Blade Design Optimization for 5MW HAWT Considering Wind Environment on Domestic West-South Coast (국내 서남해안 풍황을 고려한 5MW급 수평축 풍력터빈 블레이드의 최적설계)

  • 본 연구에서는 5MW급 수평축 풍력터빈 블레이드에 대해 국내 서남해안의 풍속특성을 고려한 최적설계를 수행 하였다. 최적설계를 수행하기 위해 블레이드 해석은 Blade Element and Momentum Theory를 이용 하였으며, 설계 시 적용된 기저형상은 NREL에서 제안한 5MW급 풍력터빈 블레이드을 선정하였다. 최적설계를 수행하기 전 설계에 사용된 설계변수들이 풍속에 대해 어떠한 경향을 가지고 있는지 알아보기 위해 Parametric Study를 수행 하였으며, 최적설계는 다목적 최적화 유전 알고리즘인 NSGA-II를 이용하여 평균풍속이 낮은 서남해안의 연간에너지 생산량과 설비이용률을 최대화하였다. 최적화 결과들로부터 설계 조건에 맞는 최적해를 도출 할 수 있었으며, 이를 통해 기저형상의 연간에너지 생산량 및 설비이용률을 보다 향상 시킬 수 있었다.

  • 상수관망시스템은 정수장으로부터 각 수요처에 음용수를 공급하기 위한 사회기반시설물이며, 광범위한 지역에 걸쳐 주로 지하에 시설물이 매설되어 있다. 상수관망시스템을 설계하고 운영함에 있어 노후화로 인한 유수율 저하, 갑작스런 수요량의 증가, 관로 파손 등 비정상상황에의 용수공급을 항상 대비하여야 하며, 이를 통한 지속적인 관리와 개량이 필요하다. 상수관망시스템에서 발생할 수 있는 다양한 비정상상황들 중 상수관망시스템 내 관로가 파손될 경우, 파손 관로의 보수 혹은 교체를 위해서는 해당 관로의 용수흐름을 일시적으로 차단할 필요가 있다. 이 과정에서 파손관로와 인접한 밸브를 차폐하게 되며, 이로 인해 용수공급이 중단되는 단수구역이 발생하게 된다. 단수구역은 파손 관로를 차폐함으로써 파손 관로와 함께 용수공급이 차단되는 직접고립지역과 직접고립지역으로 인해 의도치 않게 수원으로부터 물 공급이 차단되는 간접고립지역으로 구분할 수 있다. 따라서, 관 파손에 의한 단수용량을 정확히 산정하기 위해서는 시스템 내 설치된 밸브의 개수와 위치에 따른 직, 간접고립지역(단수구역)을 정확하게 산정할 필요가 있다. Jun and Loganathan(2007)은 단수구역을 직접고립지역과 간접고립지역으로 구분하여 정의하고 각각을 탐색하는 알고리즘을 제시한 바 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 제시한 간접고립지역 탐색 방법의 문제점을 파악하고, 이를 개선한 새로운 알고리즘을 제안 및 검증하였다. 또한, 개선된 알고리즘을 이용하여 상수관망시스템 내 최적 밸브위치를 결정하기 위해 단수용량과 밸브설치비용을 동시에 최소화하는 다목적 최적화 모형을 개발하였으며, 예시 관망을 이용하여 모의를 수행하고 결과를 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, the application of fuzzy decision to optimization of induction motor design is proposed. This method can reflect the designer's experience, view, and judgment, but also can be applied to multi-objective optimization design easily. The electromagnetic performance of the induction motor are calculated by means of the equivalent magnetic circuit method. The design method is The $D^2L$ method which is combined with fuzzy decision and optimization algorithm. As the optimization algorithm, the evolution strategy(ES) is applied. The proposed algorithm is applied to a multiobjective optimization of an induction motor design where the motor should have less weight and, at the same time, have higher efficiency and power factor at rated operating points.

  • Error correcting codes (ECCs) are commonly used to protect against the soft errors. Single error correcting and double error detecting (SEC-DED) codes are generally used for this purpose. The proposed approach in this paper selectively reduced power consumption, delay, and area in single-error correcting, double error-detecting checker circuits that perform memory error correction. The multi-objective genetic algorithm is employed to solve the non -linear optimization problem. The proposed method allows that user can choose one of different non-dominated solutions depending on which consideration is important among them. Because we use multi-objective genetic algorithm, we can find various dominated solutions. Therefore, we can choose the ECC according to the important factor of the power, delay and area. The method is applied to odd-column weight Hsiao code which is well- known ECC code and experiments were performed to show the performance of the proposed method.

A study on the optimal design of rope way (索道線路의 最適設計에 대한 硏究)

  • As an attempt to make the multi-objection for the line design of the rope way, the resulted formulas from the catenary curve as exact ones were summarized, and it was found out that the Kuhn-Tucker's optimality conditions and regions of the objective functions can analytically be expressed with dimensionless parameters. The Pareto's optimum solution set was analytically obtained through the objective function-the minimum relation of $W^{*}$, and $W^{*}$ is a trade-off relation. From this, The dimension of a rope and the value of an initial tension that are the standard in design of the rope way were determined. It was concluded that $V^{*}$ should become minimum, and that the ratio of the dimension of rope to the value of and initial tension become larger than superposition factor corresponding to curve AB.to curve AB.

  • 구조설계 과정에서 설계대안을 효율적으로 생성하여 평가하면서, 특히 다목적 환경 속에서 최적구조의 위상과 부재의 치수까지 동시에 결정할 수 있는 새로운 방식을 제시하고자 한다. 설계자가 설계대안을 생성하기 위해 설계자의 경험과 노하우를 체계적으로 구축해 놓고 이를 적절한 시기에 활용할 수 있게 하는 방법으로는 인공지능 기술의 하나인 사례기반 추론 기법을 사용하였다. 이와 더불어, 설계대안들 간의 효율적인 비교와 평가를 위해서 구조물의 계층적인 면을 고려한 새로운 유전적인 표현법을 개발하였다. 여기에 기존의 유전적 표현법을 변경시켜 생긴 여분의 효과와 계층적인 특징을 가지는 Structured Genetic Algorithm(StrGA)를 변형시켜서 사례기반 추론에 의해 생성된 설계대안들을 표현하였다. 일반적인 구조설계 과정에서는 구조물을 평가하는 기준이 여러 개가 존재하므로, 모든 대안들을 동시에 최적화 하는 과정에 Multicriteria Optimization for Genetic Algorithm(MOGA)를 병합하였다. 본 논문에서는 인공지능 기술을 이용하여 구조물의 위상설계를 할 수 있는 새로운 방법을 제안하여 그 유용성을 truss 설계문제에 대해 검토하였다.

Feasibility Study of Hierarchical Kriging Model in the Design Optimization Process (계층적 크리깅 모델을 이용한 설계 최적화 기법의 유용성 검증)

  • On the optimization design problem using surrogate model, it requires considerable number of sampling points to construct a surrogate model which retains the accuracy. As an alternative to reduce construction cost of the surrogate model, Variable-Fidelity Modeling(VFM) technique, where correct high fidelity model based on the low fidelity surrogate model is introduced. In this study, hierarchical kriging model for variable-fidelity surrogate modeling is used and an optimization framework with multi-objective genetic algorithm(MOGA) is presented. To prove the feasibility of this framework, airfoil design optimization process is performed for the transonic region. The parameters of PARSEC are used to design variables and the optimization process is performed in case of varying number of grid and varying fidelity. The results showed that pareto front of all variable-fidelity models are similar with its single-level of fidelity model and calculation time is considerably reduced. Based on computational results, it is shown that VFM is a more efficient way and has an accuracy as high as that single-level of fidelity model optimization.

  • In this paper, we propose a optimization approach for the Electric Locomotive Overhaul Maintenance Facility (ELOMF), which aims at the simulation optimization so as to meet the design specification. In simulation design, we consider the critical path and sensitivity analysis of the critical (dependent) factors and the design (independent) parameters for the parameter selection and reduction of the metamodel. Therefore, we construct the multi-objective non-linear programming. The objective function is normalized for the generalization of design parameter while the constraints are composed of the simulation-based regression metamodel for the critical factors and design factor's domain. Then the effective solution procedure based on the pareto optimal solution set is proposed. This approach provides a comprehensive approach for the optimization of Train Overhaul Maintenance Facility(TOMF)'s design parameters using the simulation and metamoels.

  • The vibration control performance of a semi-active damper connected to adjacent buildings subjected to seismic loads was investigated. The MR damper was used as a semi-active control device. A fuzzy logic control algorithm was used for effective control of the adjacent buildings connected to the MR damper. In the buildings control coupled with a MR damper, the response reduction of one building results in an increase in the response in another building. Because of these conflict characteristics, multi-objective optimization is required. Therefore, a fuzzy logic control algorithm for the control of a MR damper was optimized using a multi-objective genetic algorithm. Based on numerical analyses, the semi-active fuzzy control of MR damper for adjacent coupled buildings can provide good control performance.

Member Sizing Optimization for Seismic Design of the Inverted V-braced Steel Frames with Suspended Zipper Strut (Zipper를 가진 역V형 가새골조의 다목적 최적내진설계기법)

  • Seismic design of braced frames that simultaneously considers economic issues and structural performance represents a rather complicated engineering problem, and therefore, a systematic and well-established methodology is needed. This study proposes a multi-objective seismic design method for an inverted V-braced frame with suspended zipper struts that uses the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II(NSGA-II). The structural weight and the maximum inter-story drift ratio as the objective functions are simultaneously minimized to optimize the cost and seismic performance of the structure. To investigate which of strength- and performance-based design criteria for braced frames is the critical design condition, the constraint conditions on the two design methods are simultaneously considered (i.e. the constraint conditions based on the strength and plastic deformation of members). The linear static analysis method and the nonlinear static analysis method are adopted to check the strength- and plastic deformation-based design constraints, respectively. The proposed optimal method are applied to three- and six-story steel frame examples, and the solutions improved for the considered objective functions were found.
