The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of bias and the multicultural attitude of elementary schoolchildren on the multicultural efficacy and to seek for the right direction of multicultural education in elementary school. To attain this purpose, this study asked 416 elementary schoolchildren to questions in Jeonbuk Province. The results are as follows. First, there is a significant difference on bias, multicultural attitude, and efficacy to gender and grade. Second, there is a meaningful correlation among bias, multicultural attitude, and multicultural efficacy. Third, the elementary schoolchildren's bias has a significant influence on the multicultural attitude and efficacy. Fourth, the elementary schoolchildren's multicultural attitude exercises a meaningful effect on the multicultural efficacy. According to this survey, a variety of multicultural programs for the elementary schoolchildren are needed to develop and apply in substance at the level of their eyes. In addition to that, a diversity of studies are needed constantly for making the elementary schoolchildren get some positive understanding on various cultures.

The purpose of this study is to develop the prevention program of child abuse and to verify the effects of the program for marriage immigrant women in Korea. The prevention program was consist of 5 sessions and it was provided to participants once a week for five weeks. Participants were recruited thru the community centers for multi-cultural families in Korea. This study verified the effects of the prevention program with the comparison groups(pre-post). With the independent-samples t-test and paired-samples t-test, the program verified significant effects on the variables of acculturation stress, social support, and recognition of social policy. This study suggests the parenting education of child abuse for multi-cultural families in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a dietary education program to improve the caring ability and multicultural acceptance of middle school students. Based on the instructional system design of ADDIE model, the dietary education program was developed to contain five sessions including four theoretical lectures and one lab session. Visual thinking technique was used to train students to express their thoughts and emotion by writing and drawing. The dietary education program was conducted for four weeks (from November 19 to December 14, 2018) at a middle school located in Seoul on a total of 69 middle school students, out of which 34 were assigned to an experimental group and 35 were assigned to a control group. Separate paired t-test were conducted for the experimental group and the control group, respectively, to determine the changes in caring ability and multicultural acceptance scores before and after the dietary education. There were significant increases in caring ability (dietary-, emotional-, behavioral- and cognitive caring) and multicultural acceptance (diversity, relationship and universality) scores among the experimental group after the dietary program. However, no differences were observed among the control group. The results indicate that the dietary education program can be an effective tool to improve caring ability and multicultural acceptance of middle school students.

This study aims to testify the effect of reading and writing abilities improvement program for elementary school children from multicultural families. Methods: The research design used in this study was a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest research design. The participants were divided into two groups, an experimental group(n=9) and a control group(n=8). Data were analysed by using Mann-Whinety U test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks, Cohen's d with SPSS(PASW)18.0 program. Result: Significant differences were found in scores for reading ability (z=-2.668, p=.008, ES(d)=0.6) and writing ability (z=-2.670, p=.008, ES(d)=0.5) in experimental group. Conclusion: The results indicate that the reading and writing abilities improvement program should be used with elementary school children of multicultural families to help them and to improve their reading and writing abilities.

The diversification of Korean society with a large influx of migrant workers, international marriages, and international students calls for an attention to the importance of cultural competence of Library and Information Science sector in order to respond effectively and appropriately to the needs of immigrants who have diverse cultural backgrounds. In regard to these circumstances, this study is designed to develop the components of cultural competency needed by librarians. For this, this study collected its data through literatures review and interviews with librarians who are implementing services for immigrants in multicultural libraries and with experts who have experienced researches based multicultural services or involved with the management of multicultural families and migrant workers. As a result, the cultural competency components emerging from literatures review and interviews were divided into three parts ; multicultural attitude, multicultural knowledge and multicultural skills. And detailed components of three parts of cultural competency were specifically multicultural attitude, knowledge of multicultural groups, knowledge of multicultural services, development of collections, programs, and services, service delivery, language diversity, and professional education and workforce diversity.

This study is to examine how activities using local multi -cultural resources and world geography lessons using the CCAP(Cross-Cultural Awareness Programme) affect students' multi-cultural understanding. Activities using local multi-cultural resources were carried by visiting in an alien worker community, volunteering in multicultural center, attending on UNESCO ASP(Associated School Program), and making radio broadcasting program associated with 'SCN FM' which is a local broadcasting station on the weekend. And world geography lessons using the CCAP were conducted with 5 classes including orientation by inviting foreign instructors from that place after reconstructing the Southeast and South Asia unit of the countries such as Pakistan, the Philippines, Myanmar and Cambodia. According to twice questionnaire survey conducted before and after activities using local multi-cultural resources and world geography lessons using the CCAP, it appeared that students had familiarity more than before through direct meeting with foreigners inside and outside classroom, and understood and respected other cultures by acquiring contextual regional knowledge. In the end, multi-cultural activities and world geography lessons using the CCAP contributed to students' global citizenship, which overcame prejudice toward third world cultures. Like that, if world geography classes provide continually students with opportunities to experience directly diverse cultures inside and outside classroom, world geography overcome negative image that it transmit decontextual regional knowledge and is regarded as the subject that is very fit for nurturing global citizenship based on contextual knowledge, consideration and tolerance needed in global and multi-cultural society.

The purpose of this study was to establish core elements required for the implementation of multicultural library services, to analyze the features of each element, and to develop a model of effective multicultural library services. This model was aimed to improve multicultural services and programs currently managed on a short-term basis by public libraries in Korea and help those libraries develop more systematic and long-term multicultural services. To proceed with this study, the literature review, a case study and a survey(the exploratory factor analysis, T-test and ANOVA analysis) were conducted. In this study, it is found that more effective operation of multicultural services in public libraries requires cooperation and integration with not only other libraries and related social and educational institutions in a community, but also international network. Based on this idea, the model of operating multicultural services in public libraries in Korea was proposed in this study.

The purposes of the study are to understand how multicultural efficacy is different and to affecting the multicultural efficacy. To achieve the goals, the study conducted surveys to examine an interrelation of multicultural efficacy on 272 elementary school students in Namyangju-si with questionnaires. First, the results showed that multicultural efficacy of elementary school students scored 2.84 on five point scale. Second, the elements that affected multicultural efficacy of elementary school students include 'openness', 'acceptance', 'respect' of elementary school student toward multiculture awareness, at the same time, elementary students' indirect experience of multiculture and direct experience also make significant influence. The study suggests to develop multiculture-related educational programs, in order to enhance multicultural efficacy and multicultural awareness of elementary students.

This study analyzed the story of 'Good Morning, Ladies of the World', a multicultural program of a community radio Gwanak FM. Furthermore, the study performed an in-depth interview on Korean producing staffs and migrant casts in order to figure out the contents for the improvement of awareness and for the design of multicultural media story telling. As a result, the migrant women presented overall public discourses on their own culture, climate and customs as a sense of representative. While Korean staffs wanted to understand and communicate with their culture and to share private experiences, migrant women wished understanding and respect to their culture and removal of discrimination or prejudice. Accordingly, the storytelling design for the improvement of multicultural awareness must be a private discourse on the basis of a public discourse, and it turned out that the user of a mediator who experienced and knew culture of Korea and the migrant is necessary. And, this study recommended the need of education of migrant women and media support for a proper story planning, structuring and delivery.

In the 21th century, world citizens have more chances to meet and interact with people from different cultural or ethnic backgrounds than ever before. It is therefore inevitable that multiculturalism has become one of the integral part of music education. Educators in every field should make conscious efforts to provide opportunities and experiences for students so that they can adequately cope with these culturally diverse encounters. This study is to grasp the current state of multicultural education in the teacher education program in Korea and America. Also it is aimed to figure out the current multicultural music course offerings available for undergraduate music education majors at the selected 10 American Universities. It is expected that this study may suggest an idea of multicultural-world music education in teacher education.
