Exploring the Factors Affecting the Adoption of Environmentally Friendly Vehicles (친환경 자동차의 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 탐색)

  • This study investigates the factors that induce the early adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles. We measure the affective, cognitive, and behavioral factors influencing the early adoption intentions of car owners in three countries (the US, Germany, and Japan). We find that affective and cognitive factors are significant, but behavioral factors are only partially significant. Specifically, eco-centric values and knowledge about green technology are significant in explaining early adoption intent. However, of the behavioral factors, usage context is significant, whereas commute distance is not significant in explaining early adoption intent. Finally, between-country differences indicate that any policy to increase the adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles should be fine-tuned for each country.

  • 인구의 증가와 급속한 산업화 그리고 편안함을 추구하고자 하는 문명의 이기로 인한 에너지 사용량 증가는 환경오염을 가속화시키는 문제를 유발하고 있어 전 세계적으로 심각한 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 이에 반해 삶의 질의 향상에 따라 보다 쾌적한 환경에 대한 욕구와 인식의 변화로 환경보호에 대한 관심이 증가하는 추세이며, 이에 따라 각 국의 환경규제는 날로 강화되고 있다. 이러한 환경문제를 해결하기 위한 국제협력이 활발해지면서 무역과 연계된 국제 환경규제가 가속화되고 있으며, 환경선진국은 이러한 환경규제를 무역장벽으로 이용하고 있어 국가의 대외경쟁력에도 직 간접적으로 영향을 미치고 있다. 환경오염물질 중 질소산화물(NOx), 황산화물(SOx), 일산화탄소(CO), 이산화탄소($CO_2$) 및 휘발성유기화합물(VOCs), 다이옥신 그리고 입자상물질(PM)과 같은 대기오염물질은 대기 중으로 쉽게 확산되는 특성에 의해 인접한 지역까지 영향을 미치기 때문에 국제적인 규제대상의 초점이 되고 있으며, 경제협력개발기구(OECD, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), 유엔산하 국제해사기구(IMO, International Maritime Organization) 및 국제연소기구협회(CIMAC, International Council on Combustion engines)등 여러 국제기구를 중심으로 각종 규제수단을 개발하여 적용하고 있다. 특히, 국제해사기구(IMO)에서는 선박에서 발생되는 오염물질 등에 대한 규제강화를 위하여 새로운 국제해양오염방지협약(MARPOL)을 채택, 발효하여 그 규제 범위를 넓혀감에 따라 선박에 대한 각종 환경규제가 대폭 강화되고 있어 친환경 선박 및 관련 기술 개발이 활발히 진행 중에 있다. 이 글에서는 선박에서 배출되는 대기오염물질 중 그 자체로도 인체에 유해하며, 산성비, 광화학스모그 등 다양한 환경문제를 유발시키는 대표적인 물질인 질소산화물(NOx)과 질소산화물 배출규제에 대한 대응기술인 선택적촉매환원법(SCR, Selective Catalytic Reduction)과 SCR 탈질시스템에 사용되는 SCR 촉매에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

A Methodology for Evaluating the Effects of Transportation Policies Related to Greenhouse Gas Reduction (교통온실가스 감축정책의 효과분석 방법론 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a methodology for evaluating quantitative effects of transportation GHG (greenhouse gas) reduction-related policies that were implemented based on the reduction goals of transportation GHG and effective implementation plans. This study uses a modal utility function and demand estimation models as well as a GHG emission basic unit estimation model by each transportation mode based on actual traffic and emission data. The results showed that the effects of GHG reduction policies such as electric vary from region to region, and from vehicle to vehicle. It is also confirmed that an eco-drive promotion policy, one of the lowest budget policies, is expected to contribute to high reduction in GHG. In addition, not only automobile emission improvement policies but also the promotion policies of public transportation are expected to highly reduce GHG as confirmed quantitatively in this study. The results of this study are expected to be useful for national and local governments' evaluation of GHG reduction policies to cope with the post 2020.

The Properties of Concrete with Lightweight Aggregate Impregnated by Phase Change Material (상변화물질 함침 경량골재를 사용한 콘크리트의 특성)

  • Under the paradigm of sustainable green growth at the national level, various researches and applications for energy saving in the construction field has been attempted. As a part of energy saving efforts, lightweight concrete was investigated for thermal insulation concrete with phase change material (PCM) which has high heat storage capacity. As a part of energy saving efforts, thermal insulation concrete was investigated and evaluated with lightweight aggregate impregnated by PCM which has high heat storage capacity. As a result, it is found that concrete with lightweight aggregate impregnated by PCM is effective to prevent its quality deterioration by reducing water absorption rate of lightweight aggregate. In addition, it has shown that concretes using lightweight aggregate and impregnated lightweight aggregate improve heat insulation property 33% and 40~43% compared with using normal aggregate, respectively. It is that the lightweight aggregate concrete with impregnated lightweight aggregate has 12~14% lower thermal conductivity than unimpregnated.

The Evaluation of GHG Emissions in Railroad Construction Sector (철도건설의 온실가스 배출량 산정평가)

  • According to governmental policies for green growth, the increase in the traffic volume of railroad is a representative method to reduce total greenhouse gas (GHG) emitted from transport. Comprehensive assessment for the GHG emission of railroad has been studied to compare the difference of transport modes just in the operating step excluded the construction step. The purpose of this study was to evaluate GHG emissions in railroad construction sector. The targets were some construction works for civil, track, building, and electric system in A line. The GHG emission source of constructing railroad infrastructure was mainly the energy consumption of heavy equipments. As a result, the civil construction sector showed more than 96% of total GHG emissions and its specific GHG emission was 2.191 ton $CO_2e/m$. Also, the specific GHG emissions of civil construction works were of the order: earthworks > tunnels > bridges > station. In future, it will be required to calculate the overall GHG emission of railroad through life cycle approaches including operation, maintenance and disposal step.

  • Since Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2005 takes effect, the transportation policies of most countries move toward encouraging the use of the transit mode with energy efficient and low carbon. Korea is 8th country of producing Co2 emissions and will be one of obligation countries decreasing Co2 after year 2013. In order to improve the efficiency of national transport system investment, this study developed the strategies toward rail-oriented transport system by considering operational speed and accessability, rail-oriented development, and introduce of ubiquitous technique in railway. The four major strategies targeted for future year are introduced here such as One-hour rail(connecting major cities within one hour), Seamless 30(accessing major railway stations within 30 minutes, Rail urbanism (railway-based urban planning), and U-rail (railway service with ubiquitous technique). Each strategy includes several action plans and their priorities are investigated using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) to organize them by time scheme as short, mid, and long term perspective.

  • 오늘날 우리 사회는 물산업의 성장성을 높이 평가, 국내 물산업 육성이 경제발전을 위하여 중요하다고 말한다. 따라서 정부는 정부대로, 기업은 기업대로 시장의 육성 및 선점을 위하여 많은 노력을 경주하고 있다. 특히 최근에는 국내 물시장의 성장 한계성을 이유로 해외 물시장 진출의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 하지만 우리사회는 정작 해외 시장 진출을 위해 무엇보다 중요한 부문인 시장에 대한 정보 탐색에는 노력이 미흡한 실정이다. 즉 해외 물시장 진출의 중요성을 강조하고는 있지만, 어느 시장을 목표시장으로 선정해야 하는지, 무엇이 우리의 강점인지, 무엇을 고객에게 줄 것인지 등에 대한 탐색이 미흡함에 따라, 해외 물시장 진출에 대한 속 시원한 해법을 제시하는 이는 많지 않다. 이에 본 논고는 물시장의 성장 가능성이 높을 것이라고 알려진 아시아 시장의 여러 국가 가운데 국내 시장에도 잘 알려져 있지 않은 말레이시아 시장을 중심으로 정부 정책, 시장 환경, 현지 기술력 등에 관하여 살펴보고, 이를 기초로 시장으로서의 기회와 위험, 그리고 국내 기업의 강점과 약점을 살펴보았다. 분석결과로서 기회와 위험, 강점과 약점을 약술하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 기회의 관점에서 말레이시아는 치수사업, 수도사업, 환경정화사업 등 물산업 인프라가 여전히 취약한 점에서 국내 물기업에게 시장으로서의 기회를 제공하고 있다. 둘째, 외국계 기업에 대한 정부의 규제, 부실한 수도 재정 및 낮은 요금 등은 외국계 기업에 게 있어 위험 요인이 된다. 셋째, 높은 기술력을 이용하여 성공적으로 물 인프라를 구축 운영함으로써 선진국 수준의 물안정성 및 안전성을 확보하고, 4대강살리기 사업과 같은 대규모 프로젝트를 통해 녹색성장 모델을 구축함은 국내 물기업의 큰 강점이다. 넷째, 국내 기업에 대한 현지 시장의 낮은 인지도는 약점 요인이 된다. 현지 이해 관계자의 말에 따르면 "한국계 기업은 보유하고 있는 기술력에 비해 '기업' 및 '보유기술'에 대한 홍보가 부족하다"라고 지적한다. 결과적으로 국내 물기업이 현지 시장에 성공적으로 진출하기 위해서는 무엇보다 국내 기업에 대한 그리고 국내 기술력에 대한 적극적인 홍보가 필요할 것이다.

  • With the advent of smart age, the concern on smart work has gradually increased in solving our social problems including low birth, aging, low productivity and green growth with low carbon as well as encouraging the balance between work and life. In addition, the competitiveness among companies and countries to preoccupy the advanced smart work technologies which lead the economic growth in the future have increased more than ever before. So have global standard competitiveness done under the situation of using international standardization as practical strategy for dominating market. It is essential to make standardization strategy and do systematic implementation for core technology which leads global market in order to fit such an environment and introduce smart work as soon as possible. Therefore, this paper suggests standardization items which lead global standard and implementation direction on standardization through analysing the current situation introducing smart work and technology/standardization trend.

  • Since the beginning of 2000, the ubiquitous technology rapidly has been at center of public concerns, and application of the ubiquitous technology is expanding in Korea with U-City as the center. U-City is currently planned and built by local governments, but the applicable range of the ubiquitous technology should be expanded in the future to build U-Territory and U-Land projects. As a part of this, U-forest should also be implemented, and that now is the time to gain support in policy and systematic initiative. Therefore, this study defines U-Forest concept to implement valuable national resources, healthy land environment, and pleasant green space by using ubiquitous technology as an effective way to produce, manage, use, and distribute the forest. In order to establish strategy for U-Forest, it has considered basic forest plan, k-Forest, and FGIS projects, and has drawn a service model pertaining to them. Also, it has proposed the need to establish the basic plan for U-Forest, and suggested details to include in the plan.

Scientometric Analysis for Biodiesel (바이오디젤 학술 정보분석)

  • Biodiesel is an important new alternative transportation fuel and it can be produced by chemically reacting a fat or oil with an alcohol, in the presence of a catalyst. The product of the reaction is a mixture of methyl esters, which are known as biodiesel, and glycerol, which is a high value co-product. The process is known as transesterification. Biodiesel can be used neat and when used as a pure fuel it is known as BD100. However, it is often blended with petroleum-based diesel fuel and when this is done the blend is designated BD5 or BD20(BD20 is a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel fuel). Adherence to a quality standard is essential for proper performance of the fuel in the engine and will be necessary for widespread use of biodiesel. In this study, we analyzed 4,144 papers of biodiesel by category, country, institution, keyword etc. from 2001 to 2013 years.
