereas a positive correlation was observed with experience of multicultural contact(r=.24, p=.002); (b) the interaction effect by multicultural contact experience and social distance had a significant influence on the multicultural acceptability(${\beta}=-.18$, p=.003); (c) experience of multicultural contact moderated the relationship between social distance and multicultural acceptability(${\Delta}R^2=0.30$, p=.003). Results of the study suggest that the greater the experience of multicultural contact, the greater the negative effect of social distance on multicultural acceptability. Therefore, to increase the multicultural acceptability of nursing students, it is important to encourage the positive experiences of multicultural contact and thus reduce social distance.

The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of the multicultural competence of the daycare center directors on their organizational effectiveness. A total of 359 child-care center directors studying at C university in Seoul were randomly selected and interviewed. The study results were as follows: a) with respect to job-satisfaction, multicultural skill had a positive influence, multicultural knowledge had a negative influence, and multicultural perception and attitude had no significant influence on job satisfaction; b) with respect to organizational adaptation, multicultural perception and attitude and multicultural skill had positive influences, but multicultural knowledge found to have a negative influence; c) with respective to organizational commitment, multicultural perception and attitude and multicultural skill had positive influences, but multicultural knowledge had no significant influence. The results implicate the fact that there need to be more practical programs for child-care center directors in which they can facilitate their multicultural perceptions, attitudes and develop practical skills.

This study examines current practices of the multicultural services in public library and offers directions for improvement in the multicultural society. For this, this study is set up the list of the multicultural services on the basis of the plans and the announcements about multicultural services of an international organization. Moreover, researchers analysed the multicultural services of Incheon Jungang Library. The results of this study are as follows. They proposed the improvement of the multicultural services of a public library as the changes of cognition of the multicultural services, training for professional manpower, program for intercultural understanding, accessibility to information, etc.

The study aims at presenting the development and management strategies of programs and services for multicultural families in libraries. The study proposed the principles and directions for the multicultural services which fit into certain types of libraries. The study also stated that principles and directions of these services should be adopted under a national initiative framework. The study examined multicultural services in domestic libraries. The study analyzed them by patterns, and described service programs that were exemplary. The study intended to aid in finding the appropriate management strategies for muticultural services in Korean libraries in the future.
