An Experimental Study on Seismic Damage Indicator Considering Cumulative Absolute Velocity Concept (누적절대속도 개념을 고려한 지진손상표시기의 실험적 연구)

  • The nuclear power plant(NPP) should be shut down for inspection and tests prior to a return to power if the earthquake exceeds the operating basis earthquake(OBE). The OBE at the plant is considered to have been exceeded if the computed cumulative absolute velocity(CAV) from the earthquake record is greater than 0.16g-sec. However, the CAV criterion should be determined considering the seismic and structural characteristics of the plant. An experimental study using shaking table is conducted in this study to evaluate intensity of CAV criterion. Appropriate level of CAV is evaluated based on the test results using the developed seismic damage indicator(SDI) model. The model consists of stacked acrylic cylinders and is developed to behave consistently for each directional seismic load. The result of the experimental study in dicates that the CAV criterion of 0.16g-sec is conservative enough to be applied to Korean NPPs since the CAV value of the seismic input motion of the Korean standard NPPs ranges from 0.3 to 0.5 g-sec. The developed SDI is expected to be useful not only in easily determining OBE exceedance but also in evaluating earthquake damage quantitatively to provide guidelines for better post-shutdown inspection and test.

  • 정적 통행배분모형은 도로 건설 등 공급부문에의 적용은 가능하나 통행량 및 혼잡의 시간적 공간적 변화를 고려하지 못하여 수요관리에서는 교통량 및 비용에 대한 관측치와 모형의 결과치가 상이한 문제가 있다. 이에 동적배분모형의 다양한 접근방법이 시도되고 있는데 그 중 Simulation기법을 개발하고자 하였다. 모형은 개별차량의 시공간상 움직임을 포현하고자 절대시간이 가장 이른 차량순으로 시뮬레이션을 함으로써 선입선출(FIFO)을 가능하게 하였다. 각 차량별 지체시간의 계산은 대기행렬 이론을 기초로 한 누적곡선법을 적용하여 도출하였다. 개별차량 Simulation은 시간축으로 확장된 연속류 Network상에서 각 차량의 도착 및 출발할 노드와 시간대를 결정하면 모든 지점에서 누적도착, 출발곡선을 그릴 수 있으며 이를 통해 도로구간에 있어 시간대별 통행시간, 밀도, 속도 등을 파악할 수 있다. 또한 합류부의 용량와 와해현상과 분류부의 용량변화현상 제약 및 Queue길이 제약이 이루어지도록 하였다. 개발된 모형의 검증은 영동대교 북단 강변도로 진출입부 자료를 실측하여 사용하였다. 모형은 합류부 용량와해의 적용 전과 후의 결과를 각각 실측치와 비교하였다. 용량와해현상을 적용한 모형에서 MAPE 10%미만의 우수한 예측력을 보였다. 이는 누적곡선을 이용한 Simulation모형이 현실에 가까움을 의미하는 것이며, 합류부 용량와해현상의 관계식을 보다 정교하게 도출하고 분류부에도 이를 적용한다면 모형의 예측력은 더욱 향상될 것으로 보인다.

  • Following the 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident, the IAEA has issued a revised version of the Nuclear Safety Standard for beyond design basis earthquake to consider the core meltdown accident. In Korea, relevant laws and regulations were also revised to consider beyond design basis earthquake to nuclear components. In this paper, CAV, an seismic damage factor that determines the restart of nuclear power plant after operating breakdown earthquake, is proposed for extension to the beyond design basis earthquake. For pipings not satisfying the beyond design basis earthquake condition, several evaluation methods are suggested, such as strain-based evaluation methods, simple nonlinear analysis method and cumulative damage evaluation method.

Development of a computer mouse using gyro-sensors and LEDs (자이로 센서와 LED를 이용한 마우스 개발)

  • We proposed the device to control a computer with only a head and eye blinks so that disabilities by car accidents can use a computer. Because they have paralysis of their upper extremities such as C4~C5 paraplegics and cerebral palsy, they cannot efficiently access a general keyboard/mouse not using hands and foots. The cursor position was estimated from a gyro-sensor which can measure head movements, and the mouse event such as click/double click from opto-sensors which can detect eye blinks. The sensor was put on the proper goggle in order not to disturb the visual field. The performance of the proposed device was compared to a general optical mouse, and was used both relative and absolute coordinate in cursor positioning control. The recognition rate of click and double-click was 86% of the optical mouse, the speed of cursor movement by the proposed device was not much different from the mouse. The overall accuracy was 80%. Especially, the relative coordinate is more convenience and accuracy than the absolute coordinate, and can reduce the frequency of reset to prevent the accumulative error.

  • 회전기계에서 발생하는 진동 원인 중 약 60% 이상이 불평형(unbalance)에 의한 진동이다. 불평형은 기계의 과도한 진동을 유발시킬 뿐 아니라 베어링의 수명 단축 및 소음을 발생시킨다. 따라서, 기게의 수명을 연장시키고, 기계의 성능을 향상시키며 부드럽고 진동이 없는 운전을 위하여 평형잡이(balancing)는 절대적으로 중요하다. 불평형은 축 중심선에 대하여 회전체의 질량 분포가 비대칭이기 때문에 발생하는데 그 원인으로는 부품 자체가 비대칭에서 오는 설계 또는 제도 오차, 주물의 기포 및 용접의 불균일 등에 의한 재질상의 결함, 그리고 부품조립시 형상누적공차 등에 의한 가공.조립오차 등이 있다. ISO의 정의에 따르면 평형잡이는 회전체의 질량 분포를 조사하고 필요하다면 저널의 진동과 베어링의 작용력들이 운전속도에 대응하는 주파수에서 특정한 한계내에 있도록 보증하게 하기 위한 조정을 하는 과정이다. 불평형 상태에 대한 조사도 평형잡이로 표현된다. 그러나 수정이 필요하다고 간주된다면 수행된다. 모든 회전체는 초기 불평형(initial unbalance)이라 불리는 임의의 불평형을 가지고 출발한다. 완벽하게 평형이 잡힌 회전체를 달성하는 것이 평형잡이 작업의 목적은 아니다. 임의의 잔류 불평형(residual unbalance)은 항상 허용된다. 경제적인 이유에서 회전체는 일반적으로 요구되는 적절한 허용치보다 더 이상 평형잡이를 하지 않는다. 현장에서 현장 평형잡이를 수행하게 될 경우, 가끔 계산된 수정질량이 매우 클 경우가 있다. 이때 기게의 조건상 큰 수정질량을 부착하기가 곤란한 경우가 자주 발생한다. 작은 수정질량으로 평형잡이를 할 수 있다면 기계의 안정성 면에서 매우 유리하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 영향계수법(Influence Coefficient Method : ICM)의 기본 개념과 유전 알고리즘(Genetic Algorithm : GA)을 이용하여 회전기계의 안정성을 보장할 수 있는 허용진동 내에서의 최적 수정질량 계산법을 제시한다.

Multi-sensor Fusion Based Guidance and Navigation System Design of Autonomous Mine Disposal System Using Finite State Machine (유한 상태 기계를 이용한 자율무인기뢰처리기의 다중센서융합기반 수중유도항법시스템 설계)

  • This research propose a practical guidance system considering ocean currents in real sea operation. Optimality of generated path is not an issue in this paper. Way-points from start point to possible goal positions are selected by experienced human supervisors considering major ocean current axis. This paper also describes the implementation of a precise underwater navigation solution using multi-sensor fusion technique based on USBL, GPS, DVL and AHRS measurements in detail. To implement the precise, accurate and frequent underwater navigation solution, three strategies are chosen. The first one is the heading alignment angle identification to enhance the performance of standalone dead-reckoning algorithm. The second one is that absolute position is fused timely to prevent accumulation of integration error, where the absolute position can be selected between USBL and GPS considering sensor status. The third one is introduction of effective outlier rejection algorithm. The performance of the developed algorithm is verified with experimental data of mine disposal vehicle and deep-sea ROV.

Selecting a Landmark for Repositioning Automated Driving Vehicles in a Tunnel (자율주행 차량의 터널내 측위오차 보정 지원시설 선정)

  • This study proposed a method to select existing facilities as a landmark in order to reset accumulated errors of dead reckoning in a tunnel difficult to receive GNSS signals in automated driving. First, related standards and regulations were reviewed in order to survey 'variety' on shapes and installation locations as a feature of facilities. Second, 'recognition' on facilities was examined using image and Lidar sensors. Last, 'regularity' in terms of installation locations and intervals was surveyed through related references. The results of this study selected a fire fighting box / lamp (50m), an evacuation corridor lamp (300m), a lane control system (500m), a maximum / minimum speed limit sign and a jet fan as a candidate landmark to reset positioning errors. Based on those facilities, it was determined that error correction was possible. The results of this study are expected to be used in repositioning of automated driving vehicles in a tunnel.

Study on the Use of Bracketed Summations of the Peak Ground-motion Acceleration Per Second for Rapid Earthquake Alert Notifications (신속 지진피해통보를 위한 지반가속도의 초당 최대값 구간적산 방법의 활용에 관한 연구)

  • In an effort to further exploit the peak ground-motion acceleration (PGA) information per second available in real time by the enacted law, bracketed summations of the PGA per second ($BSPGA_k$) for 30 seconds based on the records with a rate of 100 samples were compared with the cumulative absolute velocity (CAV) and earthquake intensities based on a worldwide database of records from small-to-large earthquakes. The CAV, currently in use as an earthquake damage indicator for nuclear power plants due to its strong correlation with the earthquake intensity, has the disadvantage of requiring a massive amount of digital data with a rate of more than 100 samples per second. The comparative study shows that the $BSPGA_k$ is well correlated with the CAV over the wide range of strong ground-motion levels, which suggests that the $BSPGA_k$ is one of the new promising ground-motion parameters especially useful for rapid earthquake alert notifications through an earthquake monitoring network. Based on the domestic database of records from small-to-moderate earthquakes with felt reports, it is also observed that the $BSPGA_k$ is comparable to the CAV and better than the PGA in predicting the intensity by using the correlation relation.

Long-Day Period Before Short-Day Treatment Affects the Vegetative Growth of Greenhouse-Grown Cut Chrysanthemum cv, Reagan Improved (단일처리전 장일처리 기간이 온실재배 스프레이 절화국의 영양생장에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to examine the effect of long-day (LD) period before short-day (SD) treatment on the vegetative growth of greenhouse-grown cut chrysanthemum cv. Reagan Improved at Wageningen Agricultural University, The Netherlands. Rooted cuttings of cut chrysanthemum cv, Reagan Improved were transplanted on 6th, 13th, 20th of September and all of them were treated with LD before SD treatment on 27th of September, The periods from transplanting until final harvest were 70, 77, and 84 days for 1, 2, and 3 week-LD treatment, respectively. The final plant height increased in the plot of 3 week-LD period and decreased in the plot of 1 week-LD period before the SD treatment. Total fresh weight and the leaf area were increased more in the plot of 3 week-LD period than that of 1 week-LD period, but the absolute growth rate after SD treatment was the same on plant growth rate and increase of the number of leaves in all treatments. The final dry matter production (g.m$^{-2}$ ) was increased more in the plot of 3 week-LD period than that of 1, 2week-LD period before SD treatment. Plant height and fresh weight were followed by the condition of LD period. In addition, dry mass production was highest in 3 week-LD period.
